BMW E36 325i + NO exhaust

I love my E36 328i. Only mod is a Signature Motoring performance intake kit. They run around $170 and add up to 9HP in the E46 323/325/328 and up to 9.4HP in the 328i. That's about $17/per extra HP... A good value for the extra oomph. General HP increases are shown:

E30 series: 6.0-13.4hp gain

E36 series: 5.5-12hp gain

E46 series: 6.0-13.9hp gain

E92 series: 8.5+ hp gain

Z3/Z4 (all): 5.5-13.9hp gain

is there like an onboard computer on your car under where the radio goes? My 93 325i has this computer thing that reads why the engine light is on. Like it tells me if the coolan it low, brake lights are not working, etc

yap i do. its called an OBC.

lately i get an error sayin check coolant level.

lol i was getting that. But since i just got the car, i would check the level and it would be low, then id fill er up and it would go away, then it comes back on and its low again. Well its not on since the coolant system is full lol

@brandonya1990 if u dnt use the recommended engine coolant then the sensor may not read properly.like in my case. i have coolant but it tells me to check the level...if i press check den it dissapears

oh. Well i just filled mine with water and it hasnt showed up anymore. Just the washer fluid. I think the sensor is bad or the motor because that dont work either lol

@brandonya1990 follows the tube which takes liquid to the windscreen.u have to take the cover from the bonnet of n u will see a white piece of plastic where water takes 2 different routes..

usually that plastic cloges up with dirt.

it also can be cloged up on the little electric motor which is very easy to pull out and check.

yeah man mine dus the same thing, its the sensor for the coolant levels, if u remove it, ull drain ur fluid. but just remove it and clean it a lil bit and itll read right, sometimes it just gets stuk cus of the gunk

Its goes off after you check your coolant level. It just knows that youve done it.

i have a land rover discovery 2.5 tdi 1990 something if i was to take my exhaust off and put a straight pipe on would it sound loud and mean or just like a reck please get back to me

It would definitely sound meaner. For the best result you'd also need a good aftermarket or custom made back-box. Straight pipes (de-cat) would give a better flow and good back box would make a nice sound of that flow. The disadvantage of this setup is your emissions... You still need to pass your emissions test, don't you :)

In the states if your car is older than 20 years, then you are emission exempt! I patiently waiting. This is true duel exhaust right? How many oxygen sensors did you need to replace. I'll soon be doing the same thing to my 1992 325is... Nice color on your car!

It's only one O2 sensor, two sensors go only on OBDII bimmers post '96.

thats the way, you should take the cat, resonator, backbox , everything and replace it with a straight through pipe system, plus the flame kits(lol) work better, as the cat doesnt burn the unused fuel, its all there..ready to go pop

if you cut off the resonators and the muffler and just add pipe with some chrome tips, it sounds SICK at WOT.. but its hella loud, yet so aggressive and menacing,(i own a 325ic) i went thru a tunnel and couldnt hear my own friend because i got on it... and i scare ricers all the time with it... (usual response after a race is "WTF DO YOU HAVE IN THAT?" lol)

nah actually i got better mpg, if i go 55 i get like almost 45-50mpg with the 2.5, before i was getting like 40ish?... but its not worth it lol, once you take off your resonator and muffler, the exhaust note changes, (also put headers and intake on) and the sounds is orgasmic!.. thus its almost impossible to keep your foot out of the gas... but it does sound unlike anything you have ever heard... especially at redline :D... but no your mpg doesnt go down but rather goes up :D
