He said Israel should be "wiped off the map." It's been explained repeatedly that he meant it shouldn't be located ON THE MAP where it is now. That its borders should have been laid elsewhere.
He never said he wanted to kill Jews or bomb Israel.
But being rational, thinking, and honest is too much to ask of the media, and it's too much to ask of most of you.

Where do you get that? I've watched him giving speeches, I've read transcripts of his speeches, and I've seen his website. He never seems angry or frustrated. In fact, he talks about God and how he believes the world is awakening toward God. And he doesn't say "just muslims."
I am not in favor of Iran, but as a person, Ahmadinejad does not seem like the drooling, evil dictator that the news propaganda makes him out to be.

israel and its media moguls really needs to fix their translators. President Ahmadinejad never said Israel should go, he was quoting Ayatollah Khomeini. Never the less, the British people on the streets kinda like the guy. I guess the media and polls would say otherwise since they heavily back israel. Israel will fail, i have seen it, so will you!

Because Israel "slightly smaller than New Jersey" so unlike if a Nuke went off in Iran, if it went off in Israel, a huge percentage of the country would be exterminated. Being 1000x more powerful wount do anything to change that.

Matthews was right. That other guy is using words like exterminate to make people fearful, when in truth he didn't use those words, he simply reiterated how Khomenei said the illegal state will eventually disappear, much like the Soviet Union and the people will be free eventually. Nothing about mass murder. Iran has the second largest Jewish population in the middle east.

your right about what Khomenei said, but Ahmadinejad either rephrased or misquoted him. One of Iran's most prominent translators, Sohrab Mahdavi said the most accurate translation is "wipe away" or "wipe off" as opposed to vanish. Either way, he refered to Israel as the occupiers which is denying their existance. Also, to call for their end almost implies bloodshed simply because Israeli's of all people would never willingly relocate themselves. Iran only has 10,800 jews

Ron christie is talking about what someone said, but he's not quoting him accurately. Instead he is mudging the issue further and implying that "he wants to kill jews".
Now you are mudging it even further by dropping even the mention of Ahmadinejad and referring only to "the Iranian leadership calls for elimination of Israel".
But there's a whole campaign; "They want to kill jews, They're trying to get nukes, They're tryin to kill our boys in Iraq" Wonder what's the real deal...

I understand the "wipe Israel off the map" is a mistranslation from the original statement in Farsi. As far as I understand, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting was the FIRST used the the phrase in a story (in English) entitled: Ahmadinejad: Israel must be wiped off the map. I can site sources if you like.

The Guardian's Jonathan Steele cites four different translations, from professors to the BBC to the New York Times and even pro-Israel news outlets, in none of those translations is the word "map" used. The closest translation to what the Iranian President actually said is, "The regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time," or a narrow relative thereof. In no version is the word "map" used or a context of mass genocide or hostile military action even hinted at.

The Israeli government is one in the same as the people of Israel. You can not call for one to be eliminated without it meaning the entire set.

You have to understand, the stifling of opinions, DOES NOT lead to the resolution of conflicts; it only impedes progress. Let us take, for example, the United States' failure to seek negotiations, let alone any type of discussion with Hamas. How can the realization of peace ever occur if a key player in the conflict is blatantly ignored? This stance is stubborn, COMPLETELY illogical and, if anything, displays the double standard applied by the United States to ANY form of Palestinian resistance.

You need to understand that the reason why people disagree with you is because they think you are promoting what we have now, which is the extermination of Arabs. You earn our disdain because we do not believe that the blood of Jews should be of greater value than the blood of Palestinians. If Israel is under attack, they can defend themselves. The poster of this video said that the threat to Israel is all too real when in all actuality, nothing could be further than than the truth. Israel has hundreds of nukes that it has built ILLEGALLY, and has refused to be a part of Nuclear NPT (Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty), unlike Iran, which HAS signed the NPT and as a result has IAEA Safeguarded reactors.
The whole thing is nothing but a big hypocritical scam. Since Israel refuses to acknowledge its nuke program, it can pretend it is threatened when others want one bomb to counter Israel's multiple hundred.
