  • My fav scene in the whole show.

  • One of the funniest Red Dwarf scenes. XD

  • Watching this without knowing Red Dwarf might be odd. It is character comedy, after all and relies on remembering what happened before this.

  • I've just been made redundant today.

Came here to this video and cried laughing.

  • This guy played the master once in an old episode of Doctor Who.

  • @savedbyjesusblood Neither Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) nor Andy Taylor (Dr McClaren) have played The Master.

  • That psychiatrist is my pastor, I swear.

  • why has the BBC utube page got adverts on? IM NOT HAPPY!

  • One of the three best scenes in Red Dwarf

  • that was in the future isn't it?

Yes sir, I was created after you died.

So I died and you were created, so how long have I been dead?

Well your not dead any more sir, can't you tell?

  • I also think 13 people need to double check to make sure their chairs are screwed in...

  • Fear: OMG It's going to kill us!

Sadness: Oh my god... it's killed us...

    Happiness: Oh no it hasn't

Surprise: OOO I've turned into a frog

And just lately, I'm proud to say I've got the hang of anger with rudimentary mindless violence XD

  • I love Mr Lister, sir. He taught me everything! Without him, I'd probably be normal"

    LOVE this line XD

  • Hilarious. Keep it up;)

  • 11 people need a psychiatric counsellor

  • Damn Ads!

  • Hey everyone.

This is one of the the funniest and best dialogue in the whole show.

Lol. No wonder the psyciatrist want to check the chair. If you don't know Kryton very well, he looks like a total fruitcake.

  • continuity error alert, in series 1, the psychiatrist was called branigan

  • @chrisjg210 Red Dwarf never did continuity very well. ah well.

  • God, I hate shrinks. Pompous, delusional , condescending pricks.

  • Boys from the 'Dwaaarfff -shakes hands-

  • Is your chair screwed down, check one more time!

  • Sadness sounds like William Shattner

  • @Spadesandsinners That is so true! Image if he was Captain of Red Dwarf, or even recorded his version of the theme music!

  • That counselor is SO unlikable! XD

  • @ElveeKaye ALL counselors are extremely unlikable.

  • they make this noise.. iniminiiniiminiinii!

  • The chair jokes are because the therapist guy think Kryten is nuts and he's going to freak out and kill him with the chair. :D

  • @ViscaBarcaInter

Partialy. The pay-off is cut out of the video though. While Kryten is checking the chair the last time the Psychiatrist Stamps kryten's file with "Restore to factory settings". It was all just a distraction.

Considering the punchline takes all of a couple of seconds I find it odd that it was cut out of the video at all. someone at the bbc obviously has no sense of humour.

  • @Stanmorden Ahh, now I get it. I wondered for ages what that was all about. It sounds obvious now. Thankyou very much.

  • This just makes me happy =D

Especially since I know people like both of these guys...

  • Superb. Brilliant til the end. I hope the end hasn't come yet......

  • What i think about all the chair jokes is just in case he decides to pull out the chair and beat the Doctor with it.

  • Can anyone explain me, why he always asks for checking the chair? I didn't get it.. but fantaaastic scene, love Kryten ;D

  • @MrsAnnife Its an indirect way of saying "is your head screwed on correctly"

  • silly old Liz.

  • In series 2 they said that the ships counselor's name was Branigan!

  • Fear: "OMG! It's going to kill us! :o"

Sadness: "Omg. it's killed us :("

Happiness: "Oh no it hasn't :)"

Surprise: "Ooh! i've turned into a frog D:"

  • "I love Mr Lister, sir.... Without him, i'd probably be normal!"

    LOL love Kryten :)

  • lol some of my favourites:

From 0:30 to 1:40 (my favourite part!)

  • i don't really get the chair jokes :S

but anyway, best series ever made!!!

  • So he doesn't pick it up and attack him with it.

Don't worry, I had to ask too.

  • "i've figured out the raw emotion of angry complete with fits of violence.....HI YA!!!!" LOVED IT!

  • 1:25 XD

  • "Just double check that chair for me, will you?"

  • "...And they make this little noise, memememememememe!", haha. I watched this off my dvd yesterday. I think it is from the episode Back In The Red Part 2 but I might Be 1.

  • The psychiatric counsellor reminds me oh so much, of many of the "managers" at the NNUH. Go on, you know who they are...LOL

  • "This year's emotion show." Goes to show you how bored they got on Starbug. Talking about Lister's grandma's squeaky gate, playing Junior Angler, and watching Kryten display all the emotions he's learned over the years.

  • Ha ha ha Kryten rocks! He makes the funniest face after showing the doctor his emotions!!!!!!!! "Oh my, I've turned into a frog!!!!" "Teeny tiny little robots, and they make a little noise menemenemenemeneeeme". :-D

  • "without him, id probably be normal!"

    that made my day =)

  • andy taylor was in my family also.

  • Hmmm, has anyone got that Psychiatric counsellor's telephone number? He seems quite good. Not condescending or anything. :oP

  • Lovely! :D

  • I got the anniversary edition with all the shows in it for christmas, im loving it so far :D

  • OMG SAME

  • You're alive again, Sir. Can't you tell? :D

  • Hahahaha!!

    "You've been most fortunate sir!"

  • haha, the counciler is the first Kryten from series 2 fact fans!

  • @thehoff1982 Controversial.

  • Which episode is this?

  • Whats with the chair? I haven't seen red dwarf in a while

  • The chair is screwed down so that crazy people do not use it as a weapon

  • implying that the chair is screwed up into Kryten's ass making him crazy... so every point that is nuts he wanders if he sitting on a screw...

But that is one of the funniest scenes I can remember about Red Dwarf - "oh my I have turned into a frog"

  • So he is secured. Because he thinks he mental.

  • Psyciatrist, more like Sarcasti-chiatrist

  • love red dwarf, hate these fucking advertsa

I DONT HAVE THE MONEY OR WANT FOR A NEW CAR !

  • "I was Alive, Died, and then started Living Again" - Nearly P***** myself laughing. Ha Ha

  • @rockchick80s "You've been most fortunate, sir." lmao

  • 2:15 BEST:D

  • British comedy is better than American comedy.

  • Japanese too

  • are you British?

  • @cne08

Well Monty Python is fantastic, but this stuff is only average!

  • @cne08 comedy is comedy, no one is better than the other.

  • @cne08 definately =]

  • @cne08 I wouldnt say better its just different british comedy is dryer and in most cases more intelligent (you have to think to get the joke) where american comedy is more slapstick and to the point.

  • @cne08 Well, Old British Comedy... Nowadays, It mainly sucks.

  • @cne08 yup american comedy trys to be funny rather than being funny, like most american things shallow and superficial, sad but true

  • Comment removed

  • @realityexplorations Just because you don't get something doesn't mean it isn't funny. Get over yourself, you arrogant twit.

  • @sidebottom32 lol, too serious there i guess you must be american haha!

  • @realityexplorations I can appreciate comedy like Red Dwarf, but in what way was that post funny?

  • @cne08 So true. The best of british comedy is how the best of it is the short of it. Like Red dwarf only had about six episodes per a series they never over do it.

  • @cne08 No it isn't...just different.

  • @sidebottom32 It is actually better American comedy seems to rely mostly upon slap stick but our English comedy relies more on logical comedy where like in Red Dwarf you have to think quite hard about the joke. But then again English have one extremely good slap stick comedy called Mr. Bean it is extremely funny with his actions and his facial expressions.

  • @h0lyh4ck3r Once again, that is opinion. There are many different kinds of comedy exactly because there are so many different ideas of what is funny, and Americans use a lot more of them than just slap-stick. Many American comedies are based on stand up routines, and it is difficult to do slap-stick by yourself. I do find some British comedy amusing, but there is comedy in the UK that isn't all that funny. For instance, I don't find Mr. Bean especially funny, but that is only my opinion.

  • @sidebottom32 You're on the internet and you're being rational. I like you. :)

  • @BradleySherwoodFan It isn't easy sometimes to be rational...but I try, anyway. The internet is fast becoming a large electronic landfill. What a shame...it had so much potential.

  • @cne08 My one complaint about British shows, like Red Dwarf, Spaced is that they are so short in terms of number of episodes. But besides that I probably would have to agree.

  • @AFMountaineer2000. I'm not sure why we have such short series. I suppose it is because historically the british TV industry has not had as much money as we would like.

  • @cne08 Of Course it is :D, they try to copy us but fail

  • @cne08 Maybe so, but the staged laughing is annoying in any culture.

  • @cne08 I disagree. I think it's just Red Dwarf is better than ALL comedy SITCOMS. Great characters, memorable moments, hilarious lines, all in a sci-fi setting....it's perfection.

  • @cne08 what the fuck is american comedy?

  • Whose Counsellor - Rosalyn Tay;

    Whose Hypnotist - Dr Lee;

    Whose Psychiatrist - Paul Ngui.

What are Noorhayati Arif & Eni Rohaiza, Adnand Arif - aliens to SingTel & Telecom Malaysial.

    Damn, Sallehuddin, NYK, WCS.

  • Where is Brannigan the psychiatrist of the ship??

  • Brilliant! There's no other word for it!

  • Excellent show!!! Kryten is hilarious!

  • and they say series 8 isnt funny this is genius

  • 2.30 - 2.47: Funniest thing EVER. Robert Llewelyn (sp?) is very, VERY cool. :)

  • I love red dwarf. i wish they'd make more and not just tat new 3 parter. oh well at least i have my dvd's..... >XD

  • just occurred to me - this is very 12 monkeys

  • This guy is just like the Shrinks I had in Prison, all mad as mongooses the fucking lot of them.

  • Yeh, I know. I used to think shrinks knew what they were talking about until I saw one professionally.

  • Kryten rules x]

  • man i miss red dwarf

  • @CaptainTripppz yeah but the eastr special 2009 was shit

  • @CaptainTripppz Good news then, it's coming back for a full series. \o/

  • i love it

  • this is soooooo funny xD

  • loooove this show : )

  • I am not even from the UK, but this is my favourite comedy along with Father Ted....

I bought the whole DVD series and laughed my ass off for weeks, the last two series are my favourites.....

I love everything about Red Dwarf. The opening is awesome and takes me straight back to the 80's

  • Fear - OMG! IT'S GOING TO KILL US!

    Sadness- Omg .. it's killed us ..

Happiness - Oh, no it hasn't!

Surprise - OH! I've turned itno a frog!

I've gotten the hang of anger with rudementary mindless violence .. ARGGH! xD

    Kryten #1 ^^

  • classic

  • the counsellor sounds just like my history teacher mr dean AND he even does similar hand movments!XD

  • so who wants to be normal ?

  • without him id probably be normal!

  • My favourite bit is 'And how long would you say I have I been dead then?'

"Ow, Your not dead anymore sir" 'Arn't I?'

"Nono your alive again now sir.. can't you tell?" I was smokin some pot with my friends the very first time i saw this i laughed so damn hard it actually hurt

  • lol the counsellor reminds me of my english teacher.

  • lol its ok XD

  • cool

  • What is with the chair gag??? I dont get it :(

  • its a joke coz he thinks kryten is crazy so he changes the subject

  • Ahhh LOL Thanks! Hee hee ^_^

  • actually i think it means he thinks kryten is crazy "he has some screws loose"

  • i thought it was in case kryten tried to attack him with the chair cos he thinks krytens crazy/violent.

  • He's worried Kryten is so crazy that he'll attack him.

  • Comment removed

  • Well geenrally, if people are crazy, they whack the Phsyciatrist(sp) over the head with the Chair xD

  • I kinda wish Kryten did hit him over the head, that would be awesome.

  • Of course, that works the other way around as well.

  • "Yes Sir...I was created after you died!"

    "Lovely! Lovely!"

brionyphillips was right, anyone dissing series 7 and 8 are smegheads...;)

  • pre video advertisements on youtube, the end begins

  • *Nods* =/

  • dog with a toffie lol

  • This is one of the funniest scenes! And *some* people didn't like series 7 and 8... Fools!

"Sadness: Oh my God, it's killed us."

    pahahaaa..

  • "so ive been dead... and now i live again?"

    "You're most fortunate sir!"

    Kryten ftw =)

  • ''I love Mr. Lister, sir. He taught me everything. Without him, I'd probably be normal!''

  • i love the starbug buggering the rat scene

  • I always figured the chair gag was because the counsellor thought Kryten was tripping, so he was double checking if Kryten thought he was still "on ground level" and wasn't thinking he was flying away on acid or something.

    But maybe that's just me.

  • Its just you.

I thought it was obvious that the counselor was worried that Kryten is psychotic and would use the chair as a weapon.

  • Well no, it's not obvious, because it's not stated. It's just a majority view that, even if it's correct, isn't 100% obvious, but whatever.

I liked my idea, even if it's wrong XD lol

  • It's that he thinks he's insane and needs help. Like the phrase 'He/She has a screw loose' meaning that they're slightly nutty and not right in the head.

  • I get that. But still, I found the example of a chair being bolted to the floor weird, that's all.

  • lol im even able to lie for example you sir have a remarkable haircut! brilliant!

  • I've turned into a frog!

  • I look like a dog chewing a toffee:L:L lol

  • nice haircut! :D

  • awesome

  • geatest red dwarf moment ever

  • comedy genuis.

  • You alive again now sir.... cant you tell?

lol i dont care what people say series 7/8 were great

  • Yes but the other seris were better

  • Is it me, or does the pshychiatrist look like david ross..(the guy who played theoriginal Kryten)

And i wanna go to this years emotion show!!

  • The screwed down joke is basically making sure Kryten has no objects to pick up and use to harm the officer with.

  • 2:50 ROFL

  • OOH LOOK I'VE TURNED INTO A FROG!

  • No, in a nut house all the furniture is screwed down, and the cells are padded so that the inmates can't hurt themselves or the staff, hence the trick cyclist asking Kryton to check. GIMP

  • i no i sound stupid lol, but i dont get the chair tied down joke lol, some1 plz explain

  • its basically saying are you sane? is your head screwed down properly?

  • Nahh your wrong, the officer is making sure his chair is bolted to the floor so kryten could not harm him

  • I think i will sound like a complete nerd here but...OH WELL!

What i dont really understand is...

kryten says his creation build was in the year 2340...

but he was found AFTER the stasis leek...which he was found 3,000,000 years after about that time...how was he produced in 2340 not in like....3,002,340??

  • he started on the SS Augustus, which was a ship heading for deep space.all of his humanoid shipmates died of old age, leaving the ship to delve deep into space, possibly for 3000000years.he is then picked up by the crew of the Nova 5 and he became the personal servant of thefemale crew members of this vessel. The Nova 5crashed into an asteroid andfor millennia, perhaps even millions of years,he serves their corpses.he is then picked up by the crew of red dwarf,so it is possible that he is that old.

  • I knew about the SS Ausustus and Nova 5 and all...

Just seems a bit strange that he lasted so many MILLIONS of years after his creation date!

Seems like when writin the script...the writers forgot hmmm?

  • Yeah, you'd think they would preserve their usual high reputation for slavish devotion for accuracy and factual correctitude.
