guthrie amazes me very much so, he picks his soda up off the floor plays the bass part seth plays and then puts his soda back on the floor lol flawless
and the cream lick was really smooth and fits perfectly im gonna have to try that.
Thanks to the internet and youtube there are more great technical guitar players than ever before. seems like everybody is awesome these days but what sets these people apart? Guthrie shreds without going over your head, almost like a horn player. He takes time to breathe. Yngwie is awesome and has been around for ever, however I can't listen to him for more than 15 minutes. Govan I could listen to all day!! To each their own
Satch has been asked about that G3 and Guthrie thing.... But it's all about money he said. The promoters of the G3 won't take Guthrie because he's not big/popular enough yet.
See I think this is BS. Satch ought to be calling the shots. It's HIS brainchild more or less and I think whoever HE wants should be on stage with him. Oh and Marty Friedman was there jamming with JP, Vai and Satch in Tokyo but they axed him from the DVD... WTF?? Friedman is a god in Japan. Wonder if there was a japan G3 show with his footage?
OwnedRL, I don't think so. If you're referring to Johnson, Malmsteen, Petrucci, then you should know that these guys were already quite popular and well known in the guitar community. A guy like Malmsteen has actually been around for a long long time and in the past even had the attention of mainstream people. I think he was already 'big' before Vai or Satch even really got their careers from the ground.
He's merely promoting the new Cornford amp, not replacing his current amps of choice (MK50H mk2/Hellcat). I too am not overly impressed with the sound of this amp from a glance.
Why Cornford are even thinking about breaking their tradition of British hand wired amps, just to made a more affordable amp is beyond me. You get what you pay for, why make a substitute?
Yes, they are still keeping their current range hand wired. Just adding a cheaper alternative for those that don't want to pay out for top notch gear.
Elitist! The Roadhouse sounds great to me after trying one out. I think Cornford Amps know what they are doing. After all, the Roadhouse got the a Gold award in Guitarist magazine. As jamescornford says: "its a differant sound but thats hardly a bad thing..." - I couldn't agree with him more.
Why shouldn't he/she have worked with Guthrie? He does have work you know; I'm pretty sure he's teaching at BIMM right now for example, one of my friends who's at university there has had a pint with him.
Guthrie is the man! In my top 5 for sure!

Yes, well, it's not up to Satch, according to him. I don't like it either dude :)
The only thing you can do is spread the word about Guthrie and what a great musician he is.
klaasklapper 3 years ago 2
I'm sure if Guthrie played on a G3 his greatness would speak for itself. The music business sucks, being all about the money

isn't g3 also about promoting newer guitarists...?

are they not making handwired amps any more? or are they adding this to their range of amps?

chimera963 3 years ago
Id go for the hellcat, but if its a cheaper amp, not everyone can afford 2-3 grand on an amp
