carlos music was and is very influential on world music
genres and electronic music genres carlos is a legend like the Joni Mitchell song says
you don't know what you have till is is gone, the first CD I own as a kid was a Santana double compilation CD I still have it, men that CD i was over worked and it is worn out, Santana introduced me to JAZZ and the blues all this when I was 13 back in 1999
1974 or 1975. Don't remember the exact year, except that it was the Borboletta tour. He was playing the Gibson L6S at the time. Golden Ear Ring (Radar Love) opened the show followed by Journey!
Sometime later I saw the Mahavishnu Orchestra (Visions of the Emerald Beyond) tour with Yes! Two of my most memorable concert experiences!
Brilliant. I never thought I would see him do this live. I was 13 when I used to play they music over and over all day while trying to learn all the guitar notes.
absolutely the pinnacle of Santana's career - this big jazz band was the farthest he'd ever get (great bassist, 2 keyboards, 2 drummers as I recall, the BEST percussion) - too far out for most, he went commercial - well leesee if he ever goes this far to the edge again...
The best all time Santana lineup, featuring the incredible Doug Rauch on bass. The energy and chemistry this group had brought out the best in Carlos. I was fortunate to see this Santana "Lotus" band live before they changed members. Thanks for posting this video.
I'm not sure this is a bootleg: my own opinion is that this was a tv broadcast - amazing to have all these diff angles for a boot. In the history of rock music is there a musician more poorly traeted by film-makers than Chepito? As usual his whole solo is virtually missed... :-(((
Have seen Santana 38+ times over the years: this was easily the best line-up (and Carlos has had some great bands with him): the show 15th Nov 1973, is the best I have EVER seen from anyone.

The Budokan is in Tokyo, Japan and I was at this show. It was VERY good. I was 19 years old at the time.

I agree about the Chepito solo and general input to this masterpiece.
Armando always got due respect as did others through the years but Chepito was legend in driving the *^%" out of this great band.

Santana live from Budokan, July 3'4, 1973.
There was a bootleg DVD made of this performance.
