So DIRECTV creates a virtual movie set, allowing the viewer to move about almost as if they were in the movie? Because if not, this is good old fashioned false advertising :)
I know its not real and meant to be a dude watching a movie but I dont like this ad that much its not a true representation of how firefighters operate.
@eternalgracenote when you needa take a piss.. you can do so without having to sit there fidgeting like a crack whore junkie waiting for commercials to go on so that you dont miss any part of the movie duhhhh
@laughingcrows Setting aside the absurdly pessimistic "thousand years" prediction, they're not claiming that DirecTV is fully immersive VR. I don't think any reasonable viewer would presume otherwise. Fantastical elements are common in ads (frogs don't *actually* chant "Bud-wei-ser"). It's not deceptive when those elements are clearly not intended to be taken literally, as in this case.
why not just pause, get your popcorn, and then play once you get back?

@ultrajd you douche, its a 30 second ad to make directv look interesting its not a true to life documentary on the life and times of firefighters!

Who writes this crap? Did you intend to lie, are you just stupid or do you expect your customers to be?
Your commercials depict a technology we won't have for a thousand years. It's like TV virtual immersion or something like that.
It's false advertising.
