@Jameydboi to play burned games on your ps2 you're going to need swap magic or a modchip. swap magic costs just about as much as one game. your ps2 will not just play burned games without either of those tools.

this works i can vouch for it. i did it with my ps3, which is a little bit more difficult...have to take it apart. but it works on both the ps2 and ps3 to play burned games without swap magic. but after considering my options, i just bought swap magic. its definately worth it.

if you want to play back up ps2 games look up free MCBOOT and ESR also there is a program called psxloader that will stop the ps2 disk drive for ps1 games at boot up so you can swap it with the burned game and you only have to do it once and you don't hurt the ps2's dvd drive with free mcboot you can also watch movies from usb drive and load game saves from usb to your memory card and play nes/ super nes /and /Sega geneses games with a emulators on the ps2 just look it the video on my page

However, at the bottom, it clearly says "Licensed by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe" instead of "America", so I know the PS2 acknowledges the game disc somewhat.

My PS2 is an NTSC-U, so do you think that region format has to do with anything, or do you think the bottom of the disc needs to be cleaned from scratches?

is there any way of playing burned ps2 games WITHOUT buying something like ActionReplay or Swap Magic etc? I tried swapping ps2 games in the tray for the burned dvds using a swap key i made but it doesn't seem to work for ps2 games (the screen just stays black).

Honestly I'd rather just go and buy the actual game since it's a lot easier and costs about the same as the hacking software, but they don't sell them in most electronic stores anymore so it looks like i'm never going to play it :\

It seems like a cool thing to play ps1 games that you download, I even soft modded my silver slimline but I don't like the swap method because forcefully stopping the spinning of the disc cannot be good. You also must carefully open the case or you can damage the component. I some how broke the connection of the button to the power board in the front and had to fix it. Thank God it works now and I have removed the modification. I'd love a modded ps2, but done the correct way.
