  • h.264 vs vp8 h.264 wins buy i mile

  • haha watching this video on webm=HTML5

  • F***

  • snore im outta here

  • I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, Firefox 6.0.2 Stable and have joined the Youtube HTML5 test, this video does not play. :shrugs:

  • I already found an easter egg in it. Right click the bar and you'll see "Save as...", I know what you're thinking, "They finally added downloadable videos!". Actually, clicking on it bring you to the music video for "Never gonna give you up". Yep, you guessed it, they rickrolled us again.

  • @pgj1997 yep u are right! >____>

  • &webm=1

  • @texuxi Well, you asked for "convert this video to webm" OR "put a creative commons license". The first was done, at least for Opera browser.

  • @texuxi They must have heard you, it is now viewable as a WebM video but ony at 360p. I am watching it with Opera 11.0 without Flash. You have to join the HTML5 Beta first. I am curious to see whether YouTube will ever render 1080p in WebM without the Flash interface.

  • FUCK THIS. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING GOOGGLE REMOVING H.264 SUPPORT ON CHROME AND PUSHING WEBM AND FLASH??????? SAYING THAT YOU GUYS SUPPORT OPEN FORMAT???? FLASH IS NOT FUCKING OPEN YOU KNOW.

  • @HeyItPat Ummm, H.264 is not open format.

  • @HeyItPat They're not pushing Flash.

  • watching this video and flash decides to crash, talk about bad timing.

  • This is soo fun - video about webm on youtube itself is NOT in webM format

  • GOOD

  • Xiph, not Zif…

and what Flash has can IMHO be just described as pseudo content protection just there for marketing and legal reasons (even considering the fact that "real" content protection is impossible this is just a joke)

  • This is the best web technology I am personally looking forward to, since it will effect an enormous amount of potential user base. The most important thing to allow this WebM format to really be preferred is to have additional features and capabilities directly with this new format to create demand to actually switch for the average video audience whatever Google may come up with. But I look forward to widespread <video> support and I will be playing all vids possible in WebM from now on! :)
