  • further to my earlier comment. For those wanting that “oil” look we suggest a Hard Wax Oil finish which give a very natural look and are also more sustainable than polyurethanes as the are easy to do localised repairs to.

    These Hard Wax Oils are the products I choose to use for my own home and I hope to do a video on those at some future time. Regards Terry

  • Water based products will never fully duplicate the colour enhancement of oil/solvent based. However, the best manufacturers have primers which get very close without having any of the drawbacks. Primers are applied to stop side bonding or panellisation (where several boards are stuck together by the floor finish & seasonal movement causes a one joint to open substantially instead of lots of small gaps between all boards). Quality water based products are UV stable & will not yellow over time.
