I only heard this once on the radio and remember exactly where I was when I did. I was driving about 5 minutes from my house and when the DJ said it was Chubby Checker I was extremely surprised. I went out and bought the single. Good song.
This overlooked album had a few great AOR tracks on it and my favorite was "Harder Than a Diamond". He also put out a psychedelic album in the 60's. Both show how Chubby Checker was more than The Twist. He could rock with the best of them.
When I saw this very performance on TV, I went and bought the LP since it was not on CD. Only the big stuff and classical music was on CD. I enjoyed this song and nothing else off the album. It's an EXCELLENT song and exactly on of my favorite types of music. Check out the song Driver's Seat on YouTube by a band called Sniff 'n' The Tears
Wow! I can't believe I actually found this here. After all these years this song was running through my head today so I did some searching for it. The album it's from was not really meant for his stuck-in-the-old days Twist fans but for the album rock fans of the time. He showed he could play with the new crowd. If Bruce Springsteen had cut this song it would have been a hit.
Except that this song is better(more melodic)than anything Springsteen has ever played. What the heck is it with that guy's music? How can people like it? Well, it's a matter of taste. Yuk. This is more like what I like.
I was working at a Top 40 station at the time this song and "Running" came out. I thought they were great. But radio didn't even give him a chance. The story I heard was that a lot of Program and Music Directors saw the name on the record and all they dould think of was .."oh that's the Twist guy"...and threw it away without giving it a chance. These two songs had hit written all over them! But that's the sorry state of radio then and not much has changed today.

And he's not in the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame. Shame on them. He deserves it more than some already there.

Same here, I've been looking for years.
It was played on the "Hard Rock" station in Indianapolis in the early '80's. Does anyone have the studio version that can be uploaded?
