Wow...Francescatti is so good! What a great violinist...one of the greatest. And his Mozart is so crystal clear with that unique sound. One of the legends of the violin.
Many years ago some of the world's greatest violinists were asked which concertos they found the most difficult to succeed with and play to their own satisfaction.. Remarkably, Mozart was the almost unanimous choice.
So exposed. One feels so naked. The purity of tone and technique also come into play.
For my money, Francescatti and Artrhur Grumiaux were the best.
you just need to respect and watch in absolute wonder and astonishment at the way hes able to bring out even the most insignificant of staccatos into a rich and full note as beautiful as any other
szeryng and francescatti...my 2 absolute favourite violinists and biggest influences
I've been working on this for months now as an audition piece, and I love how he seems to smile through the whole thing! I like the end of the cadenza to be a little more dramatic, with the triple stop starting at the D. I like how he handles the other triple stops in the cadenza that, when you look at them and play them, just seem insane!
I think this man had the most unique style of any master I have heard..one can always recognize when Francescatti is playing without question. If I were limited to one adjective to describe his playing I would simply use, "Beautiful" This man has given me so many years of listening joy and inspiration
I was scared the entire time. Francescatti is a brilliant performer and violinist hands-down, but however, his interpretation was way too harsh and forceful for my tastes.
What a joy to listen to this. Such a warm and singing voice, "voix humaine." My old teacher used to say that whatever else I might think about Francescatti, he never wavered from his musical convictions.
Beautiful in all respects. I prefer many early violinists. Francescatti was my teacher's teacher however, so I am biased at best. I think I like this version and the Milstien recording of the concerto best. I've performed this concerto several times and it remains so charming, among my favorite Mozart works for the instrument.
I have the highest regard for Francescatti. His recording of Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole is the best I ever heard, though I heard it only once over the radio. His vibrato is spectacular.
That said, I'm not sure I like his style for this particular piece. A bit heavy and too glamourous for me. I respect his vibrato, but i think he over uses it a bit.
is this the joachim cadenza?

I think that really we have an Antonio Stradivari violin, cause its tune and sound is absolut & perfect thanks to Francescatti of course

Okay...I finally believe in String Theory.
Speriamo che Antonio Stradivari abbia avuto il piacere di sentire una cosa simile sull'suo instrumento.
Grazie infinite per questa perla preziosissima.

Tou're right about the harshness. Oistrakh and Perlman have more warmth by far. Technically excellent though.
