  • is this the joachim cadenza?

  • bellisimo!

  • virtuosissimo

  • His violin sounds so bright.

  • He plays it like he would 've been drunk.. Intonation bad, frases too bad... How can I find anyone, who plays this Mozart normally???

  • bet this guy got all the bitches

  • Wow...Francescatti is so good! What a great violinist...one of the greatest. And his Mozart is so crystal clear with that unique sound. One of the legends of the violin.

  • He just looks like such a nice old guy! I bet he had a good sense of humor.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • excellent performance

  • He had much better violins, but he deserves that of course.

  • Many years ago some of the world's greatest violinists were asked which concertos they found the most difficult to succeed with and play to their own satisfaction.. Remarkably, Mozart was the almost unanimous choice.

So exposed. One feels so naked. The purity of tone and technique also come into play.

For my money, Francescatti and Artrhur Grumiaux were the best.

  • โบว์แปลกๆเนาะ..

  • you just need to respect and watch in absolute wonder and astonishment at the way hes able to bring out even the most insignificant of staccatos into a rich and full note as beautiful as any other

szeryng and francescatti...my 2 absolute favourite violinists and biggest influences

  • What a character..WOW! Francescatti is love for music. So warm...so genuin...so honest. Tears and silence and a sleepless night.

  • of course he was amazing! I'd love 2 play this some time. Who has tips on bow spacato on the upper sections of bow? I could REALLY use the help.

  • Why would you spiccato on the upper part of the bow? It won't work...

  • @aaliyamarie94 u dont

  • It was really well played, but he started in D Maj. and he got sharper and sharper to get to D# Maj. after 14 measures....hmmmm.....

  • @ctgartland no

  • cadenza. :)

  • where did you get this really old video?

  • dont ask him, he probably hypercam-ed it, it says unregistered at the top

    this is a nice piece

  • I love his rendition of Joachim's cadenza. :)

  • Do not give up.

  • wow he played the joachim cadenza really nicely, im gonna try and play it like him :)

  • This is amazing and give it a 5/5, absolutely wonderful, and a lot better than mine.

  • totalmente increible

  • too easy!...at least thats how he makes it sound xD A true professional

  • just gorgeous.

  • Jerzy Semkov-conductor

Orchestre de la Societe du Conservatoire

    Aix-en -Provence 1967

  • amazing...

  • some out of tunes i pressume

  • this cadenza he played it a liitle too rushed i think.. but it's good

  • holy shit, CADENZA! that changed my life.

im learning this now. that cadenza is going to be a bitch to learn. but im excited :]

  • I've been working on this for months now as an audition piece, and I love how he seems to smile through the whole thing! I like the end of the cadenza to be a little more dramatic, with the triple stop starting at the D. I like how he handles the other triple stops in the cadenza that, when you look at them and play them, just seem insane!

  • Wow Francescatti's entry is so powerful and so clear!

  • oh and who's cadenza he is using?

  • JOSEPH

  • thanks presuming that this is joseph joachim. Do you know the recording and the conductor?

  • I have study this work for a music essay,do you/any one know when, where this was recorded, which orchestra it is and who is conducting? thanks

  • tutta sostanza

    che bel modo di suonare!!!!!!!

    altro che la fischer

  • bello!!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG WHOA CADENZA

  • im playing this =]]]

  • me too haha

  • I think this man had the most unique style of any master I have heard..one can always recognize when Francescatti is playing without question. If I were limited to one adjective to describe his playing I would simply use, "Beautiful" This man has given me so many years of listening joy and inspiration

  • I think that really we have an Antonio Stradivari violin, cause its tune and sound is absolut & perfect thanks to Francescatti of course

  • Okay...I finally believe in String Theory.

Speriamo che Antonio Stradivari abbia avuto il piacere di sentire una cosa simile sull'suo instrumento.

Grazie infinite per questa perla preziosissima.

  • he's my inspired me to play violin. Thanx Zino.

  • clever-_-

  • mozart

  • Does anyone know which cadenza he plays?

  • hey plays the joachim cadenza but he takes out the last 4 bars.

  • cool! Thanks

  • I have to play the same cadenza o.O I'm not sure if I'm good enough for this :(

  • wow, he really has a one-of-a-kind tone to his playing

  • Wonderful! I'm so glad to see some great Francescatti on youtube. He's one of my favorite violinists but he's kind of hard to find sometimes.

  • @beethovenian totally agree.......

  • Amazing.

I am performing this piece for my Senior Concerto Concert, in an hour and a half.

  • good luck man.

  • It went great! I'm probably gonna post a video of it... so glad to be done with it.

  • I was scared the entire time. Francescatti is a brilliant performer and violinist hands-down, but however, his interpretation was way too harsh and forceful for my tastes.

  • Tou're right about the harshness. Oistrakh and Perlman have more warmth by far. Technically excellent though.

  • Does he play the Joachim cadenza here? My god he is amazing - there's a reason half of our music is edited by Francescatti ;)

  • most of it- he drops bars now and then.

  • superb playing, wonderful cadenza

  • What a joy to listen to this. Such a warm and singing voice, "voix humaine." My old teacher used to say that whatever else I might think about Francescatti, he never wavered from his musical convictions.

  • there is something unique about his tone i cant quite put into words

  • is that a good thing?

  • yes wonderful sound

  • Beautiful in all respects. I prefer many early violinists. Francescatti was my teacher's teacher however, so I am biased at best. I think I like this version and the Milstien recording of the concerto best. I've performed this concerto several times and it remains so charming, among my favorite Mozart works for the instrument.

  • i like milsteins mozart too and grumiaux

id have to say ehnes is equally alluring

  • is name is on like half the music i own

  • i dont like mozart played by vibrato vibrato and more vibrato. ble

  • then don't watch this version then genius

  • The king of vibrato (italian) Love oh yeah

  • I have the highest regard for Francescatti. His recording of Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole is the best I ever heard, though I heard it only once over the radio. His vibrato is spectacular.

  • can u help me where would i find mozart DK448 re major

  • Zino Francescatti! Honor to music, glory of the art of Violin playing..

  • can u help me where would i find mozart DK448 re major

  • I really enjoyed this. Thanks for posting it. I am sick of looking at 10 year olds performing AMus pieces.

  • Abso-fucking-lutely.

That said, I'm not sure I like his style for this particular piece. A bit heavy and too glamourous for me. I respect his vibrato, but i think he over uses it a bit.

Otherwise, great work on his part!
