  • The problem starts with our use of language . "Free trade" now means corporations are free to do whatever they want to whomever they want without consequence . Democracy by definition cannot be forcibly pushed onto people . Terrorist and foreigner with a different religion are not synonyms . Capitalism does not equal Democracy . Conservative is a desciptive relative term and should be used as an adjective not a noun . Liberal does not mean anyone to the left of yourself .

  • @MindofaJedi I pretty much agree with everything you typed here.

  • Your analysis of the current patterns of Euro-American colonialism is fucking brilliant!

  • Many screwball nations have been made by bankers over the years. After WW2 the nation of Cechoslovakia was made combining both Ceck and Slovak tribes.. Two groups that traditionallly didn't get along! Sad.. Africa also has nations whose borders were made by bankers or victorious armies that combine tribes/nations of people who traditionally competed against eachother.. thanks UN/IMF/City of London..

  • its not just the west, its china and india too. theyr ein africa heavily to exploit people and flood african markets with cheaper made chinese good putting african manufacturers out of business

  • For a second there, I was bothered by your plea against privatization - but quickly realized that when you say "privatization" you mean ownership title transfer by the puppet regime to its owners and friends. There is no problem with pure privatization - in which case the locals would benefit far more than with so-called public ownership - even if the actual private owners were not natives.

  • Proteanview, what you are talking about is a disease that the colonial powers and bankers have visited uipon the entire world. The strife you see in western Asia today is because of British imperialistic policies, with borders arbitrarily being drawn regardless of ethnic boundaries. Same happened in south eastern Asia, best example being Indonesia, raped and polluted by the USA corporations.

Same rings true with South America. The UK and US continue to rape the world to this day

  • thanks

  • how come you dont talk the african american english come on man keep it real.

  • WTF is African-American english?

They didn't teach that in school.

  • African development represents a second chance for all of us. For the last 200 or so years, we have been following the industrial west's development model, first losing our primary sector and now are secondary sector. We begin to rely on imports and lose our jobs overseas. African development could potentially open a new road towards sustainable development and environmental stewardship. What a fantastic opportunity!

  • The goal of the tournament is to bring the world together for the love of soccer. This should be the goal. The monetary benefits should be gravy.

Africa suffers from a multitude of problems, most stemming from colonialization. I think the World Cup should not be used to shed light on African problems. The World Cup in South Africa will come and go - African poverty, starvation, HIV and AIDS, disease and instability will remain.

  • That is a thoughtful and true response. What a wonderful world it would be, if we let people be...

  • Protean is articulate, engaging, intelligent, entertaining, and thought provoking.

KEEP THIS UP!!! PROTEANVIEW FOR PREZ!!!

  • As an African...I agree with your video.

  • Yeah I mean there are alot of things wrong with Africa really, mainly it does depend on the West too much, but that is not all. African leaders are corrupt, far too much tribal ruling for any country as a whole to truly prosper (but conflict to be constant), attitude to disease is 100 years behind the rest of the world and then on top of that you have alot of baron land and water shortages, especially in the east. If I'm honest the future doesn't look too good.

  • but then how can they maintain the comforts that they're accustomed to, when out on safari vacation?

  • I've lived in dozens of countries in Africa, and I'm going back soon. All I can say is that it's a basket case, and always will be. Even before "the white man." I just barely made it out of the Rwanda Genocide, and on my way out I came across a tribe that practice cannibalism.

  • How do you know that Africa was a basket case before "the white man"? Are you over 1,000 years old?

Plz....don't confuse your meth high with reality. The tribe that you saw committing cannibalism was your dad going down on your sister.

Say not to drugs. From an African.

  • 1) How do we know that there was a bubonic plague, ice age, a French Revolution, Roman Empire... Well maybe you don't but I do...

2)Niggamania, the only confusion is you resorting to insults because you can't do any better, either that or a meth high reality is the only point of view you can relate to due to your geography and your Family's upbringing. The flash backs of the incest you wrote about sound severe. I too have seen this in Africa. Some African militants rape goats in fear of AIDS.

  • First....what do you know of Africa? And please remember it is a continent and not a country...cough Palin.

Second...you resulted to insult by thinking that African a basket case since it is obvious that the only history you are familiar with is and I quote "French revolution, Roman Empire"...basically European history.

Go ahead....teach me an African about my history. I dare you.

  • If you really are from Africa then you must be from a country in Africa, this is only ignorance on your part to discredit me. Cough on that.

So you are racist against what history I can, and can not use? Very telling... The same point applies no matter the ethnicity, but you can't see that.

Why are you changing the subject? I'm not going to play tag just to following your monkey ass. That's a gutter hole attempt that won't work on me. Is this the meth reality you alluded to? Checkmate.

  • Oh please....

Like I said....teach me an African about my history. Fail you did.

Stick to your French and Roman history.

  • Still waiting...go ahead you non-African and teach me about Africa.

    ROFL....

  • Do you have poor reading comprehension skills? I've already addressed you on this "ultimatum." I see you're laughing so you have my pity.

  • Like I said...you are not African, have never been to Africa and know nothing about Africa.

Yours sincerely - An African. Thank you very much :-0

  • in all fairness, since you refer to cannibalism, it is an oingoing issue in subsaharan Africa. A few years ago, the pygmies appealed for aid to the UN because they were being captured and EATEN by neighboring Bantu people. Same goes on in South Africa TODAY with human genitals being consumed for "magic" powers!

  • Yeah right. Isn't that what your forefathers said back in early 1400s?

Link or article references that includes interviews and not heresay by Western journalists would be nice.

But since you wish to talk about cannibalism, there was a famous one by the name of Dahmer in the US. An ongoing issue in America according to the FBI.

  • you're an ignorant racist. Dahmer was one man. If I refered to the tens of thousands of black men convicted in the US each year for violent crimes, you'd see them as individual cases.

Learn to read, and then do some research about zulus and the case of the pygmies appealing to the UN. Truth always hurts the liars most and you happen to be one.

And second, you have no idea who my forefathers were or what they were doing in 1400, which proves you further as a stereotypical racist

  • Takes onef to know one my racist friend...lol.

Dahmer was a man with a name. What name of one person can you name that ate a pygmy?

Oh wait...that's right you can't cause all you have is hearsay by the UN...lol.

    Yawn...next...lol.

    Yawn...next...lol.

  • @nzingamina Sure, RACIST, go back to your little hole you ignorant RACIST, no place for you here. Learn to spell, learn to read and write and then come debate, in the meantime, get yourself an education so you'll stop being an ignorant RACIST goodnight now RACIST

  • lol....I will after you, my lil racist friend.

    Yawn next...lol.

  • @nzingamina whatever you say you racist projector of racism and racist views

  • Takes one to know one....lol.

  • I wish they caught up with you :-)

  • Thank you :)

  • Not at all :-)

  • This British/Wampanoag metis Canadian will give you all or most of your argument!

I wonder how much of Africas woes though are due to certain elements in Africa itself (the Mugabes, the genocides, etc), or or they simply the tools of Western neocolonialism and greed?

  • o Israel has killed Americans (eg. Sailors on USS Liberty, Rachel Corrie, etc...)

o Israel spies on this country (eg. Pollard, Kadish, AIPAC, etc...)

o Israel bought our politicians with our taxes.

o Israel steals our taxes, hence their higher income.

o Israel uses our country as their toilet.

  • Five stars

  • That was an excellent post. I watch your channel from time to time, but this is the first time I have responded.

I have long been a student of the activities of the IMF & WB. I am also a South African ex-pat and have spent time in Gambia & Senegal.

While I enjoyed your post, I do have one small disassociation, While it may be true that national boundaries were drawn by colonial powers wanting to keep nations week, those nations now seem enjoy a great deal of national pride and identity.

  • The problem with Africa is that it should've united before each country got independence. Now, each country has a sense of national identity, each government has a need for power and wealth - leading to corruption and many countries now want that same materialist life that comes with Western influence. If the West completely pulled away from Africa, I don't actually think it would make any difference. Anyway, the biggest threat to Africa is global warming, droughts are getting worse each year!!

  • The reason why Africa isn't united is because Africa is a continent and not a country. The different country's in Africa has got their own languages and cultures.

  • No you don't understand, Africa is rich in resource but the reason it is so poor is mainly due to its dependency on West. Prior to the first country getting independence, who I believe was Ghana, countries in Africa never really had a real sense of nationalism, mainly due to an obvious tribal ruling more so than a state ruling. Had the entire continent come together, sharing its resources with each other, it would've been strong enough to survive without depending on the West...in theory anyway!

  • Its the same way in mexico, we drill the oil, sell it to the USA, they refine it and sell it back, we got the oil but we need to pay them in order to benefit from it, so we go nowhere

  • "Will the whole of Africa benefit from the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa?"

    it can't hurt right? RRRIIIGGGHHHTTT???...

  • The comment about national boundaries is correct. But I don't think we can say "A benefits more than B" from a contract that A and B both voluntarily enter into.

  • I usually agree with you but here I don't. The idea that corporations are "foreign" to Africa is only true in the sense that literacy, higiene and civilised norms are also foreign. The foreign corporations do not "control" the diamonds the trees or the oil. The price of these is simply determined by supply and demand. Many Africans want to build their own corporations, not destroy the capitalist system.

  • Well, I suppose we can argue about what control means. Do women control men in all societies that outlaw rape? Arguably, women use their sexuality to control men and wherever rape is forbidden (e.g. modern Africa).

  • what? oh god you are sick

  • no, you are. You are also out of control

  • unblock me NOW!

  • Pretty interresting ideas but the problem is not new. The one trillion dollars question is how to defeat these ouside forces ?

  • well said!! and AGREED!

  • Awsome idea bro!! And people wonder why Africa is so slow to develop. Greed by others is the reason.

  • Brilliant, proteanview. I am wholly behind your sentiment--one only wonders when all the madness will stop. Let's hope sooner than later.

  • excellent

  • you guys know half of the $ aids to African doesnt actually come in form of money. It would be nice if they actually delivered money so they can use it however they wanted, but instead it come in form of military arms, medicine and food.

Also no more aids to dictator who use them to line their pockets

  • Absolutely Brilliant!

Well said, concise mordant and to the point. ProteanView has a way of condensing topics into identifiable catch phrases that sum up the entire paradigm. Brilliant...this is the best one yet!!!

Books and libraries of books condensed into accessible and understandable language that is both persuasive and powerful. Love it!!

  • No one anywhere on this planet can "benefit" from exploiting bodies.

Did anyone with a brain fail to notice that Football is one of the largest.

  • easy to say in the comfort we enjoy

  • Comfort? Where? Germany appears on the surface to be at peace. Likes also to talk of comforts. Meanwhile producing huge amounts of arms and tanks for other countries to cause nothing other than discomfort in foriegn lands. No one anywhere on this planet can "benefit" from exploiting bodies.

Did anyone with a brain fail to notice that football is one of the largest war mongering associations. It is most definitely based on power with enjoyment somewhere in the shadows.

  • Western Civilization (if you can call it civilized) has been built on years and years of exploitation, which is still taking place today.

  • @wellingtonsc75 so is EVERY civilization.. name one truly egalitarian civilization with zero human rights abuses..

  • @wellingtonsc75 so is EVERY civilization.. name one truly egalitarian civilization with zero human rights abuses.. the atlantians? oh wait.. they don't exist..

  • Great video

  • Also be on the look for The West's favorite "boy" Obama with the next game AFRICOM (this will be again be put on the table when he vists Ghana)

    AFRICOM = African Re-Colonization

  • Excellent rant. Keep the IMF vultures out of africa. Support HR 1207 to get them out of the USA!

  • proteanview, i was going to comment here on alot of what you just said, thankfully you've spared me the lecture. the whole question of helping 'third world' countries makes me sick when the speaker is a westerner. western way of life is only possible by exploiting those continents. it won't change, ever. not until industrialisation is over. so let's say 100 years, give or take.

  • I failed one class in college: African History... I will never forget that Dr. Debbie Sanders telling me that "slave like conditions does not denote a condition of slavery" and flunking me.

  • wait what? She flunked you for that? Seems highly unlikely.

  • Comment removed

  • lol, nope. But it would be pretty bad if she flunked you cause she didnt like your answers.

  • Sanders, is that you?!

Either she didn't like my answers on the final, or my answers were crappy, or both. *sniffle*

  • The problem with many countries in Africa is that the dictators are serving nobody but themselves. Mugabe is a prime example.

  • make it plain bro. But you know the World Bank is too busy destroying currencies to let people handle their own business.

  • You can't just throw the brakes on the development of africa. I can't be sure, but if you completely isolated africa at this moment, im pretty sure millions would starve. They just dont have the infrastructure to support their rapidly expanding population w/o outside support. It's not a pretty situation over there but what's done is done.

  • I agree.

  • same here

  • To the western nations and China development in Africa has nothing to do with the needs or interests of Africans. Development refers Strictly to their own corporate and nationalistic intentions.

Africa is a huge mystery to most westerners but it doesn't keep persons such as 5B (comment below this) from having strong opinions based on ignorance and self interest.

A lot of money and effort goes into keeping Africans educationally ignorant and powerless.

  • I lived in Africa for a year--during apartheid. I'm ashamed to say that my father was one of the guys helping corporatize South Africa, specifically the gold mines. In my defense, I was just a kid and was the only "white" person to socialize with the few other "black" kids around. They chalked it up to me being a goofy American.

Anyways, you're absolutely right about the corporations. Africa is the most beautiful, rich and varied continent in the world, and it's being raped.

  • Africa is a incredibly complex issue and one which few people outside of Africa appreciate. It is very easy to be an armchair activist when actually on the ground the reality is quite different. I agree generally with the sentiments of this video but I would like add a controversial caveat, it takes two to tango. One thing is for sure Africa needs stability, needs an African solution to African problems.

  • The natural resources of Africa have always been controlled and its governments supported by the big western companies but now the new Big Money controller and supporter of dictators is China and it has even less problems with human rights ( e.g. Tibet, Burma ,N Korea ) so long as the essential stability and continued supply of raw materials is maintained. This even includes buying western mining companies to enlarge and protect supplies that fuel its coal fired American dream.

  • Excellent, as always.

Made even better in contrast with some of the ignorance displayed in some posts.

  • O.o But most of African tribes can't live off the land. That's why we keep having to give them free food.

They keep having sex and not looking forward to see whether or not they can support that kid.

Other than that I completely agree. We need to stay out of their, and all other countries business. Then again....we need some type of scapegoat to get out of this debt.

  • this is true. i would like to know proteanview's response to this.

the problems in africa started when we went there to try and colonize it. if they're content to live in dirt and what we define as poverty then i say let them.

its too complicated now, though. the only way to correct it would be to go hands off no matter how bad it got over there. let the warlords rape their own continent or let the honest people fight and win.

i say leave it to them.

  • You make excellent points. Great vid. :)

  • word.

  • I don't have anything to say, except that that was an excellent response.

  • Ugh....

The old "Corporations" and "Puppet Regimes" arguments.

With all due respect, you need to do a LOT more research.

These are just knee jerk arguments with no substance.

  • here here

the west has been raping Africa in every sense of the word for centuries and then turns around and points the blame for the continent's problems on its inhabitants.

but yeah, what a coincidence that malnutrition, AIDS, genocide, and civil war never seemed to be issues on the "dark continent" until Europeans set foot there

  • One only has to look at the differences between Nigeria and mnay iof the Arab countries .....Nigeria is third in the production of petrolium and it's a mess .....Dubai is a modern capital becoming advanced more each day ....the wealth is not being shared in Nigeria by the puppet government there .........not an expert but I can see the difference !........

  • Good points! I agree.

  • I don't see how the FIFA world cup has to do with any of that. Just sounds like another hippie rant.

FIFA is a world organization. Not some western company trying to get some exposure in another continent. It's a big event, but it's not like the Olympics. It's not driven by corporate incentives. It will be a beautiful competition of world futbol and thats it.

  • arent u supposed to be playing basketball not talking about economics

  • If they are freed of corporate 1rst world takes, great however, most likely they will be buying the machines at westworld prices, agri and textilemachines that have lastly proven to destroy denature and pollute all the while fattening the rich corporate lords of industry.

  • hahaha this is great proteanview. I don't think they were expecting to get answers like this from a westerner because it almost sounds like your condemning western society. Which I agree with. Screw the IMF, trilateral commission, CFR, Rockefeller, kissenger and the NWO! one of your best!

    proteanview for president!

  • There are too many African countries in Africa. Too many civil wars. Africa is hopeless and should be nuked.

  • Well, that was the stupidest thing I've read on YouTube in a while (and that's saying a lot).

  • Of course, it's not really an "all or nothing" scenario if we don't allow it to be. If we can take some of the positives of each culture, bring them together, and harness them, we would be so much better off as a world. Of course, this may mean that we have to become fluent, as a world, in other languages, etc. It won't be easy, but I think it would be worth it in the long run. There's really no easy answer...

  • You, sir, are brilliant.

  • I agree with you. I see the same corruption taking place in China with all the Mickey D's that have been built and established. It's just really sad. It's not about the people, it's about the greed.

  • All true!

Everywhere that the money system has been imposed, human and environmental degradation has followed.

Greed is often exacerbated and encouraged by the groups that want a piece of the action and so wars, poverty and disease prevail and the land is stripped to fill the coffers of the greedy.

This privatization of water sources is on the table in this country as well. The current bill for the Clean Water Restoration Act is to take control of ALL water. On private as well as public land.

  • What you said is all good but not really relevant to the question they posted. The soccer world cup is being held in the country of South Africa and 95% of the benefit will go to South Africa not to Africa as a whole.

South Africa does have some problems, but overall it is a very stable democratic country which is ver well developed and hold some of the richest black Africans in the world.

South Africa doesn't have a puppet regime but a peacefully elected democratic government.

  • "South Africa doesn't have a puppet regime but a peacefully elected democratic government. "

    ********

I guess compared to all the other territories in Africa that have been raped, pillaged and exploited for her resources it's all relative but you should do a YouTube search on R3NDI3R and try getting him to buy what you're trying to sell.

  • Well, SA don't have a puppet regime and they do have a peacefully democratic elected government. That is a fact, no matter what R3ndi3r may think.

Is South Africa influenced by global economic events like every other country in the world? Of course it is.

You can't have a closed economy and you need foreign trade and investment since you can't produce everything locally. So of course policy decisions will be influenced, but that doesn't make you a puppet. :)

  • 5 stars

    boycott shell gas

  • true true

  • great video!!

  • Africa is, has been and will continue to be abused the the 'west'. Raped and pillaged for hundreds of years. Kept in a continual state of depravation and poverty. Basically the what the banksters would like to do with the rest of the world. Can't fight much if you are starving, can you?

  • The west has nothing to do with one of Africas biggest problems, greedy, corrupt black leaders.

  • They exist in the west also. Plus Asia, plus latin America, hell, you get them everywhere. :)

Africa's biggest problem is education. People can't read or write and most can't even afford a TV (or food for that matter).

There is very little prospects for gaining knowledge and therefore for self improvement.

  • The West does have something to do with Africa. Just look at Britain. Where in the world doesn't the U.S. and England have something to do in any country?

  • what's in your hand?

  • Couldn't be said better. Keep spreading the word. People need to have major change of mind in regards to this kind of issue. Western civilization is a model more for control than for independence.

  • In 20 years China will own Africa and in 50 years Chinese will outnumber Africans.

  • That means that our corporate/bankster elite will not be able manipulate, rob, and murder Africans to get gain! If you keep them all stirred up you can take what you like!

None of this will happen till 'we the people' pull our heads out of our asses and round up these criminal elites and regulate our own bullshit. That type of regulation would require us to mind our own biz.

    I agree 5/5.

  • The only reason why Asian intervention is not significant in Africa is because the West got there first. Nobody is an angel dude

  • You are not reading the right information. Africa is not having it at all.

  • well the west doesn't know what the hell they are doing so, following them is like a death sentence

  • What's with the Americans' need to jealously be involved? To meddle in other belief systems & cultures? To police others according to Western customs, integrating that into everything?!

  • Until a black African elite rises up, and is actually wanting to help its fellow countrymen, stopping foreign corporations from stealing won't change the life of Africans.

Please don't take for granted the way you are living and thinking in a western country. We went through 300 years of fighting for a more equal and just society.

  • Yes, but look how well all that meddling has worked out in the Middle East!

There's as much chance that they will stop meddling in Africa as there is for them to stop meddling in America or Europe.

To get them to listen, you would have to show how it is in their best interest to stop meddling. If what you say isn't punctuated by dollars and euros, you're not even speaking their language.

  • HELLZ YA!

  • That's right, it's all white peoples fault, isn't it?

Africans never had tribalism and wars before the white man came and infected the oh so perfect Africans, right?

Isolationists are as usual, full of shit.

  • That doesn't justify the misdeeds of the always opportunistic caucasoid with respect to Apartheid and European colonialism all throughout the Motherland and beyond.

  • Ofc not, and I didn't say that.

But to simply point fingers at the west and say that it is the root of the problem is just plain ignorant.

  • They screw with everyone everywhere. Africa needs to be let alone.

  • Tabo Mbeke tried to liberate his country from foreigners by refusing to accept the HIV=AIDS hypothesis and the pressure was so great that he relinquished -

Likewise in Nigeria, where I taught in 1981/82, it is a nonsense to have a federation of 20+ states when it is only beneficial to the multinationals to deal with one country when ripping it off for the oil; likewise with Angola and its off-shore oil, and so the story continues.

  • You got to be kidding right? Not providing people with anti retroviral drugs was Mbeki's worst failure. Thousands died because of his lack of policy on Aids and his loony health minister. Instead they punted garlic and beetroot as a remedy.

Many of my countrymen died because of Mbeki and guess what? The majority rejoiced when he was kicked out and Jacob Zuma and co. took over.

  • There are simple machines and techniques that could create better living conditions for even the most destitute people. The only difficulty is that they would expand their numbers until things aren't so great again, and the previously destitute people will be in a position to create more destitute people. What to do? What to say?

  • yep, western civilizations fucked up africa pretty good. I bet Africa would be in good shape had these stupid conquerors never layed foot on it.

  • i love you man.....i know i say this all the time.........but your rock

  • Its their politicians that wont create industry with their own wealth. They could take the money gotten from other countries and invest it into their economy, Instead they buyy luxuries and hide them in Swiss bank accounts.

  • FOR THE last 5 years the rate of angola's economy has been over 10 percent...........

  • exactly right but i'll tell you this. there are a lot of africans in tokyo that i've spoken to and they don't even realize what's being done to their continent.

  • Beautiful response. Very nice work, man.

    Peace.

  • well said. instead of doing "progress", civilized countries need to take many steps back. what people need is the understanding that industrial society is harmful to living beings. we are living beings, not machines, so we shouldn't try to replace ourselves with mechine-like systems. we have to learn to love and forget about progress.

  • Spot on

  • agreed.

  • I can't agree more !

  • AMEN to the Nth POWER!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the most intelligent video you've posted so far.

  • Glad you added me a while back Proteanview, your vids are great.

I'm curious as to what you think would happen though even if the west pulled out and stopped exploiting Africa. I think Russia, China, etc. will only fill in for the U.S. and others (China already has a large stake in Africa). While I completely agree with you, I just don't think Africa has much of a fighting chance since every nation exploits the continent every chance they get.

  • Well said - sounds like you may have read the book "CONFESSIONS OF AN ECONOMIC HITMAN". Am I right? If not - I think you'd REALLY enjoy it.

  • Don't even have to read that, just some good ol' history books will talk about our past puppet regimes in Chile, Iran, Russia, and more.

  • WOOT!!!

  • Wow, very well stated :) I love that you got all that information into under 3 minutes... would have taken me a lot longer :)
