This summer I had the privilege of being able to travel to Vienna. I listened to this very video endlessly before I went, while packing, doing work, etc: it's been my dream from a very young age to visit Vienna. Now as I return to this gorgeous piece of music, it brings back such fond memories! Vienna is an incredible, historical place brimming with the most beautiful and breathtaking culture. This piece complements the beautiful city of Vienna so well: I hope to return, God-willing, someday!
@ scmc28, You just put into the most vivid and wonderful words what this piece makes me feel in my heart! And @ waldteufel78, my German is ragged at best, but vielen Danke! You have impeccable taste in music.
Incredible, how this wonderful music comes from the same place an Evil Monster was born and killed more than 6.000.000 human beings during the 1940s. Even though he was a homosexual full of hate, he never had compassion for the ones like him.
Why do you always have to mention Hitler huh? Totally unnecessary to mention him. I don't mention your stupid forefathers that killed 20 million native americans every time I see a music video from america... so shut up and enjoy this beautiful piece of music you arrogant bastard.
I stop being a human when my ears and brain meet this music. My feet fly in the air like birds' feather; my mind soars like a butterfly gliding through flowers and trees; my pupils radiate rainbow colors; . . .
This redition is superb. The rhythm is true to waltz, and it is very good with details which just shows the conductor's love toward this music. It is so good that I can smell the scent of flowers and leaves.
@FabDN41 Amazing you just have described the USA, the fucking terrorists of the world ,the thieves and criminal serial killers. The Supreme court imposed their will in the people of the USA when they chose George Bush THE RETARD as President(TWICE), what western values?? The greed of a few? Eat SHIT asshole Republican. Remember during Bush was not freedom of expression DUMB ASS, anybody expressing their points of view WENT TO JAIL ASSHOLE
@lizbrennerurrutia The Supreme court didn't impose their will on the USA, there was a case of electoral votes that was involved with CONGRESS.
Hell, I didn't know that and all I did was do a bit of research that only took 2-3 minutes. Jesus, dude. You really need to do a bit of research. Bush had 47.9% of the vote, and Gore had 48.4%. I honestly doubt that that's the will of the few being imposed on many. 47.9% of the American population is a sizable amount.
I just got back from Vienna this week ... I miss it already ... and I am starting to think that I should learn German in order to live there someday ....
BEWARE POSTERS AND VIEWERS: delete all evidence of this and other similar films. Under European Union laws governing cultural inclusivity, they may constitute a hate crime (in particular, they are ostensibly offensive to Muslims) and you could find yourself in jail for 10 years for even viewing them.
Perhaps the whole thing with the intro is a bit long for You Tube settings, but a two-part posting with the exquisite intro (including the lovely lilt of the zither) would be magic. How about it someone?
I agree with Viennaphile...cafe mit schlag with Linz torte...the Opera...Philharmonic...the V. woods...in a rathskeller downing white wine with schnitzel...the Ringstrasse...Lippzangers...fine musems...all the best composers flooded this town cuz of its joy de vivre with a waltz twist. All hail the city of waltzes!
This is an evergreen monumental masterpiece of a great love. A monument can be seeen just if you visit the place on the very spot, a musical masterpiece is available for anybody who loves and respects music. It is a fantastic waltz, thank you for making me recall it.
I was a child when I had seen this movie with the title "Tales of the Woods of Vienna". The film showed the life of Mr Strauss and the origin of the Wiener Waltz. Johann Strauss componsed it to his love whom he married later. I can remember almost every single episode of the film as it was on for one week and I watched every single day. At that time I could meet first waltz. I love every waltz of Jun. Strauss but this is my favourite one.
A wonderful experience - the music of Johann Strauss combined with memories of a journey by bus to Kahlenberg last year, followed by a return walk to Grinzing. Many thanks for this delightful posting!

Robert Stolz - Conductor! What a treat! I very much agree with you about The Wiener- Sinfonie-Orchester not laging behind the Philharmonic. It could really not be played better than that. Thank you for sharing this rare version. Greatly appreciated!!! Just allow me one request: PLEASE don't call this a song. It isn't!!! It is a walze!!! Okay?
Ooooooo how lovely. The world doesn't know what's its missing anymore. Sad very sad! This had to be prior to 1914, afterwards, it started the end of the peaceful known world. Bravo Strauss, bravo Leher! Bravo all who love real MUSZIK.
Ah ah Robert Stolz. J'ai en coffret "Die Fledermaus", "Der Zigeunerbaron", et "Wiener Blut" sous sa direction avec Rudolf Schock (je préfère Wunderlich, et de loin...), Hilde Güden, Wilma Lipp, Walter Berry, Eberhard Wächter (divin Don Giovanni avec Giulini !).
Le livret d'accompagnement est en allemand. Nich spechen deutsch, hélas...
Kudos indeed, for one the greatest composers of the most beautiful waltzes and polkas ever, an incomparable maestro indeed in his field of music, Bravo! Stupendo! Einfach Super!
The light of the world shines through this beautiful piece of music. Clouds part and all the angels sing a divine chorus of thanks that this man reflected their golden world in such perfection. Surely the angels don't waltz, though somehow... I can see it. =)
