I'm into bodybuilding about 6 months by now , my back squats are going really GREAT , but I wanna learn to front squat yet ! I tryed 2 or 3 times to do it , but my shoulders are hurting so much when i place the bar , even just the bar (44 lbs ) !!!! Can I do something about that ?
hey tuan i have a questions is there a reason why you dont go all the way down; im assuming if you go all the way down it puts more strain on your back, I was just wondering because i used to have lower back pain on my lower left side and its diminished through proper stretching and warming up and im back to doing legs and i heard front squats involves more core and legs then the ordinary squats, i would greatly appreciate a response keep up the good work bro , Louis SA, Tx
you would get more respect if you didnt lie, its nothing wrong with using roids but dont fucking say you have done this naturally when you HAVENT! its PATHETIC
@Glutenbob He's not doing them for powerlifting, he's doing them for bodybuilding. It's a bodybuilding exercise, hence the 'time under tension' technique that he uses, which means that he doesn't go past parallel because this would release the tension on the muscle momentarily, similar to when you lock out in a bench press.
hey man dont listen to these people telling you, it isnt far enough parralell , . . the only thing you get from going past that point is screwed up knees when your thirty.
hey tuan, how can i add more weights if im on plateau on squat and benchpress, i used powerlifting method few reps and more sets, and whats the difference between front and back squats do they have different stimulations?, BTW im also asian, and you're videos are awsome..
@BIGBEN989 fronts squats are much harder than back squats and put hell of alot of stress on your core. By doing more front squats, it will improve your back squats. I have other videos of my doing front squats when I am training from powerlifting and there is a difference between them vs the ones here I am doing for bodybuilding. As for plateaus, look my into your eating and your recovery. tanks for the support
I'm new to weightlifting and want to change up my leg routine for the next few weeks; I've heard that front squats work more of your inner quad so it seems ideal. How are you bracing the bar? It looks like it is against your shoulders and you stabilising it with your hands? Can you please explain?
@loki04sw Im not Japanese, Im Vietnamese. Also, this will be your only warning w/the racial comments. I can see that u have some built up hate and that u lack education from the ignorant comment u have made. Its also obvious that your parents did a poor job in raising you if this is the language u choose to use when commenting towards others. Either way, make any more comment like this one and you will be blocked and your comments will be removed.
always one dickhead commenting "not parallel"... you guys, you dont HAVE to go parallel. some people literally cant go parallel even with bodyweight only because they arent born with the mechanics to do things like that. step reading everything in muscle mags and taking it as "fact". that shit is only opinion. instead try not being so lazy and looking up real studies about fitness/nutrition/supplementation as to not look like an idiot and get better results yourself
Tuan, this is some serious weight and trust me everyone, Front Squats are really, really hard. For me, they are wayyyy harder than back squats. As you probably already know, you're cutting short your ROM but probably because you're getting tired. Go all the way down and bounce from the bottom. Look at professional o lifters when they front squat. It's impressive.
Hey man I'm impressed never really tried squats like that. I'm looking into different exercises right now. I'm going for more power myself, but I need more cardio to get rid of me belly (lol). I was wondering what all you do for cardio besides a run.I run and I jump rope, but Im looking for more equally intensive stuff to do. Also what exercises are good for toning. I've got a good build now but I'm not on your level yet. Thanks for the reply in advance man.
you need to control your nutritional intake first if you ever want to get rid of body fat. the average person only burns 100 to 130 calories (depending if they walk or run) for every mile you complete. that is not even a small bag of chip. also, you have to burn 3600 calories to lose 1 lbs of fat. without control on your intake, it is almost impossible to lose fat
omg why do people whine about not going all the way down. just go all the way down and fuck up your knees for life while smarter people keep on working out with proper 90 degrees form
You're the man Tuan. Keep up the hard work. I wish you the best of luck on your upcoming shows. And thanks for posting these videos, the tips are great and they're motivational.
are you working for strength or hypertrophy in this video? by the way what would you recommend besides the clean and jerk and the snatch for a full body power exercise?
Ok I know ALL of you bitches are experts on here, talking about this guy going "ALL THE WAY DOWN", I bet more that HALF of you are the TYPICAL light bulb build, probably RARELY do fuckin LEGS,walking around all YOKED up TOP and looking RIDICULOUS with PUNY LEGS...LOOK AT THE DUDES QUADS,I think he's reaping the BENEFITS of

floor,NOT going all the way down!"All the way down creates a REST point,no tension on the legs, just as locking out at the top!
thanks for the support omiel. i am glad you understand the difference between bodybuilding and powerlifting. but best not to go to their level of insulting. they are just upset of their own short comings and wish to bring others down with them.
just debate them with a clear head and science, and they will back down knowing that they lost because they could not bring you down to their childish level.
I don't understand why people argue about 'correctly'. There are a lot of different ways to lift and good bodybuilders work out the way that works best for them. Im 100% sure that if Tuan thought burying would help him more for bodybuilding then he would do it......Why would someone so committed and aiming to go pro waste time cheating himself out of it?? He wouldn't....he just knows what works best for his legs. Please try and appreciate this before being a form policeman behind a keyboard.
well yeah but it really depends on what your goals are. if you want to work out quads only, then parallel might be better. but parallel also puts more strain on the knees. when you descend below parallel, most of the load is shifted to the posterior chain (hamstrings, glutes etc.). if you want to get a complete leg workout from squats, full is better both for development and for knee health.
real men understand that in order to achieve their goals, then must modify exercises to match up with what they are trying to achieve. In this case, short range of motion to load the quads with more weight. here are some videos when I am training for powerlifting
"Front Squats (RAW) For Powerlifting. 225 LBS For 15 Reps By Tuan Tran"
"Barbell Squat 500 LBS + 10 LBS Spin Clamps for 2 Reps, One Good One, One Long/Painful by Tuan Tran"
Do you have a video on the front squat i can watch?

@roughneckasian my last name is also Tran, im vietnamese too lol. im 15 years old, 5 feet 5, short yes lol and 125lbs and i got 185lb powerclean on the beginning of june and i lifted since december, cuz i worked my butt off, and sometimes i cant cach powerclean, so i follow your front squat and i get motivated by it, so when i did 185, i couldnt catch, so i go down to front squat and get it up, which helped me alot.
thank u for showing me a video of good form of front squats
thanks for understaning the difference. in bodybuilding, building muscle is the most important thing, where you do not have to go full ROM all the time.
Powerlifting is different for building muscle is NOT the main goal. Its about how much you can Squat, Bench, and Deadlift.
For those of you who wish the my POWERLIFTING FRONT SQUATS, just watch
Front Squats (RAW) For Powerlifting. 225 LBS For 15 Reps By Tuan Tran
not to worry, in powerlifting, I get the range. for an example of that, just watch my vid titled
Front Squats (RAW) For Powerlifting. 225 LBS For 15 Reps By Tuan Tran
I am sure you will notice a difference in range of motion. please remember, powerlifting and bodybuilding are 2 very different goals, and one must train according to what that goal is.
there is a time to pass 90, when powerlifting. however, you can see in this vid, I am a few weeks away from a bodybuilding show, so my goal is not to improve on my squating ablilty, its to put more weight just on my quads to keep them dense. you are not wrong, but one must understand what a person's goal is before understanding why they are doing something.
If you want something on powerlifting, watch "Tuan Tran Barbell Squat Test Got 405 for 5 Reps RAW (no weight belt, suit, knee wraps)"
impressive, nice physique, but you didn't go down very far, not saying it's a bad thing, but for me, i've noticed it's easier when i go down below parallel, and harder on my knees if i stop b4 parallel on front squats.
Oh hell yeah that vid help out a lot man - thanks! I'm about a half hour away front hitting the gym where I'm gon be all over them shits now that I've seen the proper technique! Can't wait ~
one must understand that bodybuilding and powerlifting are 2 DIFFERENT SPORTS, MEANING you train for different goals. in my powerlifitng mode, i would use lighter wts and go deeper. as for bodybuilding, there are times when you do not go full range of motion so you can load heavier and get direct development in target areas. now if you have a vid of youself showing how developed your legs are, i would like to see it for i am always looking to improve my body for bodybuilding.
now if you are looking for a vid on powerlifting, try watcing "Tuan Tran Barbell Squat Test Got 405 for 5 Reps RAW (no weight belt, suit, knee wraps)" this my first week into powerlifting and i am seeing where i am at for i have lost 20 lbs for bodybuilding which i am not at full strength. however, the ROM IS DEEP, AND ITS RAW (NOT EVEN A BELT). and if you think that is something, wait till i get back up to 200 lbs from 180, then the weights starts to really move
This seems like a good place to ask this question...
I've got a muscle imbalance in my quads in that my vastus medialis is too weak. Does anyone know an exercise I can do 'isolate' (as far as that's possible) this muscle to correct the imbalance?
SICK weight on a front squat. If I was to split hairs with ya I'd say open up those hips a bit more and go a little deeper, but still my hats off to ya.
thanks for the comment. will do once i get back into my power lifting off season. lost about 20 lbs for bodybuilding so i about 10% down on strength levels. but once i put some body fat on, its a go on the range
please read the information that is on the right hand side. just click on the more info. i believe it will answer your question, if not, just do a lifttle research on it
How about you go parallel. That's a brotastic front squat. Front squats should be ATG.
Yes i'm a PT and yes I front squat 315 full depth.

do these put more or less stress on the lower back as opposed to regular squats?
Phatfarm1980 2 years ago
lbs for lbs, if puts a hell lot more stress on you core. i can squat up to 550 to 600 lbs, but 400 lbs is my about my limit on the front.

i got this exercise in my new plan..but it hurts so much on the shoulder^^ think just have to go on...
Dada13409 2 years ago
Yeah, I have done these before and they do hurt the shoulders.
I used to wrap a towel around the bar, that solved the problem.
