So it is your opinion that if someone posts something three years ago, and then moves on with their life, then whatever they posted three years ago, must not be valid?
Yes, clearly... your logic is... err.... brilliant! That is what we will call it.
I let it sit in a large tank of water for several weeks. I forget now how much time. Probably something like 90 days. It was quite awhile. Each day I changed the water in the tank completely. Throughout the day, you could see the water slowly turn white, as the lime etc bleed out of the concrete. I kept doing this until I had two solid weeks of the water remaining pure and clear after a 24 hour period. I have had fish in the tank and corals for several years now.
I used rock salt, and also salt pellets for water softeners. I let it dry for several days, and then afterwards let is soak in a barrel of water for several weeks. I changed the water each day, and tested, until it was coming up clean. Just to be safe, I then soaked it all in vinegar for a few days, and then soaked in fresh water a few additional days. Like I say, after two years, it is doing well.
Months to cure, and several water changes. You have to enjoy it. It is as much a part of the hobby as keeping the tank. But after two years, it is still holding strong, the fish are healthy, and the tank looks awesome. Not to mention how fulfilling it is to look at it each day knowing that I did it.
Hey guys, I was wondering whether there is a cement dye on the market that I could used to make live rock... There are plenty of dyes but some of them are very toxic...
the salt is a good idea that it dissolves but salt is no good for cement. and being that it is used as the cement is curing, i wonder how weak it has become.
? Not following your logic.

Hey,
How long did it take for the rock to cure? How many days and how many water changes?
Thanks!

So you mix in rock salt when your making the diy live rock and after it dries/cures the rock salt dissolves and thats why it becomes porous?
