Even disregarding the super long cutscenes, the story isn't that great. What MGS does do is craft a large world which feels alive to the player, but that isn't because of the story and many other games have done the same with far less plot to muck up the experience.

people watching this review, don't judge it by the PC version but by the PS2 version, the controls are awesome, and near enough 0 fps lag. it has a higher frame rate than number 3 due to the fact Snake Eater had a larger environment. This is an awesome game, must buy it if you see it, and even if you already buy it again :D kidding, share the love

hm, knowing Kojima, and his habit/thing for planning out massive stories, could be :)

In an old interview, I remember Kojima saying that one of the reasons they went with Raiden for the second part was to give Snake more development as a character or something., kind of flesh him out more.

I haven't played MGS4 yet sadly :(, seen vids though and heard that Snake has some drug or something that keeps him alive.

i've played MGS1/2/3 on the playstation1/2 and I've also played MGS1/2 on the PC and I honestly don't have any gripes with the controls, I think it's quite easy to play with a mouse and keyboard once you get the hang of it: w,a,s,d for directional buttons, the actual directional arrow buttons are used for inventory controls, tab is select/radio, space and right mouse button is CQC, left mouse button and ctrl is shoot and x is first person, I think those controls are very easy to play with.

It's the technical issues, like the video cards and frame rate issues, that make me royally hate the PC port. The Xbox version is way better, and even the PS2. I have a machine that runs Crysis, and MGS2 STILL chugs when things get busy.

They all go together to tell one of the epic gaming stories :P, including the NES ones.

the NES Metal Gear's are set during the "fall of Zanzibar" and "forming of Outer Heaven" that is referenced quite a bit.

MGS 1(originally #3) is the beginning of snake coming back out of retirement, and kind of atoning for past bad deeds (which is continued into MGS 2)

MGS 3 is the story of what drove Big Boss to turn against his own government, and become a terrorist (essentially)

Get a playstation 2 emulator for PC called PCSX2 it's on pcsx2(punkt)net. You can play PS2 games with it. You can just DL the games or run them in your DVD drive.

IF you want to use the emulator you'll need a PS2 bios and memory card plugins for it to work. You can find them with google.
