YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

My theory is this,and there is some generalization in it, because the public generalizes. The most "famous" gay YT males are very flamboyant, energetic, funny, and radical in their presentation. Lesbians, (generalization), are often concerned with more serious issues.Best known lesbian on YT(Nutcheese) is not as serious. PERSONALLY, I would rather listen to you, Gina, Steph, and Syd....any day of the week. And I don't enjoy Nutcheese, at all. So...you know, opinions and preferences and all. :)

Ratings are fairly important, and I love comments even more. Proactively Commenting on someones video is a great way to build community. Whats even cooler than that tho? When the videomaker replys back to people in comment. I see answering, and particularly Thanking someone for their time and consideration to comment, a way to be a grateful youtuber. We have all seen comments that were anything but uplifting (lol) , so I try hard to support and encourage with mine. Nice dialog in your vid. :-)

I like them, but I don't have to have them. If it's a subject that comments are needed for conversation, such as this video, that is different.

I have had people subscribed to me for years that have never left a comment.

Also, sometimes I will find a comment that someone left me on a video from months ago that I never saw, it's kind of like finding a $20 in my old coat pocket!!

Lets see, are comments and ratings important to me? I just would like to say, if a vid gets like 200 views, and only 20 comments that can be a let down. Then again just knowing your vids are being watched causes you to put up another vid.

So I feel its a catch 22. Your damned if you do and your damed if you don't

i totally had the same experience when searching the word "lesbian" here on youtube. I find it's easier to find lesbians using other search terms like queer, dyke, butch - words that the heterosexual male does not use when looking for porn material. i think you have a point with how we divide up into groups as well. it's not just age that divides us but also our attitudes toward gender, labels and feminism - and i think those things vary generationally too.

In answer to your question about ratings vs. comments, I value the comments - in fact that's the reason I put the videos up. To have a conversation, express my views, hear other people's views. Ratings aren't that important. I'm not sure they mean anything - people who like you are likely to 5* everything. I'm more interested in other peoples thoughts and opinions than their approval.

Why not generate your own tag for searching against so that you can find women who are actually gay, as opposed to the male fantasy girl on girl action that most searches for "lesbian" are likely to throw up?

Of course everyone wants to have people comment I guess, but to me it isnt that big of a deal for the most part. I make the videos I do to inform my subscribers and friends of whatever it is that I am talking about in our life. I dont view comments and ratings as social acceptance or anything of the llike. I do appreciate it when people take the time out of their life to share with me. That part makes me feel fantastic. HUGS xoxoxo

What to High Subscriber numbers mean to you Gals? Celebrity ? Making a Living? Being Heard? The Gay Men were online first and their is a large amount of people that look at their sites for sexual reasons, it is just the way it is. I think that the Lesbians are still on their way here, and that we don't need gay men to link to us to give us more number. The natural numbers will be here soon in all the glory and drama that being a lesbian is about, just my opinion, everyone has one.
