You don't know what this song is about otherwise you wouldn't have played it this way. Please to be removing it from your bag of songs and stick to whatever it is you know.
I'll tell you I like your version but the bass player needs to turn his bass down and stop addin in all those fancy runs lol just play it normally your taking away from the mandolin and the slide and her beautiful vocals. other than that great job
Very nice feeling to this whole performance. Just had to find other covers of this night after posting mine. Thank you for sharing this nice gem. Beautiful lead voice and harmonies!!!! Loved the lead acoustic guitar as well. Mark
NV! i enjoyed the performance very much, as a bluegrass fan and mandolin "try-to" player i had to add y'all to my favs list so i can jam with you...lol...... oh yeah, and the South never quit fighting, we just took a break to reload, ((*_~))
Old habits are hard to break, but, the gal needs to actually use her pinky on many of the chords. On a small fret board, once you start, it works out better & cleaner than that 3rd finger. Bad handmanship leads to joint isues later on in life. I've eeked out way more years by using good handsmanship and manicuring those nails way down than I could have otherwise, and that's playing tough pieces in all kinds of weather. The singing & overall combo is pretty good. The lead guitarist is righteous!
thanks for the comments, and yes i heard joan baez sing this song first so yeah...also if the words are fubbed, it's probably because i can never remember anything quite correctly. plus if we were to cover the song exactly, what fun would that make it? but thanks for watching and leaving comments! and for all who left positive comments about my voice and such, much thanks to that as well!
You did good!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joan flubbed more than you did. You made it fun again. And I thank you for that! Send us some more. Looking forward to it...
Well done, I mean it's ok to fub the lyrics because this is one of those songs that really does have two set's of lyrics depending on who's version you listened to first.
perfect pitch by Megan! The Band is mostly Canadian, Robby is from Canada (& part Indian), the singer from Arkansas. i like the Johnny Cash version also, nice vid.
Dont put the video out there if you dont like criticism, and if youre going to tell me to piss off at least reply to me so I dont have to stumble on it 4 months later.
The vocals sound great, the musicanship is there.... but the song sounds too rushed. Part of the charm of the original is the slow, angusihed buildup. It suggests suffering, melancholy. Speeding the song up makes it sound overworked or "overfolked" and gives it an unneccesary tinge of giddiness. Listen to the lyrics, they are heartbreaking....
Yeah the girl in this band has a very nice voice and yeah, she must have learned the song by listening to Joan. I think Joan must have just made up her own words for the ones she couldn't figure out when she transcribed this song from listening to "The Band's" original version.
Nice girl witha great voice.

They are to herky jerky or something and to make it sound southern they need to add a banjo ,and a violin .They seem out of tune too, real bad.

learn the words and credit The Band properly when introducing yourself. Some nice solos in there.

One note: the line isn't "so much cavalry", it's "Stoneman's cavalry", referring to Union general Stoneman.

I fail to see your point... considering it was written by Canadians.

And its sad that it took a Canadian band to see it. I believe the drummer was from the south.

Actually, we do know who wrote the song, so piss off.
And piss off, as well, about the backup singers. We're not trying to become famous, just have some fun.
Thanks for the positive feedback, DC. The lyrics are tragic and need to be sung in more such a manner. I'll remember that in the future.
