I stuck with Firefox and always will if my computer has less then 2GB of Mem, once I upgrade I headed straight for Chrome. Only reason I did that is at my friends I saw that chrome made so many different processes in the task manager so I was afraid it would be a mem sucker

Reason why stick with Chrome is BECAUSE it makes different processes for everything it does, it makes everything fast and doesn't start freezing during scripts like Firefox does occasionally. Since I did upgrade my computer from 2GBs of memory or 4GBs of memory, I have enough free memory to run Chrome and League of Legends with out most of it going to my SWAP Memory

I used to love Chrome because it was faster than IE8 until IE9 Beta came out, I used to love Opera's Turbo and Link features until it started going slow for no reason what-so-ever. I used to love Firefox because of it's personas, themes and extensions. I'm not exactly defending IE at all, more like explaining that something newer is better than something older...

-IE8 doesn't use GPU

-IE8 and below I really hated too, but I'm going to be honest here, I used them before and they were alright but aren't for comparing with later different browsers (It's like comparing PS2 and PS3 and saying PS2 came out the same time PS3 did).

-When IE8 was made HTML5 didn't exist

-IE9+ has a better UI and is a lot different than IE8

-IE10 not finished yet, it will change

@Mdschannel Usually a popup message appears saying a bunch of 0's and 1's have crashed. you have to kill it. Then when I do flash crashes. It happens all the time and the only reason I use Chrome is because Firefox refuses to respond.

@iEtc2020 OK, if you can, google the specific code of 0's and 1's of the error message, just search "google chrome [error code her]" and see if you get some results. Also, try scanning for viruses and disc errors. It sounds strange that Chrome is bugged and Firefox not responding at all. Whilst firefox is far from the stablest of browsers it usually works. Also, try disabling extentions/addons and clear content data in the "under the hood" option tab. Sync/backup passwords and stuff.

Most fair tests i suppose... Although most of the IE9 addons are most likely still enabled looking at that chart - it's so much higher and faster on mine. Try going though the "Add-ons installed without permission" bit and disable them all except Adobe Flash player

@Mr7Beans Why don't you try using MemoryFox on Firefox...? It greatly reduces memory consumption. Having AdBlock Plus and NoScript also greatly makes your browser faster and more secure by blocking unwanted ads and scripts. Just my two cents...

Firefox 8 is out now, but I really can't wait to see the results for the upcoming Firefox 9. In Firefox 9, they've increased JavaScript performance by 20-30%

And yeah, I use both browsers (FF & Chrome) for different things, but FF is my main browser cause Chrome is a huge memory whore. I rarely have less than 100 tabs open, and doing that in Chrome takes up way too much memory (not to mention I can't see what the tabs are. FF Tab Mix Plus addon is awesome. Can't do that with Chrome.)

Chrome uses more memory, because it separates all the tabs, so that if one crashes, you don't lose everything...

But once you close a Chrome tab, that memory is instantly available.

In other browsers, if you open lots of tabs and then close them, they can still be using more memory than Chrome ~

@elnegrobembon Chrome does use a lot of memory because it's a multi-process browser. Every tab and plugin is its own process. When Chrome has a lot of tabs open, it consolidates by every domain being its own process.

This does have huge stability and security advantages though, and it means Chrome doesn't "leak" memory like Firefox does, since closing a tab kills the process and frees all allocated memory.

Mozilla has committed to going multi-process in a later version.

I dont know whats up with my Chrome browser but my ad and pop-up blockers arent working and when i tried to load websites like Technobuffalo and Engadget, it literally takes 2-3 minutes to fully load and the rest of the tabs are unusable. This happens on my 1ghz dual-core, with 2gb of RAM laptop and my 3.6ghz quad-core with 6gb RAM Desktop. So ive been using Firefox lately and everything runs fine. Just wondering if this is happening to anyone else??
