I remember I had a dog, god rest her soul, that was smarter than any other dog. She wouldn't fetch, and she loved Sanford and Son, even whining at the commercials. Or one that would watch you throw the frisbee and tell YOU to go jump in the lake? My dog told anyone who tried to make her fetch to go jump in the lake.
I dont think you fully answered Sarahs question. I have a collie/lab that would rather pay attention to the environment… sniff the ground, listen to silence, over fetch. I think Saras dog is manifesting the same instincts of herding because that’s available but take that distraction away and the dog will find another. How would you show youre ADHD Collie that playing fetch (because it burns more energy) is more fun than being the “sleuth” or “guardian” that I’m sure my dog sees herself as.

I Tryed doing when she is by her Self At Home She Will Not Run after it at all she show No interested In Anything I throw . All My Dog's all play fetch But she just want do it at all she a very smart dog . But the question is How can I get Her to play fetch ?
Zak, The vids are much appreciated. I have a Blue Heeler with the opposite temperament. He'll do anything for affection. He'll be active when driven. We walk 2x/day @ > 1hr/day (dig the shorthand? :] ). My issue is getting him interested. I've done what you did in your videos but he'd rather knock the ball out and get hand good petting instead. We rescued him almost a month ago, but I wouldn't think time would factor into playing.
its the same issue with trying to teach my shih tzu puppy the basic "commands" with having my 4 yr old son around, he gets far to distracted and just wants to play with my son lol so i have to seperate them

@moonthelost--it's not that he doesn't have any interest in playing fetch at all he loves the ball and loves to play fetch...it's just he loves to herd my other dog more...his herding nip is turning into an aggressive bite slowly over time...
Hi Zak missed watching the dog answering questions yes get back into the groove loved your answer,it is hot and humid here in lower Delaware 96 today and have an air warning and heat index hazzard warning in effect. I say early frisbee workout or just before dark tonight for my BC and as well for the beagle for her ground sniffing snorting walk around the property. take care and try to stay cool and hydrated.
