I am considering ordering a HK500CMT as a step up from my T-Rex 450 Pro. I have heard good and bad things about the HK's. What do you guys reckon about them? Are they OK. The one in the vid certainly looks smooth through the air....
@Revorob Well I absolutely love mine. It can turn out to be real good. I need to take another vid of what it looks like now. I have Align main shaft , main gears, and i converted to belt drive with align parts since i crashed it after loosing the tail due to servo. The video above is all stock though so that is some proof that they can fly decent out of the box. Just make sure to check the parts carefully and locktite your metal to metal screws.
Thanks for the reply. I've been told the boom is too long, on the belt drive, by about 2mm, guess we'll see. Any idea why you lost tail control? its been said the HK tail gears strip pretty easy, maybe you lost a tooth in flight? I've also been told the screws are easily stripped out. I went ahead and ordered a screw kit From Align as well $6. why not? I hope to start the build next weekend, see how it goes.
@Blaydrnnnr Im not sure about the boom size, I now have an align boom on mine. the analog servo I had on there burnt out, (ordered wrong one) the gears stripped when it hit the ground. I haven't had any problems with the screws and i've been making sure nothing is loose after my flights on the parts that i didnt put locktite on.
Nice flight! I just got my 500CMT ( belt driven) delivered today. Havent started building yet. Did you swap the gears for Align? I ordered Align Main and auto gears for it. I got the 1800Kv Typhoon motor, so still deciding on the pinion to use with 3000mAh 5s batts. Which pinion are you using..the stock 13T? Great flying... hope you put up more vids, and let us know what you had to deal with in the build.
@Blaydrnnnr I had a mild crash after loosing tail control I hit throttle hold and broke a skid and the torque tube stripped my main gear so since I was ordering parts, I ordered main gear and auto rotation bearing, and all the parts to convert to belt drive and an align ds520 tail servo. It is flying great again. Building was great and I didnt encounter any problems at all. I just broke my canopy while removing it so i will order that too. I am using 13t pinion. Thanks for the comment!
What is it powered by ? What is the range in flight before it powers off ?

Hi,
I had also the Turnigy 85A esc but dis my 500CMT belt crashed last week due BEC failure. Don't know why but it stopped mid flight and crashed hard.
I ordered a TT now and also have a spare 85 ESC and I still think to use it.
Hope It was an incident.
