It's the shape of the car that makes it do that. That purposly made it do that because of the air ressistance is a lot less on the box shape which saves gas.

I don't like the sanded edges. I liked the radical boxy edges on the original. It looked like nothing else, which was the whole point of the thing. Why make it look like other cars? Then it has no reason to exist.

I agree. My father has a 2006 XB. I test drove a 2009 Xb 2 days ago. The 2009 is a piece of shit. It is bigger, heavier, and gets far worse gas mileage. Basically the new one looks like everything else on the road. Scion fucked up getting rid of the original XB after only 3 years. I am now looking for a used 2006 XB. The nissan cube is coming out in a few months to make up where scion/toyota fucked up.
i got mine last year when i was 17...had it for a year and still love it! Get the extended warranty cuz it's only like 900 bucks added on and it's for 6yrs or 100k i think. IDK! lol, i already fixed my a.c, pretty sure it's an isolated thing cuz i havn't heard other xb owners complain. BUT! i went from a suburban to this. I miss being able to pull all the way up to a curb when i park without hitting the bumper, other than that i wouldn't choose another car out there for under $30K. GET IT! lol
I have an '06. I love it. The new one is not as distinctive looking. It may have a bigger engine (which is good), but after market products solve that problem. No go on this one Scion, I'll keep my 'tricked out '06.
the supercharger is out for the manual now...but the automatic still has a while to go. Of course if you hav an automatic you likely aren't the type to add a supercharger. lol
Canadians are pretty cool. They don't bother anybody and I like that. Anyways this car is nice. I saw one near my house and I can honestly say that it stands out from the crowd. Across the street I saw a a PT Cruiser, another car that caught my attention. These cars are unique in appearance and that's why I like them.

The original XB's still make me laugh, but Scion did an AMAZING job w/ the redesign. I bought a silver 2008 model (w/ a dual-pane sunroof) and it's PERFECT.
It's about 18"x30".. dual pane (cuts down on wind noise w/ the way the panels tilt), and it has 3 different settings. I had originally wanted a very large sunroof (about double the length), but found that no one really wanted to install it... thought it would compromise the stability of the body. But actually, I'm really happy w/ the result. Hope that helps!
hell no, you better get one from the states, then drive it to Canada or have it deliver to Canada, but tax's and fees are not cheap, and all the paper work you have to go through from the customs, I hate the american customs, they give you hard times driving across the border and now they only allow americans to purchase cars in the states, canadians can only purchase used cars from the States. I've had mine for about 6 months and I still LOVE IT!!! It is such a joy to drive and it honestly does turn heads. Granted, many of those heads belong to the elderly. LOL! I don't care! It was so cheap and gas is great compared to my suburban! I love it and don't regret a thing!

I gotta disagree, this car looks 100% better than the old one; it was WAY too boxy, they needed to soften up the corners a bit; but I don't understand that goofy left side reverse light; the tail end would look a lot cleaner if that light didn't just pop out at you like it does.

The new xB is a regression. It is bigger on the outside, yet smaller on the inside. Vehicles improve by doing the reverse. It actually has less floor to ceiling room than the old one. It also lost its distintive look. It also gets less mileage. They took all the great selling features of the original xB; distintive shape, large cargo room, short length, greate mileage, and watered them down. Crossover disease.
Part of that reason is the fact that the EPA revised their fuel economy testing, so most, if not all vehicles have lower mileage compared to the previous model year.
Even considering that, the new model weighs 900 lbs more, a huge amount for a previously light vehicle, and of course it now has an engine that is 60% larger, producing more power and more torque. So it must consume more fuel, and this is indeed reflected in the gas consumption figures. Since gas has not gone down in price, and interior volume has not increased, this reflects an increase in operating costs that was a completely unnecessary development.

Ahhhh, My First Gen Box is pretty awesome with 30-33MPG and tons of room. The stock Pioneer system is decent and I love the port for the direct iPod connection and the fact that it's SAT ready! It handles good and I love the over all 'boxy' look. These cars look great upgraded and tricked out You really can have some fun with it!
Whatever no thanks on the 2nd Gen..I'm really pleased with my '06!
The new xB has less interior space than it's '06 model. 4" less headroom & less legroom for the rear seat. A 6"7' guy can sit comfortably in the back seat of my '06 with my driver seat completely back. Traction control, front disk brakes & the Pioneer system were all standard on the '06. What's new is the Camry engine that boasts of 22mpg (my 06 gets an actual 30mpg/city) and the addition of a whopping 650lbs. The only improvement is the side curtain airbags.
The new Scion has more bang for your buck when compared to any Toyota out there. It has standard disc brakes, traction control, side curtain airbags , sway bar, and Pioneer Sound system, a Camry engine and Dual OverHead cams VVTi. The only comprable priced Toyotas are the base Corolla CE or a fully loaded Yaris. The 08 XB has 1/3 of an inch less head/leg room as an Escalade in the fron seat and actually exceeds the head/leg room of an Escalade in the rear seat.
The new xb weighs nearly 650lbs more than the original xB. (Way to go Toyota!!) The larger engine and weight takes a hit on the mileage of this new xB by more than 7 mpg. Sadly, the new xB is chockful of cheaper-made materials in both the interior and exterior (including a retro lame solid-axle rear suspension setup). The new Scion xB is now just a stripped-down Corolla in a different shape. No more a Scion than the Yaris is.

i got mine last year when i was 17...had it for a year and still love it! Get the extended warranty cuz it's only like 900 bucks added on and it's for 6yrs or 100k i think. IDK! lol, i already fixed my a.c, pretty sure it's an isolated thing cuz i havn't heard other xb owners complain. BUT! i went from a suburban to this. I miss being able to pull all the way up to a curb when i park without hitting the bumper, other than that i wouldn't choose another car out there for under $30K. GET IT! lol

I have an '06. I love it. The new one is not as distinctive looking. It may have a bigger engine (which is good), but after market products solve that problem. No go on this one Scion, I'll keep my 'tricked out '06.

the supercharger is out for the manual now...but the automatic still has a while to go. Of course if you hav an automatic you likely aren't the type to add a supercharger. lol

Canadians are pretty cool. They don't bother anybody and I like that. Anyways this car is nice. I saw one near my house and I can honestly say that it stands out from the crowd. Across the street I saw a a PT Cruiser, another car that caught my attention. These cars are unique in appearance and that's why I like them.

It's about 18"x30".. dual pane (cuts down on wind noise w/ the way the panels tilt), and it has 3 different settings. I had originally wanted a very large sunroof (about double the length), but found that no one really wanted to install it... thought it would compromise the stability of the body. But actually, I'm really happy w/ the result. Hope that helps!

hell no, you better get one from the states, then drive it to Canada or have it deliver to Canada, but tax's and fees are not cheap, and all the paper work you have to go through from the customs, I hate the american customs, they give you hard times driving across the border and now they only allow americans to purchase cars in the states, canadians can only purchase used cars from the States. So if you really want one, seek help from a american friend of yours.

The 90-95 MR2 is a great car. I got a '93 2.0 turbo 3sgte black on black 105k miles. Drives like an absolute dream. Jap piece of shit? I think not.

I've had mine for about 6 months and I still LOVE IT!!! It is such a joy to drive and it honestly does turn heads. Granted, many of those heads belong to the elderly. LOL! I don't care! It was so cheap and gas is great compared to my suburban! I love it and don't regret a thing!

The old one had more height, better look, better fuel economy. Why in this day and age, would any manufacturer REDUCE the fuel economy of a well selling car?

I gotta disagree, this car looks 100% better than the old one; it was WAY too boxy, they needed to soften up the corners a bit; but I don't understand that goofy left side reverse light; the tail end would look a lot cleaner if that light didn't just pop out at you like it does.

The new xB is a regression. It is bigger on the outside, yet smaller on the inside. Vehicles improve by doing the reverse. It actually has less floor to ceiling room than the old one. It also lost its distintive look. It also gets less mileage. They took all the great selling features of the original xB; distintive shape, large cargo room, short length, greate mileage, and watered them down. Crossover disease.

Part of that reason is the fact that the EPA revised their fuel economy testing, so most, if not all vehicles have lower mileage compared to the previous model year.

Even considering that, the new model weighs 900 lbs more, a huge amount for a previously light vehicle, and of course it now has an engine that is 60% larger, producing more power and more torque. So it must consume more fuel, and this is indeed reflected in the gas consumption figures. Since gas has not gone down in price, and interior volume has not increased, this reflects an increase in operating costs that was a completely unnecessary development.

first its faster, better looking inside and outside, tiptironic also. trust me i use to sell the old scions and i hated the xb, but im am now a believer of the new scion xb. (way better in my opinion)

Ahhhh, My First Gen Box is pretty awesome with 30-33MPG and tons of room. The stock Pioneer system is decent and I love the port for the direct iPod connection and the fact that it's SAT ready! It handles good and I love the over all 'boxy' look. These cars look great upgraded and tricked out You really can have some fun with it!
Whatever no thanks on the 2nd Gen..I'm really pleased with my '06!

The new xB has less interior space than it's '06 model. 4" less headroom & less legroom for the rear seat. A 6"7' guy can sit comfortably in the back seat of my '06 with my driver seat completely back. Traction control, front disk brakes & the Pioneer system were all standard on the '06. What's new is the Camry engine that boasts of 22mpg (my 06 gets an actual 30mpg/city) and the addition of a whopping 650lbs. The only improvement is the side curtain airbags.

The new Scion has more bang for your buck when compared to any Toyota out there. It has standard disc brakes, traction control, side curtain airbags , sway bar, and Pioneer Sound system, a Camry engine and Dual OverHead cams VVTi. The only comprable priced Toyotas are the base Corolla CE or a fully loaded Yaris. The 08 XB has 1/3 of an inch less head/leg room as an Escalade in the fron seat and actually exceeds the head/leg room of an Escalade in the rear seat.

The new xb weighs nearly 650lbs more than the original xB. (Way to go Toyota!!) The larger engine and weight takes a hit on the mileage of this new xB by more than 7 mpg. Sadly, the new xB is chockful of cheaper-made materials in both the interior and exterior (including a retro lame solid-axle rear suspension setup). The new Scion xB is now just a stripped-down Corolla in a different shape. No more a Scion than the Yaris is.
