De Amerikaanse blueszangeres Marva Wright is dinsdag 23/03/2010 in New Orleans overleden. De vrouw bezweek aan de complicaties van een beroerte die ze vorig jaar opliep. Ze werd 62 jaar oud.
Wright zong niet alleen blues maar ook jazz en gospel. Eén van haar meest bekende nummers is 'Heartbreakin' woman'.
De vrouw was al 40 jaar toen ze besloot om zich toe te leggen op haar zangcarrière.
Marva recently had a stroke. I hope she recovers and can get back to being the real Blues Queen of New Orleans...of my 15 years that I lived in the Big Easy, Marva is my favorite singer.
Seeing Marva at the Jazz Parlor in New Orleans was some of the warmest memories I have from that town. She is a true entertainer---just magic. We would watch her for hours each night and never tire. Marva really is the blues queen of New Orleans and a true lady.

I just saw Marva yesterday at the Crescent City Blues Fest in New Orleans. She was killer!! I guess after the flood she's been living in Baltimore.

We watched Marva in New Orleans night after night.
Want her for my film. Antonio Banderas sat in there
one night and cast her in Crazy In Alabama.
