I always find it so very interesting that when a political point or a social point needs to be addressed black people seem to always be at the end of the equation when in reality they should really not be since they are classified as the race that is at the end of food chain according to some. I am a first generation Asian (Korean) in this country. I have successfully graduated from college, served the Army as a Sergeant in Iraq and now have a very good paying job. I'm still trying to figure out why some people that have been here for generations upon generatons, still cannot stop these self-inflicted failures. I guess when people always want to blame others for poor decisions, they'll never admit that they're the ones ruining their own lives.
Well im not black. However this all started with Regan and the Welfare Queen speech. It was then and still assumed all black and minorities are on welfare. I agree there is a problem. However the focus should be on creating jobs, Possibly increasing min hourly pay rate and maybe cutting down the 40 hour week to a more manageable 32 hour. This will get more people motivated to work and get off assistance. Also better birth control for young teens/adults should be in place.

Thus, whites receive it 92% as much as is equal to their percent of the population, while blacks receive 310% of what would be appropriate for their percent of the population. So, blacks are 3.4 times as likely to be on food stamps in Iowa (if this guys stats of 84% and 9% are correct, I did not check them myself). If someone is twice as likely, that's bad, but 3.4!!! times?

TYT is being deceptive. The fact of the matter is that Iowa is only 3% black but 9% of its food stamp users are black. That is not very good. Nationally blacks are only 12% of the population but make up around 33% of all welfare users. And moreover anyone who has seen modern black culture knows that too many black people have embraced violence and ignorance so this is not surprising. Cities (like Detroit) become ruins when blacks move in. Blacks need to turn their backs on hip hop culture.

@MitchofSmeg For far too long. Fortunately progressed to full time employment but haven't forgotten welfare provides a means to get by but that's it (if you successfully apply). To ascend socio-economically you have to haul ass something chronic. I worked up to 3 jobs simultaneously while studying full time just to make it to the bottom rung of middle class after coming up in an impoverished area/fam. To give my kids a better chance I'll need to keep pressing just to afford to get them educated.
@horusofoz I am 21, i have had 1 job which was employment for 8 months, theres so little work where i am that at the jobcentre (where they mass all the jobs they can find in the country) they didnt have a single job mentioned within 40 miles of me lol, its pretty rough, and the only way i can get a job is to move, but i dont have the money to move sadly :< (or ofc, join the army but thats had thousands of jobs ended so its hard to do that aswell which used to be a pathway)

Eventually got response for interview n spent every second preparn 2 ensure I smashed it. Just do what u can to find opportunities n Don't stop lookn. Mine was in an industry I didn't c myself in but the pay got me by (with some part time bartending/farm work/labor/IT) until I finished studying and moved into my preferred area.

I am a first generation Asian (Korean) in this country. I have successfully graduated from college, served the Army as a Sergeant in Iraq and now have a very good paying job. I'm still trying to figure out why some people that have been here for generations upon generatons, still cannot stop these self-inflicted failures. Well im not black. However this all started with Regan and the Welfare Queen speech. It was then and still assumed all black and minorities are on welfare. I agree there is a problem. However the focus should be on creating jobs, Possibly increasing min hourly pay rate and maybe cutting down the 40 hour week to a more manageable 32 hour. This will get more people motivated to work and get off assistance. Also better birth control for young teens/adults should be in place.

Thus, whites receive it 92% as much as is equal to their percent of the population, while blacks receive 310% of what would be appropriate for their percent of the population. So, blacks are 3.4 times as likely to be on food stamps in Iowa (if this guys stats of 84% and 9% are correct, I did not check them myself). Unless the meaning of "Temporary" in Temporary Aid to Needy Families (TANF) has changed, I find it hard to believe that there are thousands of people getting welfare for their entire lives (unless one is disabled in which one would be on SSDI which is separate from welfare and the tax system and is like any other insurance program.)

TYT is being deceptive. The fact of the matter is that Iowa is only 3% black but 9% of its food stamp users are black. That is not very good. Nationally blacks are only 12% of the population but make up around 33% of all welfare users. And moreover anyone who has seen modern black culture knows that too many black people have embraced violence and ignorance so this is not surprising. Cities (like Detroit) become ruins when blacks move in. Blacks need to turn their backs on hip hop culture.

MY POINT WAS: The media and politicians, whether they are liberal (Young Turks) or conservative (Santorum/ Fox News), use statistics like the Turks did in this video all the time because they think you are stupid. Their statistic is just as arbitrary and useless as mine was when in reference to a state that is over 90% white.
Nowadays, it's the "haves" vs. the "have nots" and the haves distract the have nots with arguments that pit the have nots against themselves. In this example, it's race.

@MitchofSmeg For far too long. Fortunately progressed to full time employment but haven't forgotten welfare provides a means to get by but that's it (if you successfully apply). To ascend socio-economically you have to haul ass something chronic. I worked up to 3 jobs simultaneously while studying full time just to make it to the bottom rung of middle class after coming up in an impoverished area/fam. To give my kids a better chance I'll need to keep pressing just to afford to get them educated.

@horusofoz I am 21, i have had 1 job which was employment for 8 months, theres so little work where i am that at the jobcentre (where they mass all the jobs they can find in the country) they didnt have a single job mentioned within 40 miles of me lol, its pretty rough, and the only way i can get a job is to move, but i dont have the money to move sadly :< (or ofc, join the army but thats had thousands of jobs ended so its hard to do that aswell which used to be a pathway)

@MitchofSmeg I hear ya. I'm 25. At ur age I contacted fam I was barely aware of in my states capital to couch crash, left country town, applied for 50+ jobs and army. Eventually got response for interview n spent every second preparn 2 ensure I smashed it. Just do what u can to find opportunities n Don't stop lookn. Mine was in an industry I didn't c myself in but the pay got me by (with some part time bartending/farm work/labor/IT) until I finished studying and moved into my preferred area.

Haul ass man and f* what people around u say when they want u to go out when u need to work or study. It's worth it when after a couple years u can earn in a week what u used to in a month. To be honest, Iowa is 93% white, so I don't think we can ever view anything that happens there as an accurate cross-cut of America. However, given the above statistic, the math you are spitting out in this video to blast Santorum actually goes to prove Santorum's racist point. Specifically, when you say "84% of Iowa's welfare recipients are white," you are also saying by default that blacks, while only making up 7% of Iowa's population, are taking 16% of the state's welfare resources.

Wouldn't it be more efficient from a governmental standpoint to address the people using up 84% of the resource and tell them to find a job? Again, no one asked him anything about black people.
