@spartanprepper The water is stained from the cedar swamp. It has tannins in the water from cedar trees that actually help the water stay fresh longer than regular water and it minimizes the chance of being tainted with harmful micro-organisms. I still recommend boiling the water or purification tabs however, I have drank this water fresh out plenty of times with no ill effects.
@urkingod Hmmm? Polar Pure? What? I don't know but, I like to check out anything that has a grabby label before I buy it. Polar, what does that mean? Did it come from the Polar Cap? Does it make water like "Polar Water"?
Anyway, I like simple, down to earth . . . at least try to be honest advertising if I'm going to buy.
Thank you. This is excellent information to use for a 72 hour emergency kit. You demonstrated and explained very well the process to purify the water with the tablets. Great video!
Thanks, I'm hoping that some of my vids are useful. Sometimes the simple things are over looked or forgotten. It helps me to practice things that I don't do often, just so I keep in mind the details of how to do things quickly and properly.
Those tabs are great. I like them. They dont eem to leave to much taste behind. Like you said boiling is the best though. The only thing I dont like is that once you open them they dont last more than a year or two. But they are all I carry. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks, I like the fact that they take up very little space. If you are on the move you can drop two tablets in a canteen and thirty minutes later you can safely drink with out stoping to make a fire and boil.
Thanks for your in put, I always like to here from others so I can refine my understanding and learn new things.
Thanks, believe it or not, cedar water was preffered by early explorers who needed to travel by ship because the water stayed fresh longer during the trip. Evidently the cedar has protective properties in water like a cedar chest against insects.
great vid, and explanation

I prefer the boiling method, sometimes I will strain my water through Spagnum Moss, before boiling. Only if it's available.

they are good for emergencys where fire or a stove isnt avail, but 30+ min? i'll just boil it on my penny stove in 5 min.

I agree, these are not practical in most situations. For when you can not use fire or you must fill the canteen and keep moving, it may be useful.
I personally prefer boiling.
