its a glitch. if a fast character runs across seal's neck they sometimes fall through. most people have died to this before and so youll see almost everyone jump from head to body instead of running across.

It's called a foxhole, because it mostly happens to fox on pokefloats. any character can just randomly fall through parts of stages. it's random.
