  • @heydiahrea Hedgehogs are Illegal in California, Hawaii, Maine, and two other places I just don't remeber where.

  • are hedgehogs legal in california ive never seen one

  • Hedgehogs are cool. When I was living in Germany you would find them walking around at night all the time. Big ones too. It looks like this one still has some growing to do.

  • That's what my hedgehog did when my ferrett met him. lol

  • ferret would probably try to eat a hedgehog in nature.

I wonder if they have the patience to tire it out so they can bite the belly

I guess a ferret would quickly understand it is easier to hunt for something different rather than waste energy on this weird prey

  • is it just me or does it sound like the hedchog is starting an engine haha

  • do hedgehogs and ferrets get along well?

  • Ahhhhh quick Question were di u get the hedgehog?????

  • You're hedgie is adorable <333333 that's what they do. I love hedgies. The only thing I hate is they have a lot of health problems as they age and it's hard to see them sick :(

  • that hedgehog almost took a shit when he saw the ferret

  • the hedgehog is perfectly protect, otherwise it would be the perfect meal for the ferret

  • ferret: Ooo... dinner!!!

Hedgehog: Don't eat me I hide my face and underbelly under my spikes.

ferret: I dig to get to your soft juicy belly under your spikes... stupid carpet

any intelligent person would not put a prey animal together with one of it's natural predators...

  • Ferret:Hi

Hedgehog:Who are you leave me alone

Ferret:I just want to say hi

    Hedgehog:Still you scare me

  • Ah that hedgehog IS NOT happy

  • nice boobs

  • I think the hedgehog instinctively knew it was in for trouble.

  • My brother tried the same thing with his hedgehog and her girl friend's ferret.

The ferret was so curious but couldn't do anything to the spiky hedgehog only became a red nose.

  • hey ferret.

    look, it's Sonic!

  • The Ferret is thinking "wow you bought a brush that moves."

  • That ferret will kill the hedgehog. good luck .... if it is still alive today

  • does your hedgehog hurts you with their spikes?

  • @Billy1RBstudios No, when my hedgehog spikes me it feels so good I let him spike me in the face, mate!

  • is hedgehog spines harmless??

  • @felixjetgo No, when my hedgehog spikes me it feels so good I let him spike me in the face, mate! Spikes are so cudly!

  • Ferret: "Sup man?"

Hedgehog:" Don't TOUCH me! Can you not feel my ANGUISH?!!!!"

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • yeah odds are your hedgehog took one look at the ferret and in his head the warning lights were flashing "predator" so watch out.

  • We used to have hedgehogs aroud where i live (norway) but i rarly see one now.. Cars kill them off it seems. And i only see smal ones now. When i was about 10 we had a thogh bastard living in our garden. she was atleast 40cm long and used to steal dogfood from our neighbors dog. It would just go to the dog bowl and eat while the dog did its darnest to kill it , i could hear cruching noises and the dog bled from its mouth , but the hedgehog would just eat its fill and go.

  • shy ^^

  • The hedgehog is SO CUTE!!!

  • yea it is adorble ^^ sorry i love animals

  • I thought my ferrets might like my hedgehog, never before have they displayed any negative behaviour towards any animal, but they wanted to scrap at the hedgie. Get him out of a ball? Idk. I wnated them to get on, because if the hedgie was able to go in with them he would have more space, but they seemed really mean. anyone know why? did they want to eat him? :(

  • @robynjeema ferrets are natural predators and out in the wild a hedge hog would most likely be on the menu if the met up : /

  • lol the ferrets like o cmon im sorry! take me back! and the hedgehog like no!!!!!! i cant take you back! your dead to me now!!! lol

  • It's a good thing hedgehogs don't have detachable quills!

  • I don't what will happen with a ferret and hedgehog, but since ferrets are sexy beast you should probabaly watch them really good. I know they kill small animals but idk hedgehogs.

  • Cool!

  • be careful because ferrets can eat edgehog easily

  • lmfao i have a ferret they are vicous beasts

  • No they can't. Hedgehogs are left alone by most animals because oneprick in the nose sends them away.

  • I have both a Hedgehog and a Ferret..they are both really expensive but a woozle costs way more in the long run :) Hedgehogs also have very simlar teeth to Ferrets. So I don't think the Ferret would attack a Hedgie (not worth it for the Ferret).

  • be careful of tiks mate hedghogs are full of them

  • Can I have them both, please?

They're both illegal in California >:(

  • hahhahahaha, I heard that on the news. I'm sorry.

  • .......... u just know that ferrets are carnivores? if the hedgehog one minutes dont watch hisself good the fereet would totaly kill it! my ferret killed a huge RAT and the rat was fighting

u shouldnt let the POOR hedgehog meet his enemy. he knows the ferrt trys to eat him. and that scares the poor hedgehog out.

  • Hay what make better and cheaper pets? A heghog or a ferret?

  • ferrets cost alot

  • I think in most places, hedgehogs are less expensive than ferrets.

As for which would make the better pet, that's largely up to what you're looking for in a pet.

Hedghehogs are cleaner and less smelly than ferrets, but they're also more solitary and less social.

  • Well at my local pet store ferrets cost $110 and most Hedgehogs go for $200.

  • i mean what animal makes the better pet. BUt it doesnt matter because im getting an Argentine Black And White Tegu. Way better than both in my opinion. (Im a reptile person)

  • you shouldnt get a pet just becuase theyre cheap... people like you are the reasons there are animal shelters

  • Haha he was looking at it for like two seconds then got bored

  • i totally wish hedgies were more social =[ cute ferret =D

  • wont ferrets attack the hedgehog?

  • Your Hedgehog Dachshund & 2 Ferrets video is so lovely!

  • cute!! i have ferret !! this video makes me wanna buy a hedgehog :))

  • Polecats are mainly used for rabbiting. Sometimes ferrets ^^

I'm getting a lil' abino kit in 2 weeks ^^

  • it's forbidden to sell ferrets and hedgehogs in my country ) ' :

  • LOL Then leave your country.

  • I can't.... not till I'm 18...

  • GASP poor you! But ferret and hedgehog types ARE endangered, so I sorta see why...

  • Hm, I wonder how its like getting poked by his quils?

  • It feels like the brushes that have the black wiry things.

  • i want a hedgehog so bad!! they are so adorable! where did you find your hedgehog?

  • The elderly lady upstairs gave it to me.

  • i wish the elderly people next door to me would give me a hedgehog, but they don't even give out candy on Holloween :,(

  • I have two hedgehogs. They are soft toys.

  • what does this mean?

  • They don't seem to like each other much.

  • We have 'echidnas' in Australia..very similar to Hedgehogs.

  • hahah hedgehogs all the same

  • Quills *do* work! Good video! :-)

  • Hey its sonic

  • r hedgehogs good pets?

  • That depends on what you like in a pet. If you want a friendly animal you can pet and show affection to, get a dog. If you want a weird looking creature that hisses at you and is covered in spikes, hedgehogs are great.

  • so are triceratops but their poop is a real pain

  • @balletman LOL!

    are they actually that temperamental?

I heard you can pick them up and stuff, and they're just like spiky hamsters...

  • @balletman Derp?

The hell do you do to your hedgehog?

I own 3 and they love me.

  • @balletman hedgehogs don't necessarily have that temperment, it just depends on the way they were raised and the way they are treated. My friend has the sweetest hedgehog and it loves to be held and played with

  • @funnysmarty101 You have to consider the mess they make, as well. Most hedgehogs have tendencies to crap on their wheels, and their poop isn't pelleted poop like rabbit or chinchilla poop. It's a lot smellier.

  • oyez, just listen to that psychotic pissed off hedgehog noise.

  • The Hedgie obviously loves it you can tell by the way it's curled up and huffing.... You people don't deserve to have it, same goes for your other videos I don't see whats to exciting and fun about stressing out a hedgehog

  • Ok lil' Miss Tree hugger...you know best.....NOT

  • who buys ferrets? if you buy em in a pet shop thats ridiculous, in Ireland you just get them from breeders..theyre used for hunting! but make good pets if handled right

  • Hunting? I got my little boy [ferret] yesterday from a pet store. In Canada they're not used for hunting. I loveee my ferret.

  • Yeh hunting, rabbits down holes and stuff. that's what they're bred for over here. ye wouldn't buy em in a pet shop over here, that's for sure. :D

  • Oh, interesting, I didn't know that. Well, whatever, not like I'm planning on using my little boy for hunting purposes any time soon.

  • While they were originally bred for hunting, and are still used for that in many places, they are also great house pets. (Great as in never-a-dull-moment-AH!-Don't-touch-that!)

  • Yea no kidding. We had to like babyproof the house.

  • they are for hunting dump them in a hole the rabbits come rite out

  • I owned a ferret and I love hedgehogs.

  • That's what your mom says about you

  • One time I show my hedgehog to the two new guinea pigs. She was all defensive.

  • wow.

four stars for that shit? lol

  • Crazy, isn't it?

  • Ferret's like "FUCK THIS"!!!

  • hahahaha! I know! That's exactly what I heard in my head. lol

  • that little hedgie was hella pissed of

  • eh lol i feed my hedgehog ferret food and she is really healthy but chinchilla food is bad why do u think they call it chinchilla foods its specaily made for them but when i got my hedgehog from pet store they said ferret food lol

  • OMFG IT SONIC

    LEalize ferrets in ca

  • hehe i had the same problem with my cat, my hedgehog will hiss and ball up and all my cat will do is roll over and try to play its the cutest thing, if i had introduced em at an earlier age they could have been good friends, but i still love em both <3

  • cant the ferret injure you if you touch it like scratch you?

  • SOOO cute!!! I want one! go hedge hogs!

  • don't become like them. They have no sense. Never keep a hedgehog

  • WHAT HECK MAN!

  • ur a dumbass ppl keep em as pets

  • well they dont in england! Its considered cruel so there

  • yes they do jack ass

i got one and im frm uk

  • Oh bitch. I hope you suffer and you will and your dear hedgehog remember the rspca and the wild is allways out there for you. Live your life where you should hedgehog, free, in the wild, where you allways were till stupid dummb americans stole your lives so, don't worry hedgehogs, heaven and freedom is allways a choice run run run for to where you belonged so many years ago when the human race knew they standed together with you as equals i will wait for all those cruely kept in heaven! I will!

  • pygmy hedgehogs cant survive for long in the wild dumbass, they are near the bottom of the food chain, why not keep a hedge hog as a pet, they are really fun, everyone search uni on youtube, and go to the hedgehog one

yeah they are suffering aint they susafron.

  • ok i never knew hedgehogs were kept as pets as i do live in the country and i have never seen them as pets so it shocked me at first. Of course they would be pretty sweet pets as long as they are the right breed. What breed do people keep then huh? And can you get them form the UK?

  • yeah theres quite alot of breeders in the UK the main breed is the african pygmy hedgehog.

  • Ive never seen any :S My ma wouldnt let me what do u feed them?

  • Chinchilla food

  • Di... Are you serious? Where like to they live cage tank?

  • just in like an aquarium or a really big hamster cage

  • oh cool.. Have both for me ;)

  • an aquarium isnt really good for a hedgehog because it dosent offer good ventilation, in the winter you have to use a source of heat usually to keep the hedgehog warm but if its in an aquarium they can easily overheat and die

guinea (sp?) pig cages and rabbit cages, (like the big wire cages from pet store) are really the best

  • Hedgehogs are insectivores, chinchilla food doesn't work for them. They have specialty hedgehog food now, but when I used to breed them we fed them IAMS cat food, as hedgehog food never existed at that time.

  • do not feed it chinchilla food! dont listen to clitted! i high quality cat food mixed with hedgehog pellets. this is not a pet you can keep in your closet to hide from your mom. they need a lot of care and attention

  • the ones that are in the forest are wild.

that's an african pygmy hedgehog from a breeder.

  • dude! take a chill pill. i wasn't dissing just pointing out a fact. and i didn't minuse you down.

  • yeryerr kk

  • I love ferrets and hedgehogs :D

  • My two most favorite animals!!!!! Hedgies and ferrets rule!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i believe if a ferret had a chance, if a hedgehog would let its guard down, a ferret would kill a hedgehog.

  • Aww, hedgy doesn't want to play. xD

  • How Sweet

  • super , +5

  • F.Y.I. hedgehogs and ferrets can be potentially harmful to one another

  • Clearly the hedgehog is worried and the ferret's going to have a very sore mouth if it does what it's instincts tell it to do!

  • Ferret: What the heck is this?

Hedgehog: Your worst nightmare if you get your nose too close! *twitch*

Ferret: Ah, pointy! But I'm a ferret, I have to investigate! *sniff sniff*

    Hedgehog: Go away!

Ferret: Ah, you're no fun, bye.

  • i want my ferret to meat a porcupine..gimmie ...im gunna borrow yours

  • lol...looks like it would hurt to pick him up =p

  • how d u pick that up

  • LMAO when they curl up they look like a small grey spikey ROCK! :D

  • hedgehog:ok i'm ready to meet that ferret

    Hedgehog:omg i'm scared

    Ferret:it's o.k. i'm not hurting you

    Hedgehog:go away!!

  • aww that is almost identical to when we tried to introduce our ferret, aviendha to our two hogs, sonic and sonia. Except, my hogs make vibrating hissing noices when she tries to play with them.

  • ferrett no points, hedgehog loads of points.

  • You have NEVER seen them in a pet store?! You can find them in nearly every pet store in BC Canada, (right above DC)

  • Sorry about the hedgehog loss. How much are they usually in the US? I haven't seen them in any pet stores in Michigan but I have heard they make good pets and are similar in behavior to rabbits which I have had before.

  • I've never seen a hedgehog in a pet store either. One of my neighbors gave me this one. I don't know how much they cost.

I've had rabbits, and hedgehogs are very, very different.

  • as more research is done on hedgehogs, their behaviour and mental capabilities, especially being social creatures, are showing more closely related to cats. :) it's also an advantage that they can be litterbox trained and have amazing memory and affection for their owner(s)

  • I had a ferret hedgehog combo once too, and this is exactly what happened.

  • The ferret wouldnt eat the hedgehog especially with him puffing out his spikes. Theyre sorta like puffer fish they suck in air to make their quills stand up to scare off predaters.

  • IT,S SO CUTE

  • the noises the hedgehog makes is funny

  • yeah its defending its self its making the spikes on its back sharper

  • actually the spines don't get sharper, they just make them stand up

  • Some meeting...

  • In nature I bet the hedgehog is below the ferret on the food chain.Ferrets would have it for lunch normally shes just confused as to what it is.

  • Ferrets are smart enough to hunt for an easier prey than a hedgehog- if let loose, they hunt softer, less prickly, more defenseless animals such as small rodents and birds.

Shortly after being introduced, the ferrets gave up all hope of eating our spiny friend.

  • i love the hedg. it is soooo cute and the feret is too

  • It's not a European hedgehog.

  • Actually I take back that about this clip. This might be an european one.

  • Mucking about with a western european hedgehog however will get you in trouble one way or another.

They are not pets and are protected in many places. Also, you'll be unable to replicate it's natural environment, the animal will suffer, and you'll be prone to animal cruelty lawsuits.

Stay away from wild animals. Stick with the "domesticated" ones like in this clip.

  • That hedgehog is totally pissed he's like back off I'm ready to kill dude and the ferret's all twitchy and cautious. He's fast he just ducks back. Curious animals aren't they?

  • the hedge hog is tottaly saying "yo, piss off"

  • Can you have a hedgohog in house? as pet? wtf i didnt thought that was possibly.. or even legal :P oh well.. i enjoy the one in my garden more :)

  • It's legal in the USA. I'm not sure about the Netherlands. They run wild in Europe, but here they are almost exclusively pets.

  • cool

  • They are so cute! I got bitten by a wild one in the woods (hedgehog), ouch... when I was 7 years old. I wanted to touch his nose because it was really cute, lol! I still love them though! :)

  • You didnt read or chose to ignore certain facts from my 1st message. AFRICAN PYGMY hedgehogs are NOT WEST EUROPEAN hedgehogs which is what you have in Ireland and which is not commonly kept as a pet. It's like someone that lives in an area with lynxs in their backyard assuming that all cats are wild (that's false). As for a trend, well it's a pretty long trend then I guess. I've been breeding them for 16 years and they were around for at least another 12 years before that.

  • When it comes to "domesticated" hedgehogs:

Hedgehog domestication began in the early 1980s. They still have much of their wild behavior.

The purchase of domesticated hedgehogs has seen a considerable increase in the last few years due to their apparently innocent and playful looks.

It is illegal to own a hedgehog as a pet in some U.S. states and some Canadian municipalities, and breeding licenses are required. No such restrictions exist in most European countries, the exception Scandinavia.

  • I just got my second hedgie. Hes the most social thing ever like a hamster/ I love them.

  • if they are socialized properly they amek GREAT pets.

    there so curious and friedndly

  • Also, if everyone wants a hedgehog they will become a 'trend' and then soon be abandoned for god knows what reason, just like how pet rats are being abused now thanks to 'Ratatouille' or whatever it is called. I just read that conservationists in britain are VERY worried about said 'trend'.

I am not having a go at this video, the owner clearly cared for him as he was a rescue animal am I correct?

  • Same could be said of cats, dogs, mice, ferrets, etc. African pygmy hedgehogs have been domesticated for a very long time and are extremely popular as a pet. They arent new on the market."..but generally they are wild animals." Where do you live to see wild hedgehogs? Generally they are not!Perhaps you live in Europe and are talking of European hedgehogs, they are NOT the same. If so, your assumption is correct otherwise you arent aware of this species and don't know what you're talking about.

  • Well yes I am from Ireland and if you are out at night you pretty much see a hedgehog or two every time. Cats and dogs have been living with humans for centuries. I have never heard of pet hedgehogs before and I used to work with animals in a sanctuary so I DO know what I am talking about thanks, as far as pets in Britain are concerned. My main worry was that people would not know how to care for hedgehogs as they are generally wild here. Also did some research and they are 'trend pets'.

  • People please don't all rush out and buy hedgehogs now.

I have met a domesticated hedgehog and it was absolutely adorable and very sweet and friendly but generally they are wild animals.

Sorry to hear about this little darling :(

  • Generally they are not wild animals. sorry

  • Where are you from? Are you being serious?

You could say any animal would make a good pet if properly socialized.

  • is a hedgehog be a pet does it fur soft is it like a hamster does it bite??

    where can u get it?

    write back plaese!!

  • Hedghogs have soft underbellies, but are prickly everywhere else. My hedgehog never bit me.

I got my hedgehog from an old lady who couldn't take care of it anymore. She bought it from a private breeder.

  • Where the hell can you get a hedgehog for a pet?! Nice!

  • Could you tell me what the story was with the hedgehog?
