  • LOL he had hardly started

  • Beautiful, WELL DONE ;) you are really talented

  • 1:02 your welcome

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • LOL!!!!!

  • I JUST LOVE THIS VIDEO.I like it when he's like "oooooohhh" after his bow breaks.Very cute

  • great performance despite your bow breaking at the tip haha i'm playing this work this semester

  • i think i would have cursed and laughed but i dont think im very mature. ^_^ ur awesome btw

  • he handled the situation quite maturely.

  • awww his face was like what the hell

  • AHAHA. <3 I love how you both are like "HUH?!"

    : D

    Good job playing though!!!

  • awesome!!!!

  • lovely

  • lmao look at the piano guy when he breaks it

  • Very funny

  • omg, it like exploded! o_O well that was amusing. but ou did a brilliant job afterwards!! XD

  • You are an amzing player. The bow snapping will be a moment you will laugh at in the future. Good job.

  • Very brave boy. I remember (52 years ago?) when I was adjusting my bow tie in mom's mirror over the fireplace (jumping up and down to see it) and I backed up and backed up not looking behind me and I sat down on the open violin case on the couch behind me containing the violin my teacher had given/lent me to play the Mediation from Thais. He had said it had a mellow tone perfect for Massenet. It broke in two, the neck separating from the body and the glue I tried wouldnt keep the pieces together

  • Buy a Carbon Fiber bow because it has a very good quality and it costs only 150$

  • sounds like anne sophie mutter...

  • I just got a question. I don't play the violin, even though I want to, how much does it cost to get a bow replaced?

  • @KeiyarlaDraga it depends on what bow ur playin. well if a cheap one.. it costs you around maybe 50$

  • @helen624 Wow, and my brother wants to start learning to play the violin. Now that's expensive, and I thought oboe reeds was expensive, like about $5-7, I will never think that expensive again...

  • @KeiyarlaDraga the difference is you go through more oboe reeds than violin bows--and if its only the horsehair that snaps thats alot cheaper to replace

  • My bow broke 2 times - Bravo!!!!!!!

  • Dum dum dum duuuuum-POP.

  • this is hilarious

  • Wonderful playing, dear boy! :-) You also have great stage discipline - you kept still during the entire tutti exposition. Credit too goes to the lady who re-assured you - wish I had a teacher like that when I was learning the violin! Briliant playing. You're a great violinist in the making!

  • this version of beriot it´s great! incluid the bowbreaking! haahah :)

  • His expression of the bow breaking was sooo cute! XD

  • why is it cursed??

  • And when he say: Ohhh!! jaja XD

  • it sounds and looks like an explosion XD

sorry for your bow. you are a good violinist.

  • haha! I guess that happens. Congratulations on your performance!

  • ahhhaa my standparttnerrr for all statee (:!

  • I remember finding this video unexpectedly last year and cracking up. A year later, my friend told me this piece is cursed. Last year, a girl I know who played this movement started off on a squeaky note, as did my friend. Poor Alan broke his bow in this video. But honestly, this is the best interpretation of De Beriot's 9th Concerto that I've ever heard. Keep up the good work!

  • ahahahahahahaahha nigger... ahahahahhahahaha got OWNED XD

  • It's more important when you have fun while you're playing

  • dadgum asians....j/k

    Excellent performance!!!

  • Man I could not believe your luck with your bow braking, but that 10 mins wait while you got a new bow was totally worth it.

  • you....are....my....idol!!!!!!

  • Ooohhh, you are a so poor boy. But you are so cute!

  • Woooow! My dream is, that I can play as good as you!

  • very good!!

  • That is a typical bow rehairing problem. The shim in the tip comes lose when it's not fitted properly. The amount of hair depends on the gauge used. If you reuse the shim the amount and type of hair has to be the same. If a new shim was used, it was cut wrong (small).Cutting the shim of the tip is a huge part of the art of rehairing. If it's to big will easily split the grain of the wood on the tip and the bow will be ruin. your bowing is not rough to the violin or bow .

  • omg sooooooooo funny!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I thought it was gonna happen a second time. lol

  • You needn't cry - it can happen at everybody, at me, too.

A carbon fiber bow is good, because its billig and the quality is good.

  • I want to play the piece :-)

  • Comment removed

  • ask ya parents to buy a Peccato when you have grown to be a professional violinist ;)

  • You have a lot of skill! it's unfortunate that your bow broke!

lol it was so funny though

  • aww lol

  • I bet it was too much tighten and it broke under pressure

  • lol, that was funny but unexpected! But nice playing kiddo! Keep it up!

  • lololol that was so funny *poof*

  • you play very beautifully! a shame that your bow exploded. :(

  • That's epic fail totally.

  • i want to see you try.

  • I played it 2 years ago, when I was 11

  • Geese this DEbERiot wrote many violin con.I bet no symph or anything else just a violinist writing music he could play.Such romanti music performed without a sense of its maudlin idiom .Saccharine ,but i like it.

  • wow that is awesome:)

  • Ouch, that happened to me once too, but luckily it was not during a performance :D Very well played!

  • haha. he was cute ^o^

  • that's why you buy carbon fiber man!

    haha

  • all bout them CODA bows lol

  • HAHA the bow breaking was pretty funny but yea the rest of the playing was amazing!

  • ahahahaha that made me laugh.

  • That was funny about the bow, at least it was at the beginning. I played this piece five years ago, of course I was 17 at the time!

  • I also played this wonderful concerto a year ago, but I was 21 at the time, on the contrary you are still very young!!! Bravo!

Go on this way, you'll become a master...

  • xD good playing

  • ditto. great violin great playing

  • That was so amusing.

    XD

And I gotta say, I LOVE the sound of you and your violin.

  • dear**

  • wooow you are amazing

  • beautyfull you're great musican

  • great job. i have heard others but this is one of the best non-proffesional (i mean like, perlman/heifetz ones, i mean THAT standard, not that your not good) great job keeping going. happened to me before doing saint-saens introduction and rondo cappricioso.. i freaked, couldn't keep going. Great intonation, articulation and most importantly, INTERPRETATION! De beriot would be proud!

  • I think he is the best of all the youtube performances of this piece and haven't even seen any version from Perlman, or any other pro, however I would like to find one. Great work!!

  • Nice technique!

  • What is this song about? It's really good, well played!

  • way to stay calm! I would have freaked:D

  • Bravo! Parabéns para os dois!

  • shit fool. that was good. lol your bow gets kinda out of hand sometimes. but... it was fantastically well played, and i aint kiddinnn. your face was really suprised when you broke your bow hair lol.

  • Is that Greenfield at MSM?

  • Just the anticipation of waiting for him to play and then finally, when it seems it's about to start. POW! "Ooooooo".

  • OMG it was fantastic :-)

All in all you played it perfect! I imagine how hard was playing with the unknown bow of someone else... congratulations !!!!

  • You are exelent after this acident. Bravo. You have very strong nervos, you play so perfect after this.

  • where's the adagio part to this piece

  • That happened to a girl in my orchestra class... during a rehersal though, good thing

  • never mind the bow... but ur violin has a very beautiful voice ... i find that rare...urs must be a well-made one... :->

  • WAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHA

  • AHHAHHA

  • OMG THATS SOO SAD...

he must have been extremly embarrased.....

    omg i feel bad....

  • I'm sorry, but that was absolutely hilarious!!!!!!!

  • poor guy!

  • You are awesome!! I'm definitely buying a violin now, I want to learn as soon as possible. I was told that too start a cheap one is good, is that true? I don't have money to pay for a $600 violin.

    By the way, lmao!!

  • let me give you a tip... most violin sellers are gonna try to scam amature violin shoppers... dont fall for the azn ppls saying something like "i guarentee you this is the best"

  • I know, but I'm really good at shopping around and hassling with prices. Besides, I asked my violinist friend to come with me and help me pick. She should know which are the good ones, even if they're cheap.

  • STFU im azn and do u think i lie to ppl?.....may be a little but not to scam

  • Your playing inspires me to practice,to even chug through the boring exercises!! Starting at 16 is really not late compared to the age some people start, and I must work to play like you, which is a compliment as you're a fair shot younger than me. Great work, you didn't deserve to have this accident! hehe

  • I can't imagine how shocked I would be.. you did great in keeping cool and playing an excellent piece- that takes courage = ) good work!!

  • your expresions are so funny ! "oooooh" haha ! Wow wish i could play like you one day! Are you going to make a career in music?

  • nice sound ;)

  • Hahaha the bowbreaking part was priceless, you did a great job on the rest though!

  • HHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • wow

  • lol you looked absolutely shocked there! at least it was near the start not the end!

  • My worst blunder. As a viola player in an orchestra I dropped my bow 30 minutes before concert. Luckily a violist lend my hers. Only problem.... I learned that day the difference between a violin bow and violin bow. The violin bow is really flimsy and I wasnt going to break two in one day ;) so I played really softly the entire concert.

  • Dude, you need to find a better luthier! They didn't plug your bow very well the last time you had it rehaired.

The sound totally took the pianist out of his zone! That was beautiful! LOL

  • is he going to fall over or what

  • i love how he kidna just stands there and sways as the pianist plays ahah

  • chinese 2 inch

  • i dropped my bow wheni was performing lol

  • ROFL xDD Nice job, though! :D

  • jaja! the boww xD

    very very very gooodd! !;)

  • wonderful sound. You have lot's of potential. Good luck in the future!

  • wow what....how old are you. thats amazing keep it up

  • LOL i had to watch that part at least 100 times LOL

  • hahahahah omg that's crazy, i'd totally start crying! :/ but when you actually played, it was amazing!

  • You certainly made up for it with such an amazing, precocious performance!

    What's the piece btw?

  • The same thing happened to me once, I made the exact same face! The "Uhm..wtf?" face. I mean, what else are you supposed to do? Your really good though! Make sure you match the speed of your vabrato with the lagato sections because you've got a really, really fast vabrato.

  • nice! there were a few flat notes in the beginning, but wow! that was simply amazing!

when i first saw this, i was seriously crying when the bow broke! lol!

    great job!

  • amazing, and the bow breaking was kinda funny, but you played amazingly

  • genial !!!!

  • c'est genial!

  • THAT WAS SOOOO BEAUTIFUL I AM SPEECHLESS....

im talking about the second performance, the first one was hilarious.

  • lololol!!!! the accompanist's face is priceless! aww im sorry this happened. u played so well after though.

  • lol it really is XD XD XD thanks for pointing it out!

  • haha lol

  • haha gotta love the wtf? face he makes. and the pianist

  • lol! aww,, that happened to me too! my bow broke in the middle of a performance.... and it wasn't the hairs that came off, the wood snapped... it was pretty funny.... lol

  • ROFL i feel sorry for u

  • You're totally amazing, nice playing :]

  • rofl alan.. this is Sam. remember i was sitting right next to u when this happened? i thought i was gonna die, it was so whack and scary.. xD

  • i personally wouldn't have finished it smoothly after that little accident, but you did a nice job. working on this piece now. i love it

  • hahahahahaha but very nice playing!!

  • Good playing !

  • hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • LLLAWLLLLLLLLLL but nice afterwards

  • And you spell a little wrong ;)

  • Lol?! How is he doing it wrong, it looks fine and sounds fine to me.

  • When the bow hair snapped I jumped--haha I wasn't expecting it to happen right at the beggining. Excellent playing though!

  • You did a great job with the piece. My daughter just performed it for an audition with the Youth Orchestra. LOL at the bow breaking. :)

  • very nice and musical

  • outstanding performance @1:03 ... awesome playing *****

  • that was freakin hilarious

  • aww u didnt break the other bow

  • :( That happened when i was auditioning for a conservatory, my bow got caught on the e string and the e string and the bow tip went KABLOOEY!

    I borrowed someone else's violin.

    i didn't get in.

    haha.

  • hey, are you in peabody prep? that stage strangely looks like goodwin hall recital hall at peabody conservatory

  • Just the tip of the bow fell out, but still the same ,it's not usable anymore.

I use pernambuco too coz of its strength & superb control, but I don't know its maker's name. About carbon fibre, only the highest quality can compete with pernambuco, but they're already popular with professionals. Pernambuco is also an endangered tree; I hope they could develop carbon fibre even better to make it a sufficient substitute.

  • TOO FUNNY LOL!!!

  • holy shit. that was hilarious. all i can say is i want that to never happen to me

  • OWNAGEE!!!! That was EPPICC!! LOL I think i also broke something from laughing so hard lol! Gw mate =D

  • Sorry about the bow O_O. Oh wow, I'm playing this for my exam. Hope that doesn't happen to me.

That cracked me up though XD

  • LOL yesterday played this in the concert and before i was about to start playing I though "Eh that would be funny if i would break my bow like in that video" and BAM the same thing happened to me but in a different place xD

  • LOL nice. If you recorded it you should post it on Youtube. xD

  • :( Dont have anyone to record

  • haha cracks me up every time! awesome recovery, though!

  • Omg I laughed too even if I were there I think I would've laughed. I've never gotten close to breaking anything not even a bow hair. I'm such a wimp lol.

It's tough you still sounded great even after the sudden change.

  • use stronger pernambuco/ carbon fibre bows..bow breaks usually occur with the cheaper brazilwoods

poor lil bow...but you're lucky it occurred quite early! :)

  • pernambuco is the awesomes :) its what i have. who makes your bows?

i personally dont like carbon fibre bows. cuz theyre too heavy and you cant..."feel" the instrument quite as well. was the bow really broken? or just the tip fell out? cuz um...idk...respond :)

  • Yeah Alan!!! Haha I remember that, I was in the audience :)

(By the way this is Ben)

  • I COULD WATCH THIS ALL DAY! I remember playing this though, good thing my bow didn't break. X-D

  • Mdr j'aime bien la tête qu'il fait quand il voit que son archet est cassé =)

  • Sorry about the bow, but the video is priceless. There are tears in my eyes right now from laughing. Anyway, you recovered really well. The only time I ever had a bow break was during an orchestra thing, so thankfully, I wasn't the centre of attention. Great job on the piece. (Particularly the second half ;))

  • the look on your face at 1:05 was priceless

  • that was awesome. I'm playing that for my High School Audition.... I'm 14. Anyway are u chinese or what?

  • IT's so funy when both of them frozen'' olls

  • i love how the pianist just froze llol

  • gonna be onest, I laughed, but I have to say you play great! :)

  • Oh Dang, and I have a competition of this song on Saturday... though I like your style :)

--> The pianist looked even more confused and his expression was like huh? O_O....

  • how old are you im playing this now and im 16
