The problem is that since it's not considered a "commercial" game people think they're edgy for playing it and tend to think of it as a cult hit or an underrated classic when in reality it's actually grabbing attention away from REAL underrated classics like the oddworld games, or psychonauts, or ICO. Also, people need to move on from Episode 3. When it does come out it's gonna be a disappointment

I agree with you in every game... except you are missing a few SH!TTY games that shouldn't have been released. Wii Sports/Music/Play/Party. They are crap. The only one I recommend is Wii Sports Resort. Also, BioShock, Assassin's Creed and and (Super) Street Fighter IV. Plus, I agree with you; you need an upgrade, there are new sh!tty games that you should expose. And GTA4 wasn't THAT bad of a game, wasn't as linear as all the other games, which is why I never buy platform games... ever.
@prelynmax There used to be good open-ended platformer games, but the days of those seem to be gone. When I get into the game industry, that's one of the first things I want to try to bring back.

@Lurdanjo Bioshock is very linear. You can't get anywhere unless you do this or that first. Only how you attack is open-ended. The only real entertainment value is how the splites act. Some of them use puppets, or even talk to themselves. Other than that, you must follow the storyline, or else you can't go anywhere. Sure you can roam, but only as far as the game allows you to.
@prelynmax This is true, though the level design itself is more open than many other FPS games.
That being said, linear doesn't automatically mean bad, as long as the game is really fun to play and atmospheric, like Half-Life 2. However, there's really no reason for platforming games to be as linear as they are now, when they were once so wide open.

You are a fool. Final Fantasy X was the first FF game to ever come out on the Ps2. And you have to consider that It came out In 2001. It was THE MOST beautiful game In that period of time both In gameplay, graphics and music. No game could compare. And In kingdom hearts they did everything right. I agree with you about Sonic Gems Collection. I'm a Sonic and I never played Sonic CD when it first came out But I heard from MANY Sonic fans that CD was the best Sonic game EVER. So, I finally brought Gems Collection a coulple years ago. I have to say Sonic CD was awful! I did not like the graphic style of it or how they replaced the emeralds with those time stones. Not only that but the rest of the games in Gems Collect were a bunch of crap as well! Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles are way better than CD
@TheStarGod Sonic CD just seems like a really oddball game. It has the graphic style of the first game, and the way that one bounces around the levels is really confusing. It's less about collecting rings and zooming around paths and more about trying to get oriented, which I didn't care much for.

Also, I COMPLETELY agree with you on Jak II. The first Jak and Daxter was an AMAZING game. Jak II just completely screwed up the franchise. And this is why I have never played Jak 3 or the Uncharted games...

Honestly, I haven't given the Halo games enough of a chance, I'm willing to let them convert me over if I give them more time, but I have so many other games waiting for me to play that it's not a high priority.
@bucky555able It's not at all a bad game, it's just NOT MARIO. Square stuffed their influential fingers too deeply into Nintendo's pie, and the game feels far more like a SNES Final Fantasy than a Mario game, while the more recent Mario RPGs have balanced the Mario feel far better.

On the PS2 games. I agree with Kingdom Hearts... I bought it used cause my friend said it was SOOO good, but it took me forever to get into it. But when I did finally get into it I liked it.
I didn't play GTA4, only 3 and never played Jak.
But I still hold that FFX, (the only FF game I've played) and GOW, and Ratchet and Clank are VERY good games and disagree with you there. But everyone is entitled to his opinion :)

Comment about FFX made me laugh - "The CGI scenes are so obvious when they are CGI..." Uh duh? Considering the system the game came out on, it was pretty impressive. It's like he's trying to make a game that came out in 2000 on the PS2 compete with a current gen consoles and games. Fail fail , epic fail.
For its time, it claimed that the CGI scenes would be seamless with the gameplay, so obviously that wasn't the case. I'm still not sure why many cutscenes had pre-rendered cinematics mixed with engine-driven scenes in the same scenes.
For an rpg,its characters are rather bland and the story is uninteresting to me,really there are many games better.
Another game i think deserves to be slammed on is metal gear solid 4.
Metal gear solid 4 is a overhyped game and it lost its feel to make it seem more like a barely interactive movie with the feel of a medal of honor game.
I was rather disappointed also with the attempts to make people feel something but overdramatized the characters.
Halo 3 is definately totally overrated. If it didnt have masterchief in it and wasnt called halo 3 it would suck and wouldnt get nearly as much praise as it does.

I think gta4 is really fun, I still play it to this day. Graphics are always important but not the most important, it just makes the game that much better. If you are into games that have no story mediocre graphics and crude very retarded humor play saints row 2. if you like games that have awesome stories, dark humor, good graphics play gta4.

The guy who was reviewing TP from IGN said, "The best zelda, period." That comment kind of threw me off. It did offer something different at some points, but it disappointed many people. Now, the new Zelda game for the wii seems interesting even though we've only been shown an image of it.

One more comment. You forgot to mention Twilight Princess! Don't get me wrong. I did like the game and enjoyed it, but it was classified as "the best zelda game ever" by many people and reviewers. However the game was easy overall and didn't live up to OoT standards. The bosses looked amazing, but they sucked as bosses. I hope the new zelda game in development is more like Ocarina of Time Master Quest. That's a real zelda game!
Hmm... I never completely finished Twilight Princess, but I agree that it's not the best Zelda ever... feels just a little hollow for some reason compared to Ocarina of Time. Not too many reviews said it was BETTER than OoT, though... but you have a good point.

I liked GoW, but I do agree that it was all pretty graphics and button smashing. Metroid Prime 3 was not all that linear. You could go back to some planets and get some power ups though it was completely optional. Halo 3 was totally overrated. What the point of having a "legendary" multiplayer if the campaign sucks? It doesn't really suck, but it's not what it was promised. GTA4 didn't offer as much freedom as San Andreas. Btw, you also had a cellphone in San Andreas.

Metroid Prime 3 got absolutely fantastic reviews, though, when (aside from the voice acting) I thought it was a step down overall for the series, as I was expecting something rather amazing for the next-gen iteration other than just Wii controls. I didn't really notice the "better graphics" that a lot of reviews said, too. Still a good game, though.
Yeah, I didn't notice the change in graphics either. Plus, it was a shame they didn't add unlockables and stuff (by that, I don't mean just concept art and stuff). Let's see how how Metroid other-M does, though that one is not part of the Prime series.

Seeing as you're only 15, perhaps you don't understand how much more amazing a game can be when you're able to explore it at your own pace and go wherever you want to go. You missed out on some of the best games of the 5th generation.
I don't hate linear games, I'm just upset that games are becoming more and more linear. It IS bad for games to be linear because it takes away options for the player and makes the game more of an interactive movie and less something actually fun.
Halo 3 isnt overrated it is an amazing game, yes the campaign isnt too good but Master Cheif is not bland. Im amazed that you didnt talk about the epic multi-player Halo 3 is known for!
I usually don't play a game for the multiplayer, because most random people playing games online are total douchenozzles that don't enrich a game experience for me whatsoever.

But trust me; Jak 3 is way better than Jak II, and Kingdom Hearts II is weaker than I. KHII was waaaay too easy and linear.

The most overrated out of the overrated was Metal Gear Solid 2. Why? We all expected to play as Snake, but we play as a new screwed up character named Raiden and the character we wanted to play only was playable in the first mission.
To make matters worse, there's a first person view, no invisibility (what we expected), and character development went to the wrong direction. Why did it get a good rating?
I have yet to play that game, since I'm still trying to get through the user-unfriendly first game, and it's already feeling convoluted and ridiculous as all hell. XD
Halo 3 is much as overrated as Halo 2. Why? For Halo 2 the new feature was you play as the arbiter, you play as the foe of the series, irronic huh? You're right. The first one was not overrated (or at least not overhyped) because it came out of nowhere. More people were expecting the forgettable Dead or Alive 3 to be the best Xbox launch title.
The second and third ones got unbelievable amounts of hype, though.
You mentioned that Half Life beats the pants out of Halo, I honestly think they're both overrated. Halo is more overrated, because Halo is one of the few games that hurt the sales of its competition. But Half Life is overrated because everyone who talks about it pretty much praise it as the best fps ever or as if it's flawless. I bought Orangebox, played HL2 and Ep1, and it was boring. Not enough story, gameplay isn't anything unique or special, and it was too repetitive.
I can see your point, and I respect it. The story is very subtle in the Half-Life 2 games, but it's definitely there and not forced upon anyone. It's not flawless, and it can be repetitive, but I was sucked into its environment from the very beginning and found the game extremely fun.
As far as the gameplay not being unique, it was very unique for its time, especially the way it created cinematic sequences. What did you find unoriginal about it?
I do agree, that HL2 has a good sense of environment. I go into the homes, and some of the people are holding each other, sirens going off, and the tvs have broadcasts on. All this makes the environment give a sense of disaster or a crisis is happening. So the environment and atmosphere was a strong point, I just didn't feel much of a story
The gameplay: a lot of FPS games would have some kind of unique element to the shooting that would give that game a certain flavor. Ex: FEAR has slo-mo and great AI in which the enemies are very tactile. Riddick has stealth, eyeshine, and good AI as well. The Darkness has powers. Etc.
Now the shooting in HL2 is like Doom 3, enemies either stand there or run at you, so it just feels like plain run-n-gun.
With the boring AI, the only element that could help the shooting is to have interesting weapons. My favorite was the ant-lion thing, but that was only available for one stage. Other than that, what's unique about the weapons? I guess the grav gun was unique, but it really didn't change the gameplay all that much. The puzzles for the grav gun weren't fun or challenging either. All those puzzles were "here is an exit, make a pathway to get to it" and these get boring after so many times.
I agree with all of them except for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. However, I believe that game was definitely overhyped, as the final product ended up falling short of the lofty expectations that the website had been fueling me.
I agree on all of those, too. I wouldn't say that "Sonic Unleashed" was overrated, though, as much as overhyped, and of course it totally sucked when it came out, but that was no surprise to me. Sonic has been dead since "Sonic & Knuckles".
well, not exactly. Sonic stopped being very fun after Sonic Heroes, i think. but, if SEGA could make a game that doesn't suck so bad, they would get more sells for their games. They should think things through with their gameplay, camera angles, storylines and other things. and make the levels a bitch-helluva lot longer and make the music very actiony and less bullshit. but, in my head right now, i'd say Halo Wars is being extremely overrated these days.
Sonic Adventure was overrated, Sonic Adventure 2 was frustrating, hard to play, and had an idiotic story, and I honestly haven't played enough of Sonic Heroes to make a judgement other than that it's nowhere near as good as the traditional 2D games.
SEGA is certainly capable of making good games, it's Sonic Team that's struggling lately.

I thought twilight princess was just linear crap too. old legend of zelda games were very vaige and made you feel like you made the decisions. twilight princess called the shots. and it was a hell of a lot less creative than the others. and it did not feel like it was very adult. the zelda games on the n64 had a since of mystery behind them. twilight princess was just boring. yeah it was big...but so I thought the enviroments had nothing in them that made them worth looking into.
Very good point. Twilight Princess felt a lot more linear than Ocarina of Time for some reason. I thought that it strived for a more mature, adult feeling, and the cut scenes definitely conveyed that, but the overall gameplay actually seems quite a bit EASIER than OoT.
Ah well, let's hope the next Zelda will be pretty cool, unless they're going to casualize that as well. >_>

Even just ONE major complaint would make it not a 10 out of 10, which many sites have given it, meaning it would automatically be overrated, even by a small amount.

I never said it was perfect. It isn't, but it is nevertheless a brilliant game and it deserves its reputation. A game can have minor faults and still be great. Even the very best games have some fault or other. I have played many, many videogames, and out of all of them Grand Theft Auto IV is certainly one of the best.

Don't get me wrong, GTAIV is still a fantastic game, it just didn't deserve all of the perfect scores that it got, therefore it's overrated, as in rated higher than it should be.
I dun't think Super Mario 64 or Tomb Raider are overrated
At least both of those games did something new, and did it right. And Tomb Raider was one of the first few games in where you play as a female in stark contrast where most games typically put you in the shoes of a male
I think all recent Final Fantasy games are overrated. It seems like they took all the fun and exploration out of the franchise and replaced them with cheesy characters and fancy CGI cutscenes. I have tried to get into FF games, but I could never make it more than a few hours before I felt like I was playing through an interactive movie more than a video game. Personally, I prefer "playing" games. At least Oblivion and Fallout 3 try to take RPGs back to their roots, ya know, "role playing"!
The only problem with me is that I was too late to get into any of the big RPG classics of the time, since I only got a Super Nintendo once the N64 and PlayStation were already out. By then I had already discovered my favorite genres. That's why it's hard for me to get into non-immersive RPGs with irritating characters and nonsense storylines. :p
I agree That IV isn't the best game, not the best GTA either. But it definetely deserves a 9/10.

The problem is that since it's not considered a "commercial" game people think they're edgy for playing it and tend to think of it as a cult hit or an underrated classic when in reality it's actually grabbing attention away from REAL underrated classics like the oddworld games, or psychonauts, or ICO. Also, people need to move on from Episode 3. When it does come out it's gonna be a disappointment

I agree with you in every game... except you are missing a few SH!TTY games that shouldn't have been released. Wii Sports/Music/Play/Party. They are crap. The only one I recommend is Wii Sports Resort. Also, BioShock, Assassin's Creed and and (Super) Street Fighter IV. Plus, I agree with you; you need an upgrade, there are new sh!tty games that you should expose. And GTA4 wasn't THAT bad of a game, wasn't as linear as all the other games, which is why I never buy platform games... ever.

@Lurdanjo Bioshock is very linear. You can't get anywhere unless you do this or that first. Only how you attack is open-ended. The only real entertainment value is how the splites act. Some of them use puppets, or even talk to themselves. Other than that, you must follow the storyline, or else you can't go anywhere. Sure you can roam, but only as far as the game allows you to.

That being said, linear doesn't automatically mean bad, as long as the game is really fun to play and atmospheric, like Half-Life 2. However, there's really no reason for platforming games to be as linear as they are now, when they were once so wide open.

You are a fool. Final Fantasy X was the first FF game to ever come out on the Ps2. And you have to consider that It came out In 2001. It was THE MOST beautiful game In that period of time both In gameplay, graphics and music. No game could compare. And In kingdom hearts they did everything right. I agree with you about Sonic Gems Collection. I'm a Sonic and I never played Sonic CD when it first came out But I heard from MANY Sonic fans that CD was the best Sonic game EVER. So, I finally brought Gems Collection a coulple years ago. I have to say Sonic CD was awful! I did not like the graphic style of it or how they replaced the emeralds with those time stones. Not only that but the rest of the games in Gems Collect were a bunch of crap as well! Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles are way better than CD

On the PS2 games. I agree with Kingdom Hearts... I bought it used cause my friend said it was SOOO good, but it took me forever to get into it. But when I did finally get into it I liked it.
I didn't play GTA4, only 3 and never played Jak.
But I still hold that FFX, (the only FF game I've played) and GOW, and Ratchet and Clank are VERY good games and disagree with you there. But everyone is entitled to his opinion :)

Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, while I do agree that the 2nd one was better I must say that the 3rd one has more weapons & the scene where they watch Courtney Gears & Ratchet beatboxes is legendary.

For its time, it claimed that the CGI scenes would be seamless with the gameplay, so obviously that wasn't the case. I'm still not sure why many cutscenes had pre-rendered cinematics mixed with engine-driven scenes in the same scenes.

Metal gear solid 4 is a overhyped game and it lost its feel to make it seem more like a barely interactive movie with the feel of a medal of honor game.
I was rather disappointed also with the attempts to make people feel something but overdramatized the characters.

For one thing,its linear,you have a few islands to explore and the characters are jammed on them and easy to find.
Second of all,i hate exploring with a boat,you get alot of fights constantly and it can be really annoying.
3rd of all i hate the customization of the game for weapons and such,seriously i consider this game the worse suikoden i've played yet.

The guy who was reviewing TP from IGN said, "The best zelda, period." That comment kind of threw me off. It did offer something different at some points, but it disappointed many people. Now, the new Zelda game for the wii seems interesting even though we've only been shown an image of it.

One more comment. You forgot to mention Twilight Princess! Don't get me wrong. I did like the game and enjoyed it, but it was classified as "the best zelda game ever" by many people and reviewers. However the game was easy overall and didn't live up to OoT standards. The bosses looked amazing, but they sucked as bosses. I hope the new zelda game in development is more like Ocarina of Time Master Quest. That's a real zelda game!

Hmm... I never completely finished Twilight Princess, but I agree that it's not the best Zelda ever... feels just a little hollow for some reason compared to Ocarina of Time. Not too many reviews said it was BETTER than OoT, though... but you have a good point.
Again, my overrated list is still GOOD games, just not GODLY games. I'm glad you understand this simple concept when many other commenters didn't. ^^

I liked GoW, but I do agree that it was all pretty graphics and button smashing. Metroid Prime 3 was not all that linear. You could go back to some planets and get some power ups though it was completely optional. Halo 3 was totally overrated. What the point of having a "legendary" multiplayer if the campaign sucks? It doesn't really suck, but it's not what it was promised. GTA4 didn't offer as much freedom as San Andreas. Btw, you also had a cellphone in San Andreas.

I agree with everything you said. Metroid Prime 3 got absolutely fantastic reviews, though, when (aside from the voice acting) I thought it was a step down overall for the series, as I was expecting something rather amazing for the next-gen iteration other than just Wii controls. I didn't really notice the "better graphics" that a lot of reviews said, too. Still a good game, though.

Yeah, I didn't notice the change in graphics either. Plus, it was a shame they didn't add unlockables and stuff (by that, I don't mean just concept art and stuff). Let's see how how Metroid other-M does, though that one is not part of the Prime series.

Seeing as you're only 15, perhaps you don't understand how much more amazing a game can be when you're able to explore it at your own pace and go wherever you want to go. You missed out on some of the best games of the 5th generation.
I don't hate linear games, I'm just upset that games are becoming more and more linear. It IS bad for games to be linear because it takes away options for the player and makes the game more of an interactive movie and less something actually fun.

I usually don't play a game for the multiplayer, because most random people playing games online are total douchenozzles that don't enrich a game experience for me whatsoever.
If you say that the campaign isn't too good, how can you say that the game in general is amazing? For a game to be amazing, it can't have ANY dead spots.

About the Jak and Daxter series, they DID make it better. How?
Here are the advantages of Jak 2 over the first Jak game:
- Longer to beat (12 - 15 hours)
- More challenging and action packed than the first
- More mature and interesting storyline
- Introduction to weapons
- Characters were WAY more interesting and deep than the first
- Lots of entertaining cutscenes with great voice acting
- Open city to travel around
So, no they didn't ruin the series.

- Longer to beat doesn't necessarily mean it's better, especially if the gameplay isn't as good.
- The series wasn't originally about action, so it felt very weird to concentrate more on that than the free-roaming adventure from the first.
- I wouldn't say more mature as much as it made things startlingly dark and added more adult language in very odd and unnecessary places.
- The weapons kinda ruined the game IMO. The original game was not about weapons at all, but exploration.

- I'll give you that the characters are more interesting, but that's not really an achievement since the first game was so one-dimensional about them.
- I thought the cutscenes were cringeworthy IMHO.
- Wasn't really that open of a city, just several paths that went nowhere and had nothing to do. You still had to go to very specific places at specific times and follow the level exactly the way the designers wanted you to.
You're entitled to your opinion, but I still think they bastardized J&D.

And Jak 3 expanded on Jak 2's improvements as well as having eliminated the ridiculously hard gameplay in...certain moments if you will.
But I'm kind of surprised that he didn't rate Jak 3 or Kingdom Hearts II as more overrated than Jak II and Kingdom Hearts I respectively. Why is that, Lurdanjo? Either you haven't played those games or you liked them better.
But trust me; Jak 3 is way better than Jak II, and Kingdom Hearts II is weaker than I. KHII was waaaay too easy and linear.

Also you pointed out that there were a lot of overrated games in the PS2 library.
The most overrated out of the overrated was Metal Gear Solid 2. Why? We all expected to play as Snake, but we play as a new screwed up character named Raiden and the character we wanted to play only was playable in the first mission.
To make matters worse, there's a first person view, no invisibility (what we expected), and character development went to the wrong direction. Why did it get a good rating?

Halo 3 is much as overrated as Halo 2. Why? For Halo 2 the new feature was you play as the arbiter, you play as the foe of the series, irronic huh? And don't get me started with the ending of Halo 2 because it was dissapointing and it was just promoting Halo 3 and Xbox 360, and that gave reviewers a higher score than Halo 1?
Now the Halo 3 came out and there's nothing else new, besides grapics and weapons. There's no doubt that the halo series is overrated due to the fact that its repetitive.

You're right. The first one was not overrated (or at least not overhyped) because it came out of nowhere. More people were expecting the forgettable Dead or Alive 3 to be the best Xbox launch title.
The second and third ones got unbelievable amounts of hype, though.

You mentioned that Half Life beats the pants out of Halo, I honestly think they're both overrated. Halo is more overrated, because Halo is one of the few games that hurt the sales of its competition. But Half Life is overrated because everyone who talks about it pretty much praise it as the best fps ever or as if it's flawless. I bought Orangebox, played HL2 and Ep1, and it was boring. Not enough story, gameplay isn't anything unique or special, and it was too repetitive.

I can see your point, and I respect it. The story is very subtle in the Half-Life 2 games, but it's definitely there and not forced upon anyone. It's not flawless, and it can be repetitive, but I was sucked into its environment from the very beginning and found the game extremely fun.
As far as the gameplay not being unique, it was very unique for its time, especially the way it created cinematic sequences. What did you find unoriginal about it?

I do agree, that HL2 has a good sense of environment. I go into the homes, and some of the people are holding each other, sirens going off, and the tvs have broadcasts on. All this makes the environment give a sense of disaster or a crisis is happening. So the environment and atmosphere was a strong point, I just didn't feel much of a story

The gameplay: a lot of FPS games would have some kind of unique element to the shooting that would give that game a certain flavor. Ex: FEAR has slo-mo and great AI in which the enemies are very tactile. Riddick has stealth, eyeshine, and good AI as well. The Darkness has powers. Etc.
Now the shooting in HL2 is like Doom 3, enemies either stand there or run at you, so it just feels like plain run-n-gun.

With the boring AI, the only element that could help the shooting is to have interesting weapons. My favorite was the ant-lion thing, but that was only available for one stage. Other than that, what's unique about the weapons? I guess the grav gun was unique, but it really didn't change the gameplay all that much. The puzzles for the grav gun weren't fun or challenging either. All those puzzles were "here is an exit, make a pathway to get to it" and these get boring after so many times.

I agree on all of those, too. I wouldn't say that "Sonic Unleashed" was overrated, though, as much as overhyped, and of course it totally sucked when it came out, but that was no surprise to me. Sonic has been dead since "Sonic & Knuckles".

well, not exactly. Sonic stopped being very fun after Sonic Heroes, i think. but, if SEGA could make a game that doesn't suck so bad, they would get more sells for their games. They should think things through with their gameplay, camera angles, storylines and other things. and make the levels a bitch-helluva lot longer and make the music very actiony and less bullshit. but, in my head right now, i'd say Halo Wars is being extremely overrated these days.

Sonic Adventure was overrated, Sonic Adventure 2 was frustrating, hard to play, and had an idiotic story, and I honestly haven't played enough of Sonic Heroes to make a judgement other than that it's nowhere near as good as the traditional 2D games.
SEGA is certainly capable of making good games, it's Sonic Team that's struggling lately.
Halo Wars is barely selling at all at my store, as far as I know. It was another overhyped game that actually isn't getting a lot of attention.

I thought twilight princess was just linear crap too. old legend of zelda games were very vaige and made you feel like you made the decisions. twilight princess called the shots. and it was a hell of a lot less creative than the others. and it did not feel like it was very adult. the zelda games on the n64 had a since of mystery behind them. twilight princess was just boring. yeah it was big...but so I thought the enviroments had nothing in them that made them worth looking into.

Very good point. Twilight Princess felt a lot more linear than Ocarina of Time for some reason. I thought that it strived for a more mature, adult feeling, and the cut scenes definitely conveyed that, but the overall gameplay actually seems quite a bit EASIER than OoT.
Ah well, let's hope the next Zelda will be pretty cool, unless they're going to casualize that as well. >_>

So you would say that Grand Theft Auto IV is perfect, or near perfection, that it achieves everything it set out to do, that it gave you the ultimate gaming experience, that you had no complaints with it?
Even just ONE major complaint would make it not a 10 out of 10, which many sites have given it, meaning it would automatically be overrated, even by a small amount.
I don't recall mentioning Resident Evil 4 at all in this video.

I never said it was perfect. It isn't, but it is nevertheless a brilliant game and it deserves its reputation. A game can have minor faults and still be great. Even the very best games have some fault or other. I have played many, many videogames, and out of all of them Grand Theft Auto IV is certainly one of the best.

At least both of those games did something new, and did it right. And Tomb Raider was one of the first few games in where you play as a female in stark contrast where most games typically put you in the shoes of a male

I think all recent Final Fantasy games are overrated. It seems like they took all the fun and exploration out of the franchise and replaced them with cheesy characters and fancy CGI cutscenes. I have tried to get into FF games, but I could never make it more than a few hours before I felt like I was playing through an interactive movie more than a video game. Personally, I prefer "playing" games. At least Oblivion and Fallout 3 try to take RPGs back to their roots, ya know, "role playing"!

The only problem with me is that I was too late to get into any of the big RPG classics of the time, since I only got a Super Nintendo once the N64 and PlayStation were already out. By then I had already discovered my favorite genres. That's why it's hard for me to get into non-immersive RPGs with irritating characters and nonsense storylines. :p
