Saint Etienne is a french city :) I was surprise when I learnt that the band call Saint Etienne :) (sorry I don't speak english verry well because I'm french and I'm 15)

@Nekoma42 St. Etienne is a football club. St. Etienne's first album is (F)ox(B)ase (A)lpha, communications codewords for FBA = Football Association. The first "tune" on the album even has football connotations, so the homage isn't hard to grasp.

Apparently, three people have no heart at all. I have been in love with St. Etienne since FBA came out and first heard the original version of this track on what must have been KNDD in Seattle - not all that long after they came on the airwaves and before they decided to play nothing but grunge bands back in the day. Haven't heard this version before, but it won't be the last time either :-)

I think you'll find a lot more has been done other than "just added a new bass line".

I suggest you cue both versions (Fox Base Alpha and Beta) and then switch between them...

Making a flippant comment like that proves that you don't have an ear for detail.

It's available on 12" vinyl limited run sold through the Saint Etienne website.

Might be sold out now cos it was released about a year ago.

Richard X remixed the whole FoxBase Alpha album (renamed FoxBase Beta) which includes this track. Available as mp3 download on Amazon, but looks like the CD version may be sold out now too.
