the teams are placed into 4 pots.

The Best 8 - in Pot A

The 9th best to 16th best - in Pot B

etc.

and then one team is drawn from each Pot to make a group of 4

The winner of the Croatia/England group will go into Pot A and the 2nd place teams will go into Pot B.

The winner of CONCACAF goes into Pot A. And that will probably be USA.

So if Croatia wins their group and USA wins CONCACAF then it is impossible for them to be in the same group.

Ivica Olic seems like a truly great guy. What a great game he had. I just wish that header went in. When I saw that perfect Srna corner my heart jumped and I was thinking 3-1! Anybody who hates Olic can eat a bag of balls. Remember he scored in the 2002 WC (game winner) and against England. Apart from the 98 squad that goal against England along with Petrics has to be considered power shifting moments in Croatian football history. Mark my words... this game defined this team.

But we did beat you twice in the same qualification round nad that counts for something. Some terrible play by England but some brilliant play by Croatia. I would agree with that. The problem that croatia might have is playing with a false sense of confidence. The Euros are going to be a good indication of their growth. If they can get far in the tourney then some of the lessons learned would materialize and add to their growth as a team. If they do beat England in the 2010 WC Qualif then "power shifting" would have indeed taken place. But the Croats need to show way more consistency to be considered elite like an Italy or an England
