@siliconsurf I've never had any problems with Sprint. I think their customer service is awesome! I upgraded to the EVO 8 months ahead of my contract expiration and they gave me full credit on my next bill. I pretty much got my Evo for $100 plus tax.

The wife and I have both owned iPhones for several years, but when one of our daughters bought an Evo and we had a close look, we were sold. We dropped our contracts with AT&T, said "good bye" to expecting at least 4 dropped calls a day, and sold our iPhones on Ebay. We are very happy with our new Evos and have never looked back!

For the record, I am an EE and my last career move took me into one of the largest Sprint markets. I helped design and build out that system. From inside information I know, Sprint had only one competitor that came close - Verizon. Sprint has great coverage/speed, but poor customer service. Almost never dropped calls.

The manager at the Sprint store told me that the extra $10 a month was NOT for 4G but is actually charged because of how much more data you use on this phone compared to other smartphones. He had both the HTC Hero and the Evo and used twice as much data with the evo in 2 weeks than he used for the Hero in one billing cycle.

Despite the phone coming in a box that looks like something you would microwave Ramen noodles in.... This phone is phenomenal !! It is lighting fast when browsing the net, gives you multiple home screens to customize with widgets and apps to your liking, plus it has those "little things" that makes a phone a good phone in my opinion. If I'm not mistaken, I think she implied that to use the wifi/wireless tethering feature, you'd have to have unlimited data for $30 a month. Makes good sense, since the data required for your phone to act as a portable wireless modem is a lot more than the avg smart phone usage.

This a lot better than what's available in Canada, where unlimited data is not really available. The closest thing is unlimited data within the greater toronto area, for $35.

@AaronH9111 I have Sprint and I pay $69.99 per month. That includes 450 anytime minutes, unlimited mobile to mobile (any cell provider), unlimited data & text (night minutes start at 7pm). With the Evo there's an extra $10 added to that price for the 4G network, whether you have 4G in your area or not, but the overall plan price is still cheaper than the top two providers (Verizon and AT&T).

They have other plans but I do fine with the plan I have - I never go over mins.
