Makes me feel like I should get married too, just so I can have this tune at my wedding. But then I think: Are you out of your mind?! Getting married?! Hey! Cancel that priest! I can listen and enjoy this anyway right?
He is the most astonishingly talented musician. i LOVE his music. Actually, I breathe his music like air. Other music I listen to, and I enjoy, but his music is music that I experience as much as I listen to. It's music for the brain, and the heart and soul, not just for the ears. And, I love that after so many years of playing, he is still nice to his fans. He remains very grounded and down to earth, and just so damn humble.
@srvaughan2 : Steve owns land out west near the reservations and is good friends with many of the local Indian nation peoples there, it was most likely a gift. Why the criticism??
Had this for my processional at my wedding 10/30/10. My ex roommate and he's brother were the only ones to recognize Steve Morse they thought it was awesome that I used it.....
He's such a spectacular guitarist that I think people often neglect the fact that he's also one of the most talented composers alive today. He is like a modern day Bach, which is not surprising since he obviously loves and has studied Bach.
Like John Petrucci said " Just when you think your learning guitar , you discover someone like Steve Morse"..
I honestly cant come up with anybody off the top of my head with Steve Morse's versatility in different cultural music stylings.. Jimmy Page.. Eric Johnson.. maybe....
Probably because his music is too complex for the 95% of people who are "Passive Listeners". Musicians have listening skills much further developed. That's why we dig what he does.
I tell you, my wife who's a classical listener, she even likes Morse man! LOL. I think you're right. He hits the higher tastes more. It would be a shame to see him make any compromises. He's simply unique, very spiritual and musical.
@Hagopn1 My mother is a classical guitarist(with talent beyond my own) and when I 1st discovered what a great guitarist he is, I showed her his 8 1/2 minute solo, which she didn't quite get... showed her him playing classical pieces lice Jesu' and she's hooked! He really does appeal to other musicians, they can appreciate his talent.
I can't either, man (why he isn't more popular). He's really a great musician, overall musician, with a very unique perspective. IMHO, he's the lead man in the blending of rock, jazz, country, celtic, etc.... Listen to this tune, obviously Scottish nostalgia, beautifully done, something that can even draw non-rock listeners. This guy should be revered highly.
@TheMaskwa : In guitar cicles, he is very popular. He was banned from thr reader's poll for bet guitarists in Guitar Player magazine (or it may have been Guitar World) for winning that title 5 years in a row. He is a consumate profesional and basically "writes his own ticket" (i.e he does not allow record co.'s to dictate his career) the guy ha been the lead guitarists for Deep Purple longer than Ritchie Blackmore has! aside fromhis solo,Dreggs work & being a prof. pilot !!
@hazor777 Plus, in my mind (as I did not have the pleasure to met him) he is one of the most straight forward guys i ever seen..not sign of selfprotagonism whatsoever
@Tuscopa : Ive met him before & listened to several interviews with him & it seems to me he is like the this person who has a unique ability to shift left & right brain mode at will or maintain an equilibrium with both: very analytical and detail oriented, but very creative and expressive too,...And a real nice guy to boot!

This is allot harder to play than it sounds. Check out my "attempt" at playing this.

@carvetop01 Yours is a nice performance as well. While not the virtuoso that Steve is, you've definitely hit the spirit of the piece spot on.
Hagopn1 1 year ago
@Hagopn1 ,
Virtuoso is an excellent way to describe Steve. Very few can do what he does.
Thanks for listening.
Cheers,
