I actually had this game on the Trash-80 CoCo and missed it when I moved on to an Atari 8-bit. Had no idea it was on the platform till recently. Then again I didn't have a tape drive so...
Thanks for posting this; brought back some good memories. In 1983, my dad brought home an Apple ][+ along with two games: Canyon Climber and Zork I. That started me on my path to becoming a software engineer. :)
I hope that was a gratifying outlet of your petty anger, little boy.
Now, shall we just forget this snide little comment and move on? It's not worth the energy getting pissed off over an immature juvenile's ranting.... :)
Gosh, I just found this wonderful piece of memorabilia when I googled "Canyon Climber".
I was just remembering the games I played when I was a kid back in the 80's so I decided at the spur of the moment to look it up... thanks for the replay of the game that a rare few of us found so challenging back then!
But I gotta ask this: I never could figure out the whole point of making it to the last level to get your ass rammed by a mountain goat. WTF?
More than 25 years later I still remember everything about this game perfectly, yet I now can't learn anything new without forgetting it within a day. Sigh.
Awesome. This game from my childhood is what I've based my name on for most of online accounts and email accounts (for the past 10 years). And up until this moment, I never knew anyone else that remembers this game.
I had a vague recollection of the game. I only remembered the first level with the goats and the dynamite. We had this game on cassette, so we didn't play it as often. I had to look through a huge catalogue of games just to find the right one.
Now if someone would only post a run-through of Sands of Egypt so I could finally see how it is solved!

Donkey Kong predated this, at least in the arcade. I played this until Atari managed to get a version of DK for the 800. Good memories.

This was a great substitute for Donkey Kong. Not nearly as fun or as memorable though. Hell, I've even forgotten about it until now.
