  • Can't help but compare the three, but I honestly really don't enjoy the singing on this track, and WT are one of the more 'operatic' metallish bands that I can deal with, but this just really isn't very good. Had potential but to compare it to a great cover I like by a similar band: Stream of Passion covered 'Street Spirit' by Radiohead and made it their own, this just takes a very good song and does an average cover of it without any real talent or skill involved. Kinda gutted really :(.

  • Comment removed

  • @KayonnaAmeana I don't think the singer has no talent, I think that in this song she has let me down on my opinion of her. I do usually enjoy her music, just not in this song unfortunately. I agree, civil discussion is always better, and I'm glad you took it that way :). I think it's easier to sing Kate's style with less talent than it is to sing operatic style, the vocals are much harder. But considering I can reach this vocal range (and I'm male), I just kinda expected a bit better :(.

  • @Jouzykinz I Sing opera, i may not be famous but i know alot about music. Even though Sharron is a Soprano 1 singer i never actually considered her a opera style singer. A symphonic metal yes but opera know, even though she does bring high notes into play. I think there is a heavy diff in the two, but i also went to school for it. I love Wt don't get me wrong and i some what agree with you but i think its more of the music in the song that is lazy not actually Sharron. Idk opinion, your cool.

  • @Jouzykinz have you heard Kate's voice? I mean seriously. No offence to anyone but she isn't that great of a singer. For the 80's yes but as a singer, Kate voice is kind of not good in her song either. This cover is well done considering the original. To say no skill was involved is just silly, and you must know nothing about music.

  • @musiclover1998ify Can you read? I ask this because I don't think you can, or you don't understand qualifiers. If I paint you a pretty little picture maybe you will understand better. "Average cover", "Real talent". These things don't indicate that I think this song is without any talent, they indicate that I think there is a lack of it when there shouldn't be. And know nothing about music? Horrible insult since you have no idea where on the scale of absolute beginner --> chopin I am. Try again.

  • @musiclover1998ify HAHa i just realized reading your comment made me say yes Shawn!! damn you To hell. i need to stop talking to you!! Anyways. i like Kate's voice so idk if i can fully agree with you but i somewhat do. oh and also made me say considering. arggh influenced my comments.

  • Personally i hate when people are comparing placebo's version with this one. They aren't event he same sound. get the fk over it seriously. its an opinion thats its. your words are not gonna change anyone's opinion so why bother. i mean fk i hate placebo's cover of this song but i'm not trying to argue with people about it. if you do not enjoy this cover then go find another and stop bitching at people for something you cannot control.

  • @KayonnaAmeana Just so I'm reading this right.. you want to be able to give your opinion, but others can't give theirs? I agree when it's people trying to influence other people's opinions, but this reads as if you're having a go at MadekCarax below you. Apologies if I got it wrong, but that's how it reads.

  • @Jouzykinz i never ever said people don't have the right to give their opinion. so please don't put words that were never said in my mouth. i just said people should just get the fk over it and if they don't enjoy it then move on. i said that their opinion is not gonna change anyone who likes this better opinion and continue to argue with people. oh and no its wasn't towards maekcarax. i have listen to this song alot since it was posted and notice it. this is just the first time i said anything

  • @KayonnaAmeana opinions are opinions i guess. Nothing you can do is just listen to what you love and don't worry if others like it. As long as you do then why even make a issue out of it and comment on something you cannot control either.Just my opinion though.

  • Meh, I prefer Placebo's cover over WT's cover...

  • Sharon is a great head banger. :D

  • This band is my favorite band of this era!!!

  • Yay! now we get a little peek at what happens at their concerts. lol

  • this is one of their best ;)

  • I admit it I came here just to compare this version to the original, although I believe it's not so right fulling the comments with comparisons, but I just can't help it. I hated this version, sharon could sing way better than that, it's kinda annoying. Every cover of kate bush could never reach her own perfection, always to my mind.

  • I didn't kwon the original was so shity... But Kate Bush seems like a good composer.

  • Way better than Placebo's cover...Not as great as the original, but I still love it.

  • The video and the song of WT is astonishing!!! But only when you have never heard and seen the original by Kate Bush. I iz not approvez.

  • seriously stop arguing what version you like the best just enjoy the friggin music, all versions are great in their own way.

  • Love Kate and WT <3

  • This is the only song that can make me cry everytime I hear it

  • I've heard this version before Placebo's and the original. I really loved it, and now when I've heard another versions, I love them all! This is just a great song and no matter who plays it :)

  • I prefer Placebos cover better.

  • I prefer this version over the placebo and katesw

  • Oh My God. I'm am stunned. One of the BEST versions I've EVER heard!

  • I love within tempation!

  • I want to meet her

  • fuck.placebo 8 mill views and WT only 150 thousand, from which a half are mine

  • so I have a very different taste, because here's what I think:

    Placebo->Within_Temptation->Kate_Bush

  • Within Temptation rule!!! And Kate Bush is a goddes!! it's simple :)

  • I like this song more than the original.. the one of placebo is a little bit boring and I dont care if everyone hates me but this song has the type of music I like, Within Temptation is the best!!!

  • The original song is waaay better. If this song was more softer and without too much of the high tone it could of been better. :/

  • I think Within Temptation did okay with Kate Bush's song. But all in all no one can compare to the original. I have to say though that Placebo's version makes it deeper and more meaningful.

  • I thought that this is original heh...

  • I know quite a few people don't like this song but I don't understand why. I think this is just as good as the original if not then better. I could listen to this all day

  • i love within temptation, but this cover does absolutely no justice to the original or sharon's gorgeous voice

  • I actually like this version, I love Placebo and WT's equally. Placebo makes it feel deep while WT makes it feel magical...If you hate the video, then don't watch it

  • This cover have a most better than orginal accomplishment Kate Bush.

  • I know Placebo covered it, but it's a million times better than this version. Makes a more meaningful song.

  • Better than Placebo (who I really like) but not a patch on Kate's original. One of the best songs ever!

  • I prefer Kate Bush's original and Placebo's version over this.

  • Ok where is the OFF button ???????????

After listening to this you cant make the pain going away by taking a placebo.

You defenitly need the original !!

  • I actually liked this rendition of the song, although I prefer Placebo's version above all others. (I'm normally into hard-rock and metal).

  • It's okay, but I much prefer previous versions. I think this killed it a bit....

don't get me wrong, i love within temptation, but nobody can do everything perfect....

  • This is a good lesson in how to ruin an amazing song. I can't put into words how much I despise this version.

  • Good vocal, but no so alive as Kate's. Entertaining and genius .... see the difference.

  • @larkysnake well they don't wanna be better than Kate...they just wanna play the song in there own style and respect Kate in general by covering this song.

  • @Co0kiemonstah

Pity, that they don't wanna be better. Pity, that nobody can (it's not their fault, though). People should strive for more, and this time, our time, unfortunately lacking geniuses. We want to testify genius because it's so inspiring for us, it gives reason to live and sets an example to achieve. And looking around we see just a shallow, superficial entertainment. I just wanted to say that we should cherish something deeply genuine of our music heritage amid copies of it.

  • @larkysnake music doesn't have to be a competition,or more correct would be to say that it can take any form and have any purpose besides perfectionizing

  • When did this come out? O_o

  • At first I thought Sharon's voice was really annoying here but now I got used to it AND I FUCKING LOVE IT

  • Good artist, bad cover.

  • Comment removed

  • uhhh, does no one else find this cover awful? the original is such a beautiful, unique song... this sounds like shit and her band looks like a bunch of f**s.

  • OMG i love this song and i love Within Temptation BUY

she should have stayed away from this song:(

  • 85 people cannot run up that hill.

  • Dette er den verste cover jeg noensinne har hørt i mitt liv.

  • ??? what is up with everyone and that bar of makeup across the eyes???

Tarja has it, Ke$ha has it, Sharon has it, and numerous other artists and celebrities have it, is it some sort of symbolism or something or what???

  • kocham i kochac bede

  • Do you want to feel how it feels?

Do you want to know that it doesn't hurt me?

  • Comment removed

  • I just love the beginning T_T

  • Wooooow. LIKE.

  • Her voice sounds horrible in this song.. Well, as always. I'm getting a head ache of it.

  • I really like the music, but I have to admit this is not her greatest singing... Kind of annoying really.

  • within temptation sucks...

... but not in this life.

  • this version is too poppy...I think they tried to make it too much like Kate Bush's version. I like Placebo's way better...love how haunting it sounds

  • Do You remeber times when this video was available only after logging? The world becomes more liberal nowadays...

  • hahah I got them! once she is singing to the microphone which is standing and then she has got it with the other hand ( when the angel is coming)

    xD

  • i don t get this strange video

  • dont like it, placebo's version is the best one

  • This is the worst cover of any song i've ever heard in my whole life, period, holy fuck its so bad i wanna stick needles in my ears.

Kates original is great, placibos cover is great, this is like a bunch of retards got into a recording studio.

jesus fucking christ its so bad

  • to me this is a song that should have a very slow and dramatic tempo, this is just a bit too fast paced and just really doesnt fit the emotion of the lyrics....not my favorite version....not by a long shot....however, i do not hate it.

  • I THINK THAT HER VOICE DOESN'T MATCH IN THIS SONG ITS VERY ANNOYING I THINK THE MUSIC IS GREAT

  • This song is so passionate. I love Sharon's voice so much. D: Find it hard not to belt out this song when playing it. <3

  • Like the cover, hate the video :)

  • Good version, but I still think placebo's one is the best...

  • Best version of all!!! And best video (Placebo has a good one too...),Period,hands down!!! WT!!!

  • Comment removed

  • love the music, hate the voice, though I'm a fan. Just this one song...

  • @Mopsopia - Hate the voice? LOL You have bad tastes, then. The only thing I don't understand is why this is a Christian video? I could've sworn this wasn't a Christian band.

  • @YourDarkAccomplice Sharon Den Adel is Catholic, despite the gothic trappings of her band.

  • @TheJokerReturns - I think the song is just Christian. But I've heard rumors of her being Pagan. And had reason to believe it. Ever heard her song Memories? "I pray to the gods, let him stay.."

Either way, Catholics and "Gothic" go hand in hand. It's a classic. ("Gothic" meaning the TRUE meaning of the word, not the famous fad that's ruined it.) And the Catholics are more closely connected to the Occult since that's what Christianity was based on. So, it's not too far off in a way. *shrug*

  • @YourDarkAccomplice Bitch when you mix Catholicism, the remais of pagan rituals, with Christianity, the teachings of the lord of the earth Jesus Christ, wash yourself 17 times first...

  • @Heitor619 - Haha, I take it you were filled with your "holy" spirit when you posted that crappy comment, right? hahaha Pathetic. Your mother did drugs if you female dogs can type. Get an education, commoner. xD

  • Comment removed

  • @Heitor619 - Aww, because I know about history and don't deny facts, you call me a Jew? Haha, no wonder people are leaving your religion. You call me a Jew who deserves to be burned by hitler, but here you are worshiping a dead zombie Jew on a cross. Tsk tsk.. typical Abrahamic god follower, lover of contradictions.

  • Comment removed

  • He´s not a Jew he´s the King of men,the jews deny him and didn´t believed in him, cause they were so arrogant, like atheists are,but someday you will play for your sins and your lack of faith in the son of God and to Holy God himself...

  • @Heitor619 - The Jews have a right to deny him. In their original bible he doesn't prove he's the messiah. If you read the original bible (untampered by the nuns and pope) you'd see it's a completely different book. If you read Jeremiah 10:1-5, you'd see Christmas was taken from the Pagans. So was Easter (bunny laying eggs has nothing to do with Jesus.. lol!) So that's why the Jews denied the Pagan practice of human sacrifice to appease an angry god. I'm not even Jewish and I know this. xD !

  • @YourDarkAccomplice Praise thee! ;) on 2nd thought, that'd be sacrilege.. but anyway, well spoken! ;) Organized religion, in general i might add, is nothing but glorified dogma, twisted & perverted to suit the will of the clergy & papacy ~ who in the end, are only human & as sinful as every1 else. However, I do believe in a Higher Being but not in human ritual fallacies like xmas or easter. As you say, it's all Pagan in origin, spurred on by Constantine to unite the divided factions in his day.

  • @sirGiedion - Well, I've no problem celebrating the Equinoxes of our planet (Like Easter and Winter Solstice) as I myself am Pagan (which just means I was born of Earth and plan on returning back to the Earth, so in the mean time, I'm more than happy to celebrate life and existence itself. It's just not so pleasant being looked down upon by people who condemn you just because you spoke factual history. ;)

Thanks for your kind words. Happy Weekend!

  • @YourDarkAccomplice yes, born of the Earth, and will return to the Earth.. or 'from dust we came and to dust we shall return'.. it all does sound familiar doesn't it.. ;) ... whatever you believe, if it makes you a good person in the end that is alright by me... adieu!

  • @YourDarkAccomplice Equinoxes, solstices and seasons are events triggered more or less directly by celestial bodies.

Our bodies are celestial ones; we are luminous beings, beings of light. Our bodies consist of luminous fibres. We were born of our mothers, and our mothers out of Spirit (Abstraction, interaction B/N God = Infinite Intelligence & Us = Infinite Energy). Shamans' terminology, nagualism. We are born of SPIRIT, the Mother Earth and soil gives us earthly strength.

  • @deshadower - Poetically stated. Thanks you for sharing.

  • @YourDarkAccomplice That's more than just poetry. Shamans actually could train themselves and be able to perceive human beings as luminous eggs (eggs of energy/light) at will.

BTW. Jesus is "a" son of God, an angel, an extraterrestrial human from planet Erra, from Pleiades. An incarnated angel that tuned himself to cosmic "Christ" vibration/consciousness. (Jesus = angel, Christ = vibration of love.)

Genesis 6 - "sons of God" (angels, Ouranos) and daughters of men (Gaia).

  • @deshadower - There is always more than poetry than the mere word. People like Bards always knew the value of words and secrecy. I just prefer to avoid speaking of beliefs as such things are very controversial (as you can see from the display above just by my mere mentioning of a question.) Personally, I'm aware of the spirituality of "the bible" but I don't base my sacred beliefs from it. It's like talking about Greek Mythology to a Christian. There's nothing there, even if you respect it.

  • Comment removed

  • @deshadower - I don't understand your question as it took an ancient group that pre-dated your Judeo-Christian beliefs and generalized it. *shrug* Sharing is a basic principle. It comes with Divine Love. What's your point?

  • @YourDarkAccomplice I don't understand what you're talking about at all.

    What's your point?

What "my" Judeo-Christian beliefs? I am that I am, and I am closest to Buddhist beliefs (karma, reincarnation, life as a problem/task etc.).

Second set of beliefs is Toltec seers, Don Juan teachings.

So what "my" Judeo-Christian beliefs are you talking about? I know that Jesus was an incarnated angel, that's all, and his kin are going to decloak their spaceships and land here soon

  • @deshadower - You stated your beliefs, and I kindly asked that we keep our beliefs to ourselves. Since you believe in the Judeo-Christian concepts of the Messiah Jesus (in whatever form, a demi-god, alien, messenger, whatever) it falls under the category. But many people just see him as just a mythological figure like Dionysus, or Hercules. Which isn't wrong to believe in either. But like I said, I prefer not to discuss personal beliefs. It's supposed to be sacred. I'm sorry you don't understand

  • Comment removed

  • @deshadower - And it's sad that you assume you think you know what I believe instead of acknowledging (or better yet trusting in your "Divine Belief..") that we're all different and have different theories. It is the way Nature intended things. Does your Creator oppose that?

  • @YourDarkAccomplice You can disbelieve whatever you wish. Law of Confusion, Law of Free Will.

    Which creator do you mean?

Yahweh, Lucifer and Quetzalcoatl (and others, such as Ra that contributed The Law of One) are Sub-Creators, or Collective Souls.

Most Terrans are Yahweh's incarnations. His Own incarnations. Yahweh's is *a* jealous God as you know.

And the One God, The Eagle made it that way that nobody of us grasps the *whole* truth, all of Eagle emanations.

  • @deshadower - You're a disbeliever yourself. You think because YOU believe in Alien Jesus from outter space (plaeide or whatever) that others are deluded for not thinking like you. Even after I complimented your (now I see FAKE) poetic words and expressed courtesy to your "out there" comments, you're angry because I choose not to PARTAKE in it. That's called BIGOTRY. And guess what bigot? MOST Christians would laugh in your face for messing up their sacred teachings and religion. Disbeliever xD

  • @YourDarkAccomplice I don't think at all like that. Why should I? Your intuition missed it completely.

I care little for your believe in, you can believe whatever.

I had taken issue only with you following routines - routines and rituals such as Easter or Christmas. They have nothing to do with solstices and equinoxes. Nothing to do with the Earth.

These routines harm the spirit. Only Mother-Earthly practices (burying somebody alive, talking to plants) etc. are beneficial.

  • @deshadower - You mean the same way you "intuition" missed my compliment to your sentiment (cause it wanted MORE credit, even though I asked you to keep sacred beliefs sacred - aka private.) I have my own concepts and they're no less valid than yours. So let it be. If you truly trust your "Higher Power" then you'd let it be. Don't spam this video any more than has been done and message me if you insist that you want something clarified.

  • @YourDarkAccomplice There's nothing sacred about spoken or unspoken beliefs. I will avoid to indulge in being a master or keeping beliefs secret (sacred, private = secret). It seems to be just self-indulgence.

I know that body came from woman's womb, and it may at the end, most probably, rest in the ground.

These comments speak also to others, those who read them, besides you. Would you deprive these people of reading them? You can let them decide to ignore or analyse them.

  • @deshadower - You are clearly a charlatan. You deny my request to NOT spam a video with your irrelevant religious comments and instead message me if you're *that* desperate, but you instead you prefer to preach your pious clap-trap as if it matters. Notice I have *not* spoken ONCE about my beliefs. Why desecrate it by cheaply talking to strangers online who are not even interested (like you're doing)? Clearly you are not as enlightened as you'd like to pretend. That's what makes you a charlatan.

  • @YourDarkAccomplice

Your judgement will be returned to you.

And to quote you: "as I myself am Pagan (which just means I was born of Earth and plan on returning back to the Earth)".

So you stated your beliefs. you stated them.

So you SPOKEN about your beliefs.

And your judgement, your insulting judgement and accusation of me being a charlatan, will be returned to you. Karma. We'll see who we'll be laughing then, I forgive you nothing.

  • @deshadower you're pathetic

  • @CalypsoEclipse And you're lovely.

  • @deshadower - I have to agree. People who make true observations against charlatans are *very* lovely.

  • @YourDarkAccomplice What charlatans? I never claimed to be a Christian, or anybody else for that matter. I am that I am, I am presence, and nothing more or less.

But you will pay for your insults and calling me a charlatan. You will pay to the last cent.

  • @deshadower - You claim enlightenment when you don't even have respect for the people who come to watch this video. Of course you're not Christian (even though you believe in Jesus) a lot of Christians would hate you for what you said. That's not the point.

  • @YourDarkAccomplice What? Where did I claim enlightenment? Where? Please show me the direct quote of what I said. I claimed it nowhere.

  • @deshadower - Yeah yeah yeah, yapping about your religion and calling people "unbelievers" for having a different opinion doesn't make you a bigot. Whatever you tell yourself. xD

  • @YourDarkAccomplice It was you who speaks of "disbelievers". Sorry, Mr. UnBigot.

  • @deshadower - Really?

  • @YourDarkAccomplice Really.

  • @deshadower - Really?

  • @YourDarkAccomplice Really.

  • @deshadower - Really?

  • @YourDarkAccomplice Really.

  • @deshadower - Really?

  • @YourDarkAccomplice Really.

  • @deshadower you're dumb bitches talking about religion. You must have no life if you can spam a video w/ no regards to other people. You should be blocked and maybe go outside to discover it.

  • @SidheRockz And you're lovely beings. YourDarkAccomplice started talking about pagans, disbelievers, charlatans, I have nothing to do with these.

And better yet, he believes that Easter and Christmas have something to do with the Mother Earth. She has nothing to do with petty human traditions and bullshit routines called "celebrations" and "festivals". Indeed She has nothing to do with this human bull.

Haha, religion as a topic is better than your cosmetics, clothes and other crap.

  • @SidheRocks - I agree, I was doing that to test something in her. Hehe and it worked.

  • @YourDarkAccomplice You just invented an excuse of psychological "analysis" and "tests" in order to cover up your embarrassment.

Seriously, I know everything about you.

I once was into this stuff too, Christmas and Easter and other bullshit.

Then I discovered that I'm wasting my time on these useless routines.

So I just laugh at you and your cover-ups of your embarrassment... it's so funny actually to see somebody copy these hypocritical practices.

  • @deshadower awww I'm so flattered by your fake compliment. Still doesn't change the fact that you're a moron for spamming a video. Everyone is a "lovely being." announcing it like you're trying to dig your way out of a hole doesn't make you any more special. Get a hobby.

  • @SidheRockz Spamming a video. No. Spamming its comment section Ms. Lady. I already got hobbies between jobs. :-) One of them is called challenging people on YT with a sensible reason for it, without trolling or anti-trolling, lol.

  • @deshadower if your hobby is semantics and you tell yourself to feel better that it's "challenging people on YT" then truly, you have no life. :-)

  • @SidheRockz I have many lives. Too many. And too little peace. And yes, semantics is a nice hobby, too... a way to perfect and shape one's perfection. Words, deeds... even emotions and thoughts.

And thank you for the comment...

  • @deshadower That's a pretty way of saying you have no life. Most trolls don't. :)

  • @SidheRockz And that's a pretty way of generalising people. Quite a few trolls have life, sometimes they turn on people just because somebody said one thing or another, they become "anti-trolls" (of their own self-importance), or they simply to do that for fun even if they have better things to do.

And that's interesting that you filter people by how much they socialise as if it really mattered. Professional life seems to be more important than the social one.

  • @YourDarkAccomplice test what? the fact that she or he has no life? good job. now go do something more productive with your life

  • i like this version better

  • @Mopsopia Ditto.

I love Within Temptation, but in my opinion, this isn't a song they should have covered.

  • This is.. shit.. Kate Bush & Placebo versions are totally different but great! WT just ruined this song.

  • Actually, sharon's voice doesn't go too bad with it. I don't like WT that much tbh, but this song is pretty neat. But nothing beats the original (MAYBE the version by Gregorian, it gives me chills...)

  • awesome! <3 better than Kate Bush & Placebo :]

  • <3

  • cazzo se fa cagare!!!

  • 00:54 No Sharon it's a freaking Weeping Angel, keep looking at it.

  • holy this this so bad it hurts

  • I'm a metalhead, but I actually don't like what they've done to this... Gregorian and Placebo's covers work better for me.

  • Love this version! And love Sharon too ;) Soooooo hot and talented!!

  • Son diferentes estilos, pero igual es buena, por que ambas son congruentes con las bandas que los interpretan, a mi me gustan ambas versiones!!!!

  • My 3 favourite versions of Running up that hill:

    1) Kate Bush (The original)

    2) Within Tempation

    3) Placebo

  • placebo just made the song sound gay and breathy you can't beat kate bush gregrian's cover was great though

  • The greatest version.

  • This version is 1000000 times better than Placebos

  • I want to have her red dress. It is so beautiful
