Terry Scott's finest performance, always thought he was underrated and in this movie he shines as the perfect example of the frustrated husband with the annoying wife, hilarious and one of the best Carry On's, never get tired of watching it.
The part when this chap regains control of his life, holiday and marriage later on in this film is the most satisfying, brilliant and stress relieving film moments ever!
I frequently think Richard and Hyacinth Bucket were based on the Potters. There are many similarities. The scene when they are standing in front of the house and Peter puts his boller hat back in the house and Harriet waves at the neighbor especially reminds me of Richard and Hyacinth.
This is a classic Carry On scene. Brilliant writing and hilarious performances. "A chap brought round a pound of opium, we smoked it, and spent the afternoon in a harem!!!" Just brilliant - and that laugh!!!
What a great comic device, the overbearing or controlling wife and her downtrodden husband who eventually finds his manhood and takes control away from his wife. You see it quite often in British films and television.
Love these films. I used to work beside a gorgeous looking girl who laughed like that. Her only flaw! Terry Scott is a scream. There will never be another team like the Carry On gang.
i love the carry ons that is the funniest laugh i`ve ever heard, i think she was called betty marsden, sadly underused in the carry ons in my opinion.
She was my grandmother (and yes her name was Betty Marsden) I have to say her real laugh wasn't like that thank goodness!! (although not terribly far off..)
her laugh was brilliant. me and my mates always resort to trying to do it when we've had a few beers. she was sadly underused, but her memory lives on most friday nights. :-)
Excellent. Perhaps the last best Carry On. After 1970 they rapidly went downhill, only Convenience, Matron and Abroad are much good after this.

The rolling of the eyes Peter gives is classic and represents how long he's put up with his insufferable wife.
