Nice job, very nice track, Steve Vai is an inspiration couldn't choose a better picture :) Checkout my video response some of those guys preacticed the response I did totally improvise it :)
My improv on this backing track garnered intense amounts of applause and adulation from the audience of the popular, dark, alcohol-sodden club that exists in my mind. This is propulsive!
wow, i think this is my 7th time in a row playing... everything was awsome. The feel of the track, my delay, overdrive and reverb settings, just me n my guitar, and a picture of Vai watchin me didnt make me uncomfortable at all if not more inspired. Best fkn track ever. Wow that was good and i got another 3 hours of spare time on my hands. This is the life.
wooooooohooooo I played this with guitar and ok ( I 've been playing it for only 6 months) but then I switched to Hammond Organ (been playing it for 15 years) AND OMG YEEEAAA I CAME :D
@cwhitsy - G minor works too, especially if the v chord is a Gm9 - emphasizing the A; other scales that seem to work F dorian, G phrygian, as well as Eb major over the Cm7 and Bb mixolydian over the Gm five chord. But, keeping it simple and straightforward, both G pentatonic minor and C pentatonic minor work really well as both scales have notes common to both keys. The only difference between the two keys is A in one is an Ab in the other. Definitely a good sounding track!
@resmoore Are you able to explain this a bit clearer to the idiots out here? I get the C and Gmin Pentatonic part but the Dorian and other modes mean little to me other than Dorian I believe starts on the 2nd note of a scale. Thanks.
@BlkUnk Roku genn no 8 fret kara dorian matawa pentatonic. Sore dakede jyuubunndesu! Ato wa tamashii wo komete!!!!!!!! Good luck! Just remember start from 8 fret on the 6th string. Dorian or pentatonic. Are you American or Japanese? I'm confused, haha.
Awesome feeling track. When you just want to sit back and groove and not have a worry in the world, this is the track you solo to. I love how it doesn't force the 5th either. You can play with a major or minor 5th and know it isn't going to hurt the backing track.
Iv been having guitar lessons for 6 months now, me and my guitar teacher done a recording in his studio using this backing track, using the scales I've learned, feel free to check it out on my page (mofo4sholivecouk-jam to C minor backing track), all comments welcome!! :)
This backing track is one of my favorites, along with one that is called "80s power ballad" which I did a video with, and put the link in the video for anyone that wants to use it.
@ASFM11 starting on the low e string it two notes per string going like this bye the freat E, 8 ---11 , A 8-----10, D 8----10, G 8-----10, B 8----11, E 8------11.. hope this helps
Simple pentatonic seems to fit this best imho. Really really great. Love how I develop more speed as I really get that "creamy, layd-back" feeling going. Awesome.
love the track, only thing i dislike about it, is that its not THAT prominant when it hits the 5 chord at the turn around, but other then that its a great track hey?
Im sorry guys, it seemed a bit boring to me. SORRY, i know ima get flamed for telling you my opinion. BUT, however, it still was somewhat fun to play.

@resmoore I agree. generally just playing around with minor modes. P.S. the 9 is the sweetest note ever!!
smartwood11 1 year ago
@resmoore try making a one of the common tones so your playing dorian on the cmin part the Ab is a great passing tone

@maccagrabme If you don't understand modes yet just think that Dorian is the minor pentatonic, but add in the 6th and the 9th.
