Wow what an idiot. It was a loaded question, of course he is not happy the guy had 30 bullets, he wished "that specific guy" had no bullets, if he had said yes, the asshole would have yelled "then your glad those people are dead" and cut him out of the topic, if he had said no then he would have spun it so that he was for limiting magazine loads. Gun Control people have no idea what the real world is like and have never been in any kind of dangerous situation.
How to arms manufactures make more money selling higher capacity magazines? It seems to me they would make more money if there was a capacity limit, as they would sell more.
Obviously, O'donnell can't do counterfactual reasoning very well. Had this happened during an assault weapon ban, we CANNOT conclude that the shooter wouldn't have had a 33 rounder. Just because there's a law there doesn't mean it would stop the offender. It's illegal to shoot members of congress, that didn't stop him from doing so. It's illegal to shoot little girls in a crowd, that didn't stop him. Had crystal meth been illegal, then the meth-head wouldn't have gone on that rampage! Please.
I saw your video. It is no wonder that you are on youtube with only 28K views after 9 months. It is foolish to think that a US ban on guns or magazines will limit their availability to criminals or those inciting terror. That is like saying crime is illegal therefore there will be no crime. How's that working out?
The assualt weapons ban never stopped people from getting high cap mags. From 94-04 you couldn't buy NEW highcap magazines. Any highcap mag made prior to 94 could still be bought.
Gun control works? Well then, I guess if you are Anders Behring Breivik, then yes I guess gun control DOES work! I mean, how else could have he pulled off those Norway terrorist attacks if more citizens were armed?
@EastTimor1 Every year in the USA thousands of Anders Behring Breiviks go on gun shooting spree. Did you not see the statistics above? Norway gun deaths are almost at zero, even including the sickening shooting lately. I think you are the one asleep, but you are in good company in the United States of Amnesia.
The ironic thing is that the places in America where the crime rates are the highest and mass murders more common, also tend to have the most restrictive gun laws. Do the research and learn instead of sniffing craft glue. That stuff is non-toxic anyways, it won't do you any good.
Outlawing guns is not the solution, unless you want to inhibit law abiding citizens from defending themselves, because that will be the result. I know who the sleepy one is, and it's not me.
@EastTimor1 You make some good points about glue sniffing, but you're missing the point about guns.
If guns made everyone safer it would be taught in schools. Children would carry guns in the school bags to 'keep them safe'. Pensioners would carry guns in a Clint Eastwood style hoister. You would be taught quick-draw'.
Many American gun owners don't carry them everywhere. In a armed-robbery or mugging do you ask them to wait, whilst you go home and get your gun?
What is your point? Lots of schools in PA have shooting clubs. Although I will admit it isn't talked enough, it is because the media does such a good job influencing people into believing guns are "evil", "scary", and "horrendous things from satan." Far from the truth...
Many people have and use conceal and carry, especially in Arizona. Not that you would know because you don't even live in America. Get your facts straight before yabbering away without any ground evidence.
@dazzagazza6969 And what for say makes you more knowledgeable on firearms than those "gun-ho" Americans that own and operate them? Seriously, put down the video games and actually learn about guns from those with real experience, not some airhead who the toughest decision she had to make was which dress to buy at the shopping mall on daddy's credit card and the guy with the, "Oh my god the world is coming to an end because Americans have 'semi-auto high capacity machine-guns'" mentality say so.
In March 1982, 25 years ago, the small town of Kennesaw – responding to a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Ill. – unanimously passed an ordinance requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun. Since then, despite dire predictions of "Wild West" showdowns and increased violence and accidents, not a single resident has been involved in a fatal shooting – as a victim, attacker or defender.
lets make the whole world out of Nerf so know one gets hurt!! it's the only way to live in a world where no one gets hurt! people die because people are assholes and kill people. the best way to stop it is let the people be armed. i own and operate several weapons. pistols, shotguns and rifles...including the so called "assault rifles" and i have never so much as had to raise my gun to a person, and hope i never do. people kill people, not weapons...
i watch these asshats just to laugh at them. i hate TYT. ok hitler, lets ban guns because that's what you suggest. then stabbings go up. lets ban knives. then beating people to death goes up. lets ban blunt objects. then coking people to death goes up. lets ban all belts, rope, and wire...people are evil and will kill who they want, when they want. armed citizens are the answer...criminals don't rob people with guns. gun free zones are a free ticket for mad men to kill. 2nd amendment..read it.
"We're not saying ban the gun" WTF Dumbass. 10 dead people would be great, but 20 or thirty is too many???????? Where do you think this leads to????? You don't see the argument because your mind is made up, and so is mine. I'll keep my guns and ALL of my magazines thank you!!! You can go without a gun and maybe the criminals will respect you for it. LOL. This is one incident, yet scores of people are attacked by armed criminals and gang bangers that don't give a shit about magazine bans.WTF
I really like how they are judging the guy for being close with the NRA for the money and then they are pumping netflix at the end of the video. I wonder how much they get for that. Watching videos sitting on your ass getting chunky and dying of heart disease kills more people in 1 year than guns do in 10 years(not counting military).
Oh so a high cap mag ban law will stop criminals from getting them illegally? Or stop them from caring 3 or more guns that only hold 10 rounds?!?! Give me a break YT's it's people that kill not guns or high capacity magazines!
I love the way if you mention that an armed citizen even has the slightest possibility of stopping an assault and socialists like Lawrence O'Donnell go ballistic. They'll say there is no way that is possible and you're dreaming to think this. However, they believe, without any doubt, that when a gunman changes magazines, he will instantly be tackled by an unarmed bystander. These people have zero credibility when it comes to armed self-defense issues and should just stick to Palin jokes.
@neverfearchrisashire, regulation did not end slavery, people with convictions and GUNS ended slavery. Lack of regulation puts ammonia in your chicken nuggets? Are you implying lack of regulation is the CAUSE of crime? Anger, hunger, stupidity, and evil cause crime. Regulate those things.
How many bullets is enough then? Why 10? 1 or 2? How many bullets do police need to carry? 4 or 5? Why would they need more bullets than a citizen to stop a threat, especially when they work in packs? Maybe a world without guns would be better. But wait, there was a world without guns just a few hundred years ago. Surely, it was a less violent world then.
6 fatalities and 13 (firearm related) injuries. A very tragic 19 casualties; which two CA legal G19's and a New York reload could also have achieved. Let's face it, "bad guys" will find ways to be "bad guys"! All the while, Joe shmuckatelli gets stuck with 10 rds when those bastards unexpectedly barge in his home packin' an "illegal" 33rd mag. Be responsible, be safe, and let's deep-6 this idea that limiting magazine capacity is the cure for sociopathic actions.
@DavidToddSchiesler The problem with not outlawing guns is that it turns arguments into homicides. Statistics don't lie - more people with guns = more murders.
@neverfearchrisishere "arguments into homicides" Really? Perhaps there are a lot of would-be murderers in the Congress then. Get yourself a copy of "More Guns Less Crime" which is written by an economist. Show me you are better than an economist when analyzing data. Perhaps you don't see the benefits of owning a gun, then you want it banned.
So more cars = more crashes = more death too.
Legalizing alcohol = more drinking and driving = more death
@ustfu Better than an economist that ignores the facts that america has 10-20 times the firearm homicide rate of most developed countries and the highest of all developed countries? Yes I would be prepared to state I'm a better statistician than him. Perhaps he should name his book accurately: More Guns More Gun crime.
@neverfearchrisishere So after reading your profile, you are from UK and also play violent games. Be careful, the game will turn you into a murderer. Or better yet, just ban all these violent games.
How do you get around 32rd magazine? Bring two fully loaded pistols, maybe more, law defeated. You can't regulate something that criminal and crazy is just going to work their way around. You'll just make it so they don't have to try as hard.
I think its funny how people on the left generally believe that because something is law, that means that no one will break it. Lets take this hi mag ban for instance. The left wants to impose the ban, saying it will prevent criminals from getting them. Yes, because every criminal follows the law, and upon realizing that it is illegal for them to have a high round mag, they will immediately drop any ideas to rob or shoot anyone, and go click coupons for food shopping.
"I blame the individual for the first 10 bullets, I blame the law for the next 21 bullets" Yes you heard it here folks, Larry here dosen't hold the psycho responsible for the 21 bullets fired after those first 10.. It isn't his fault... What an idiot.. Does this knucklehead even realize what he is saying? 10 bullets is okay.... So shooting 10 people is fine, you just cant use 31 bullets?
What an idiot.
...Who's the moron that thought O'Donnell did the 'nailing'?
with a 10 round magazine, the gun would have held 11 bullets. 13 people were injured from gunfire. there is no way one can say for certain that the same 13 people wouldn't have been injured by the same gun with 11 rounds. forget the circumstances under which he failed to quickly reload the gun (experienced shooters can reload in the time it takes to make a single shot). the circumstances would have been different if he stopped to reload after only 11 rounds. mag size means nothing here...
This guy is a complete idiot first off even if there was still a law against hi cap mags he could have made one or selected a different weapon that did allow him to op for a high cap mag and he talks about the NRA as if they scared him into taking up on there part well I'm sorry but some people do believe in our basic rights as Americans GUNS DONT KILL PEOPLE. PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE
and cars, and knives, nail files, pencils, pricks, pipes, fists, pens, tall buildings, ropes, and nearly 4 million other ways. Let's ban all those too!
We can play this game all you like, gun control does not equate to gun violence control no matter how you try to twist it. The PROBLEM is with the person, the SOLUTION is with the person.
Or, do you want to continue playing your childish game? OK, I'll humour you.
People kill people WITH knives.
People kill people WITH clubs.
People kill people WITH their hands.
People kill people WITH water.
Having fun? I am! I'm having fun laughing at a clown!
30rd ---> 10rd ---> 1rd ---> guns outlawed. That is what they are trying to do.
The next gunman might use a 10rd mag to kill 10 people. What's next? Gonna ban 10rd? Hell, how hard is it to make a 30rd mag, or even a 100rd? It just a metal box with a spring in it. It's not rocket science at all.
I highly doubt that another feel-good law would prevent any mass-shootings.
@ustfu WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU WANT GUNS LEGAL ANYWAY? HOW IS IT IA GOOD THING T HAVE PEOPLE BUYING OBJECTS WHOSE ONLY PURPOSE IN EXISTENCE IS KILLING OTHER PEOPLE? only the police and military should have them; ONLY
@bbphnix Tell us which method did Hitler use to murder millions of Jews. If you can't answer it, then you know nothing about gun politics, gun history and the purpose of owning a gun. Since you don't like guns, why don't you post a sign at your front yard saying you don't own any guns? And you said only the police and military should have guns? Do you know police do not have duty to protect you?
@bbphnix Regulation, regulation, regulation.... You need the government to tell you what you can own, inhale, ingest, blah blah blah. I told you you had the mind of a slave.
If you are saying criminals are going to obey your strict regulation. Good luck with that.
@ustfu Criminals might have guns - so your nutty neighbour you keep having fights with should have a gun for protection...
Confronting a criminal with a gun will get you shot more than it'll save you. Giving everyone guns will turn half of all first fights into a homicide.
Americas murder by gun rate - highest in the civilised world by a loooooooong way...... doesn;t this hint to you that the laws may be 'a little bit wrong'
@neverfearchrisishere You are right. Do what the police say - comply with the robbers. Let me know how it feels when the intruders rape and kill your family members in front of you and the police is only minutes away.
You are okay with criminals having guns, but not law-abiders. If laws are effective, we wouldn't need prison and police in the first place.
Well, search this "Tulsa Apartment Resident Shoots Armed Intruder" on Youtube. Your comment is based on your emotions rather than facts.
@ustfu Your bringing a gun into the situation == more chance of bad shit happening to you and your family.
Everyone having guns == more chance that argument you had in a bar gets you shot.
.
Remember that if everyone has a gun that means that your idiot neighbours all have guns..... Do you really trust all your neighbours with weapons? Are they criminals no. But everyone gets angry once in a while - how many angry people turn into murderers every year thanks to guns? MANY.
@neverfearchrisishere Perhaps you don't drive a car or even ride buses. 30,000 people get killed each year by cars. What? Ban cars? but but a car isn't designed to kill people, yet they do kill 30,000. It's my responsibility to protect myself and my family. I can't violate people's right to own a gun just because I think he is an idiot. If they are not harming me or my family,I don't give a fuck. I THINK you are an idiot and should not have the freedom of speech. Can I do that? Grow the fuck up.
@neverfearchrisishere Let me ask you one more thing? What was the reason why having the 2nd Amend. in the first place? If you can't answer it, then you know nothing about guns. Perhaps it's better for you to move to Mexico as their gun laws are much tougher than the U.S. I know you will feel safer living there.
FYI, I didn't say everyone should have a gun. If you rely on the police to protect you, it's your choice. And do yourself a favor and google "police have no duty to protect someone."
@ustfu You might ask where all the guns and money spawning the violence are coming from. That's right america. If it wasn't for its wonderful neighbour to the north Mexico would have far fewer problems.
.
2nd Amendment - because old pieces of paper can never be wrong.
@neverfearchrisishere The problem in Mexico isn't guns, but drugs, moron. Sure, let's take away the 2nd Amend and see what the Libtards will do to your 1st or 4th Amend. You probably think that freedom is really free. Hitler used gun ban to disarm all the Jews and what happened? They became defenseless and millions of them got murdered. You think there's only one Hitler in the world? There are many politicians who are control-freaks and have Hitler type of mind. Watch some history channel, kid.
@ustfu Unfortunately for you I have just got to point to any other western country to show you that the idea that freedom can be acquired without the ability to shoot everyone sight is the norm. Kid.
Gun ban allowed Holocaust... seriously, what planet are you on, If Jews had started shooting off guns Hitler would of just used it as a reason to send in the brown shirts harder and earlier - read your history, genocides have happened since ww2 where the people being culled had weapons.
@neverfearchrisishere And why didn't Hitler invade Switzerland where every household had a rifle. Search "Innocent Betrayed" on Youtube. Guns aren't the problem, but the idiots like you are. Blaming a dead object doesn't turn you into a genius.
Then why don't mass murders happen at gun shows, Switzerland, Kennesaw Georgia, and other places where law abiding citizens are armed to the teeth? Why then, do mass murders typically happen in gun free zones, like Virginia Tech, Columbine, Luby's Cafeteria, and in recent history, Norway?
Taking guns away from the citizenry was exactly the factor that lead to the Holocaust. Guns in the hands of Jews was not the problem. It was guns in the hands of a murderous government that proved to be disastrous for the Jews. Please don't tell me you're that moronic to believe that gun laws actually prevent a tyrannical government from forcing their creed down the throats of others. Tyrannical and homicidal governments have the power BECAUSE of strict gun laws.
@ustfu As a liberterian gun rights have been the hardest thing to accept, however the truth is that you can't only give freedom or individual rights on a case by case basis. Undoubtedly there are people in society that are incapable of handling the responsibility of owning a firearm and the results can be disasterous, but the results can be disaterous if will allow people to make any number of their own decisions. To believe in liberty means you need to accept that some people will abuse it.
You gained freedom from the British over 200 years ago.....and then you gave it up all over again to your fucked-up corporations and various religious zealots.
As a result, only in America could an argument about a magazine that holds ten rounds vs. thirty-one rounds even have a CHANCE at being waged, let alone given air time.
@Killzoneguy117 What the hell kind of an argument is that? I NEVER said that I think the government should stop people from producing, distributing, or imbibing certain substances. In fact, despite a deep personal opposition to drugs, I am as opposed to prohibition and war on drugs as anyone you're liable to meet. When I said, "don't tell me what I can or cannot own," I meant it in a way that only an anarchist can mean it.
Even if people want to use meth, I have no right to violently stop them.
@DavidoftheWest Well things like Guns are different from Drugs. Drugs can only kill the person using them? Guns kill other people. I'm not saying that the government should ban guns but at least limit the sale to whoever can be trusted with them. I might trust you with a gun but what about some racist, trailer park, redneck Christian Supremacist? The government needs to make sure that the people who have Guns aren't the same people who might shoot politicians.
First and formost its called a Magazine, second, the 94 AWB would not have stoped JL from buying a magazine with a greater then ten round capacity. All the ban did was prevent private citizens from purchaseing new hi cap mags made after september '94. If the magazine was made before this date, it could still be legaly bought and sold. A friend of mine once bought a 15rd Glock 19 "pre ban" back in 2002. Shure it cost him $90 bucks, but it was still possable for him to obtain it.
Ahh american politicans, americas future gestapo leaders who will be executed by freedom fighters for there crimes against the people of the nation. Get ready america revolution is coming, along with all the atrocitys that happen to the innocent on the count of the people with the power not willing to submit or change to the will of the people. Humans have not evolved much, the same can be said about our infant global political system. Revolution can happen in the 21st century.
@RRCSMM there are also laws that prohibit meth manufacture. whats your point?
further your claim is actually false as shown in the article "Did the D.C. handgun ban improve public safety?" by Phillip E. Lee and the article "Effectiveness of D.C. gun ban still a mystery" by Paul Duggan states that, gun crime levels were not as low as areas with more relaxed gun control laws.
Further, my point of gun control protecting criminals, is that law abiding citizens won't carry, while criminals will.
If he couldnt buy a clip that held 21 more bullets then it all might have worked out better. Chances are he bought them from a licensed Ammu-nation on the corner, and not out of the trunk of someones car. Unless criminals want to make the magazines themselves that hold 31 bullets, and if there werent pieces of shit board members at the NRA, then Arizona might have more people living in it. The NRA was created the same year as the Klan...You wouldnt need a gun if only cops had them...Canada!
@bluefootedpig I had a good response typed up but rather than play into your game, this is my last comment. I don't argue with children, because children can't use a dictionary to look up "overthrow" or "corrupt" and they don't understand cause and effect. Children keep arguing for a long time, no matter how dumb the prolonged argument makes them look and lastly, Children always need to get in the last word on an argument, so go ahead, reply back, get your last word and be ignored.
@Lorn4815162342 Thats okay, i understand, but just like 'children' try to get the last word in, they also tend to insult the person instead of debate the topic, often calling them names. Mostly this is due to when the person wants to hold onto a position that doesn't work, so they try to discredit the opponent, you see it a lot in politics. But hey, thats cool, most people on youtube are that way, any kind of actual debate often turns into name calling. Its okay, i won't resort to that.
he could have just said it would have been a blessing if there was 10 rounds in the gun but its not 2003! he was right to suggest it was the mad man and not the gun that did the dirty deed because thats what american gun enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists like von helton believe (the gun wont kill ya. i will)
most right wingers in public office are cowards, those not in office that need a gun to feel they a man are cowards.
The NRA is a organization of fucking pussies!!! Inempt individuals without any voice of reason or rational thought, cowards. Cowards that do not have the capacity to vocalilize any belief other that fear of death if you are not ignorant enlugh to agree with them.
@RRCSMM oh really? well the the 3 times my dad has had to pull his in his lifetime it stopped them dead in their tracks. the majority of criminals prey on the easy meat, they dont want to bother with someone who will fight back. and most of all they dont expect it
@RRCSMM They don't HAVE to care if I've got a gun. Neither do my hollow points. Does my ideology fail if they DON'T die? Is my ideology so incumbent upon my aim?
@RRCSMM Yes it is. An armed society is a polite society. And an armed QuartuvLarry is a deadly QuartuvLarry.
Chances are actually 90/10 in my favor. These are actually pearls, because a thug would NEVER have the advantage of knowing his chances before I said this out in the open.
@RRCSMM: Actually, if you read the Standford Law Review "Confirming 'More Guns = Less Crime'" (2003...I think) followed research on more cities than just DC and Chicago. But I guess you didn't do any more research than just blame everything on guns instead of the gangs...who are using illegally possessed firearms anyway.
@RRCSMM Police in London are confiscating THOUSANDS of guns every month. In England criminals are 50% more likely to break into your home while you are present than in the U.S. All violent crimes in the U.K are higher than in the U.S except for murder when you adjust for population. Australia crime increased by 100% after their firearms ban. The National Academy of Science published a 328 page paper in which they did not find a single gun control law that lowered crime. Science IT WORKS!!!!
@RRCSMM: "And if a person did make a 32 round mag when there's a law clearly stating that it's illegal, he's a criminal." High capacity magazines don't need to be made in the US. Cocaine isn't made in the US, it is illegal yet it seems to be everywhere.
@RRCSMM well technically any gun can hold more than that its just the magazines they make for them, and like i said if they want to do away with extended mags fine as long as they dont abuse that power. restrictions dont necessarily mean reduced crime. are gun laws stricter now or where they stricter 40 years ago?
@RRCSMM: As mentioned before, areas with more legal gun rights have less gun crime and areas with stricter gun control laws have more gun violence. After the handgun bans in DC and Chicago gun violence (including handgun violence) went up. You don't understand that taking gun rights away from law abiding citizens just gives the criminals an extra upper hand. Yes Loughner purchased his gun legally but almost 90% of the time, illegally possessed firearms are used in crimes.
@RRCSMM My security is not increased because of STUDIES? The Supreme Court has ruled that the police are NOT the bodyguards of the public! I own a gun AND I have military training, so yeah. My chances ARE increased.
Yeah...
I think I'll take my chances with my 30 round clips (intruders can never be TOO dead)
@RRCSMM You actually believe the use of Marijuana hasn't increased? Boy are you in denial. Did banning Marijuana make it harder to obtain? Far from it in fact it's even easier now because the trade is underground and dealers do not ask kids for ID.Banning Alcohol didn't solve anything. I'm talking about violent crimes, robbery, rape, home invasions, assault, and murder. Banning guns does not change those crimes. Stop being ideological and just accept the facts.
"Then only the crimianls will have guns" When is the last time you faced a criminal with a gun? w The idea of restricting guns orks in most other countries. The US has the highest rate of gun crime. I don't worry about my chilren being shot whenever they leave the house where I live. Your name calling just shows your level of immaturiy and inability to form an inteligent argument ar decision. I wouldn't want you owning a gun if you get so upest if someone disagrees with you.
@kenasco: 85% of all gun violence in the US is with an illegally possessed firearm. Half of the US gun deaths are from suicide (only b/c its easier to kill yourself with a gun), so those should get thrown out. Restricting guns restricts the right to defend oneself.
I already own a gun, and I'm not upset. I was simply pointing out the fact that you are an idiot for wanting to ban all guns. Just like cocaine, if guns were banned they'd make their way here illegally.
@RRCSMM I never use family tragedy to bludgeon the rights of others. My brother-in-law came out of the closet recently, ruining my sister's life and the lives of my nephews. I'm still not getting in the way of gay marriage now, am I?
@RRCSMM "What kind of moronic, self-deluded logic is that?"
Well, it's a derivative of what one of our Founding Fathers said: "Those who would sacrifice liberty for a little more security deserve neither liberty NOR security." -Benjamin Franklin
Besides, HOW many people did he kill with a 30-round clip? Was it 30 people? I can't remember. Can you remind me? Because it only takes just one bullet to kill, after all. It can.
But perhaps it's better to punish OTHER legal gun owners, isn't it?
@RRCSMM if they want to do away with extended magazines, id be ok with that as long as they dont go overboard with such laws. however they dont need to be touching standard magazines for the handguns. if a gun was a originally designed to carry 13 or 15 rounds(which i think is the highest cap standard mag on any handgun out right now) then they need to leave it that way
@RRCSMM Well if you want to talk about NEED. The more guns generally means there is less crime statistically speaking. The areas of the United States with the highest crime are those areas with the heaviest gun control laws such as Washington D.C, Chicago, ect. In the states where there are more guns per capita and people can carry concealed on their person relatively easily the crime rates are much lower then the rest of the united states.
@RRCSMM It does matter because if you do not understand the function and the different types of firearms, their purpose, their ability ect then you are prone to making bad judgement on behalf of your ignorance. You say " these types of guns " well what guns are those? Do you know their status legally? Do you know their purpose? Do you know how the function? Do you know what an assault weapon is and if we should ban them? If so for what purpose and how do you describe an assault weapon?
i love how he says in 2003 he could only have shot 10 bullets if he really wanted to he could have gotten his hands on a high capacity mag. criminals dont care about the law.
@RRCSMM Forgive me, but, with all due respect, ur comment here is rather CRYPTIC. Please edify us all, dear sir. WTF r u talking about with "N-dash", and what, pray the f**k tell, am I "doing wrong"?!
@RRCSMM Because owning them is our natural human right. I don't expect a young child for you to grasp the concept of natural rights. Also tell me why do police officers carry handguns that carry 15-17 rounds standard? I'll tell you right off the bat NOBODY needs a gun. But we have a bill of RIGHTS not NEEDS. I live in Caliornia and I know first hand how stupid the gun laws are here. I only own 10 round magazine but I can onvert them into 30 rounders in under 30 seconds GUARANTEED!!
See generally guncite [.] com, and, in particular, ] guncite [.] com / journals / hal-lin [.] html. See also Stephen Halbrook's own superb site: stephenhalbrook [.] com / right-to-bear-arms [.] html. See in particular "WHAT THE FRAMERS INTENDED: A LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF THE RIGHT TO 'BEAR ARMS' "

There is a false premise here that if the ban was in effect that Loughner would only be able to get 10 rounds off... this is stupid. Just because drugs are illegal that does not make them just disappear. In fact Marijuana is easier to acquire than Alcohol especially among minors. I live in California where they have the 10 round only law. Criminals use high cap mags ALL the time and I can build a 30 round magazine legally in under 30 seconds illegally.Murder was illegal and that didn't stop him.
@safewaysecurity Very well-said. Loughner shouldn't've been ABLE to even HAVE a gun, ON THE ONE HAND. ON THE **OTHER**, 2nd Amendment values clearly imply that any COMPETENT, law-abiding person should be able to have, say, e.g., a 30-round clip at their discretion. I'm not familiar with ANY **NON-QUESTION(S)-BEGGING argument(s) to the contrary. Sometimes O'Donnell has a reasonable point, yet other times (SUCH AS *HERE*) he is, w/all due respect, FULL O' **SHIT**!
@safewaysecurity And, hell, btw, I'm not even a member, mind you, of the NRA or any other gun or 2nd Amendment group or association. Just a jurist who specializes in (among other things) 2nd Amendment law & jurisprudence...
@MCP2012 YOu kind of have to be a gun owner to fully understand how ridiculous these laws are because anti-gunners generally do not understand firearm function or anything relating to guns. They don't understand that no matter what you do you will not be able to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals. I've argued that the background check is pretty useless and the Loughner case proves my point. And it was enacted by gun control advocates saying it would prevent these very kinds of events.
@safewaysecurity Oh, I'm sure!! The "conservative" admonishment---now decades old---is STILL as TRUE as it EVER WAS: When guns are outlawed only **outlaws** will have guns! And, as u deftly & spot-on point-out---they (the bad guys) WILL, come hell or high-water, get their hands on a firearm or 2 if they want to badly enough. And, yeah, background checks, other than to check for VIOLENT CRIMINAL record, is both pretty much useless as well as INVASIVE. (cont....)
@safewaysecurity And I genuinely cannot fathom (at least not completely, tho maybe partially) why talkin' heads like Larry O'Donnell---who, while perhaps not quite the very brightest bulb in the box, is nonetheless not (at least not quite) a drooling idiot---don't understand all this. In addition to the work of John Lott (with which I presume u to be at least somewhat familiar), see also the work of Stephen Halbrook (w/whom u may or may not be as familiar).
@9thgate i don't have to defend myself against the government, just the guy who decides to throw regulation to the wind and build his own 32 round mag, come to a grocery store, and start pumping rounds into innocent civilians.
gun regulations do not protect law abiding citizens. they protect those who do not obey the law.
why stop at 10? why not lower the maximum amount a cartridge can carry to 5? that way more people would be alive today. but then again he could have bought 2-4 more guns and inflict just as much pain as he did with 1 gun.
@LordTowel I draw the line with explosives (grenades - rocket or hand thrown), any kind of nuclear/radioactive weapons. Every other gun/arms should qualify. Actually I don't know really, but 20 clip magazines is not it
Why do they want to have more bullets anyways? It makes no sense, 10 bullets is enough to kill anything. Either you have terrible shot and do not need a gun at all, or you are preparing for a showdown/war and honestly you don't need guns at all.
All the guns are bad except for the police gun. The police gun will save the person and kill the bad person....The police people is the safe way....America need to change the gun so the police is the safe way.
So a guy drives his plane into the Whitehouse, should we ban civilian ownership of airplanes? People kill people behind drunk driving on the road all the time, but we agree it would be ridiculous to return to prohibition. I'm not a guns 4 all person but I'm also not someone who feels freak occurrences justify stupid legislation (any patriot act lovers out there? I'm talking to YOU) especially when I haven't seen the numbers corellating tough gun control laws and less murder.
@vmoney65 Norway; though gun laws on ownership and handling. Murder rate; lowest.
By though; you have to get a permit. Secondly, police do not carry guns, criminals do not need to carry guns. If you draw a gun you get double the punishment and swat is called (with machineguns).
People will kill people, it doesn't matter what weapon is employed! There are many was to commit mass murder without using guns or explosives. If a person has murder in their heart and malicious intent to kill many people then there are ways to do it. Society can have the most impact in creating these killers , but no part of society has done anything to help!
Yes Cenk..my godness all us dumb gun owners are asking far to much, after all we are to stupid to realize the difference between a 15 to 30 round mag, and a high velocity armor piece explosive device, clearly we need you (whos never shot or even held a firearms) to tell us what is to dangerous for us firearm owners to own. Thank God mags take a whole 1 to 2 seconds to change out, maybe we can make a law that requires shoots to wait at least 5-10 seconds before putting a new mag in? moron
@DaytonaRoadster 1 to 2 seconds is all many would need to stop him or run.....if the gun was 10+1 then it would be 4-5 seconds since he would need to change out the clips/magazine twice.
I own several guns and rifles...........the most I can hold (capacity) in my biggest handgun is 15+1........if I cant hit someone trying to hurt me with 16 bullets....then it's time I buy a shotgun.
My Ak only holds 10 and that is by choice. If Zombies come and try to kill us.......then I guess you win.
@ccf22p well not that im condoning 30round mags but would you rather have 1 guy with a 30 round mag spraying and throwing lead everywhere, or a guy with a 10round mag taking well aimed shits whos good and winds up hitting 7 people out of 10 shots then what? because when they do get rid of high cap magazines it will happen
@groam6666 Google "BBC News Gun control" dated 2nd Nov 2011. The Home Office states firearms related crimes committed in 2008-09 were 14250 - an 18% drop from previous yr (hence consistent with consecutive reductions over previous 5 yrs). Noteworthy that FA crime injuries down 41% over same period ( UK crime experts believe majority of FA crimes are undertaken with fake guns).
Your endpoint source is the Daily Mail. The tabloid is known (even here in Aust) for cherrypicking/sensationalizing.
He could have had another fully loaded gun with another 10 bullets. Crazy is just crazy. It's a good argument, but the way I see it is if the government has strong weapons, then the citizens should have strong weapons. The rights and access of government on the procurement of weapons for upholding law should never overstep the right and access of it's citizens.
@TitParty SO do you know what the 3rd most personally armed nation behind the United States and Yemen? Switzerland. Given their lower crime rates, why isn't anyone advocating we emulate their take on the subject? Btw, I'm not a fan of guns or the NRA... I just don't believe in ineffective legislation.
@vmoney65 So you do know that even Swiss civilians cant buy autos? So you do know that every Swiss has to serve and be a reservist? So you do know that would mean compulsory service for everyone in US?
While I concede that you have a better chance of compliance from a gun manufacturer, all that means is that a would be mass murderer changes his method _slightly_. The issue is the intent, not the method of implementation.
If not for that, there would be no Richard Nixon & Vietnam Escalation (October Surprise I), Watergate scandal. Or Reagan & Arms for Hostages Deal (October Surprise II), Iran-Contra and Ruined Economy. No G.H.W Bush & Willie Horton, Franklin Scandal, S&L Bailout & Gulf War I and Ruined Economy. No G.W. Bush with Illegal Wars, Torture, Corruption, Trashed Constitution & Civil Liberties and Ruined Economy.

Wow what an idiot. Gun Control people have no idea what the real world is like and have never been in any kind of dangerous situation.

How to arms manufactures make more money selling higher capacity magazines? It seems to me they would make more money if there was a capacity limit, as they would sell more.

Joseph090969 3 months ago

Gun control works? Well then, I guess if you are Anders Behring Breivik, then yes I guess gun control DOES work! I mean, how else could have he pulled off those Norway terrorist attacks if more citizens were armed?
Seriously...wake up buddy.
EastTimor1 6 months ago 3
@EastTimor1 Every year in the USA thousands of Anders Behring Breiviks go on gun shooting spree. Did you not see the statistics above? Norway gun deaths are almost at zero, even including the sickening shooting lately. I think you are the one asleep, but you are in good company in the United States of Amnesia.
dazzagazza6969 6 months ago
@dazzagazza6969
EastTimor1 6 months ago 6
@EastTimor1 You make some good points about glue sniffing, but you're missing the point about guns.
If guns made everyone safer it would be taught in schools. Children would carry guns in the school bags to 'keep them safe'. Pensioners would carry guns in a Clint Eastwood style hoister. You would be taught quick-draw'.
Many American gun owners don't carry them everywhere. In a armed-robbery or mugging do you ask them to wait, whilst you go home and get your gun?
dazzagazza6969 6 months ago
@dazzagazza6969
EastTimor1 6 months ago

Surely, it was a less violent world then.

problem with outlawing guns is criminals don't obey the laws in the first place.
DavidToddSchiesler 11 months ago 15
@DavidToddSchiesler The problem with not outlawing guns is that it turns arguments into homicides. Statistics don't lie - more people with guns = more murders.
neverfearchrisishere 9 months ago
@neverfearchrisishere "arguments into homicides" Really? Perhaps there are a lot of would-be murderers in the Congress then. Get yourself a copy of "More Guns Less Crime" which is written by an economist. Show me you are better than an economist when analyzing data. Perhaps you don't see the benefits of owning a gun, then you want it banned.
So more cars = more crashes = more death too.
Legalizing alcohol = more drinking and driving = more death
More cigarette = more people with lung cancer
ustfu 9 months ago
@ustfu Better than an economist that ignores the facts that america has 10-20 times the firearm homicide rate of most developed countries and the highest of all developed countries? Yes I would be prepared to state I'm a better statistician than him. Perhaps he should name his book accurately: More Guns More Gun crime.

tiffyj85 11 months ago
I think its funny how people on the left generally believe that because something is law, that means that no one will break it. Lets take this hi mag ban for instance. The left wants to impose the ban, saying it will prevent criminals from getting them. Yes, because every criminal follows the law, and upon realizing that it is illegal for them to have a high round mag, they will immediately drop any ideas to rob or shoot anyone, and go click coupons for food shopping.

with a 10 round magazine, the gun would have held 11 bullets.

@neverfearchrisishere The problem in Mexico isn't guns, but drugs, moron. Sure, let's take away the 2nd Amend and see what the Libtards will do to your 1st or 4th Amend.
EastTimor1 5 months ago
@neverfearchrisishere
EastTimor1 5 months ago
@ustfu As a liberterian gun rights have been the hardest thing to accept, however the truth is that you can't only give freedom or individual rights on a case by case basis. Undoubtedly there are people in society that are incapable of handling the responsibility of owning a firearm and the results can be disasterous, but the results can be disaterous if will allow people to make any number of their own decisions. To believe in liberty means you need to accept that some people will abuse it.

Lorn4815162342 1 year ago
@Lorn4815162342 Thats okay, i understand, but just like 'children' try to get the last word in, they also tend to insult the person instead of debate the topic, often calling them names. Mostly this is due to when the person wants to hold onto a position that doesn't work, so they try to discredit the opponent, you see it a lot in politics. But hey, thats cool, most people on youtube are that way, any kind of actual debate often turns into name calling. Its okay, i won't resort to that.

he could have just said it would have been a blessing if there was 10 rounds in the gun but its not 2003! he was right to suggest it was the mad man and not the gun that did the dirty deed because thats what american gun enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists like von helton believe (the gun wont kill ya. i will)

@RRCSMM: Actually, the article "More Guns = Less Crime" was "debunked" by Ayres and Donohue, which was then debunked by the Standford Law Review.
CDubSD 1 year ago
@RRCSMM: Actually, if you read the Standford Law Review "Confirming 'More Guns = Less Crime'" (2003...I think) followed research on more cities than just DC and Chicago. But I guess you didn't do any more research than just blame everything on guns instead of the gangs...who are using illegally possessed firearms anyway.
CDubSD 1 year ago
@RRCSMM Police in London are confiscating THOUSANDS of guns every month. In England criminals are 50% more likely to break into your home while you are present than in the U.S. All violent crimes in the U.K are higher than in the U.S except for murder when you adjust for population. Australia crime increased by 100% after their firearms ban. The National Academy of Science published a 328 page paper in which they did not find a single gun control law that lowered crime. Science IT WORKS!!!!
safewaysecurity 1 year ago
@RRCSMM: "And if a person did make a 32 round mag when there's a law clearly stating that it's illegal, he's a criminal." High capacity magazines don't need to be made in the US. Cocaine isn't made in the US, it is illegal yet it seems to be everywhere.
CDubSD 1 year ago
@RRCSMM well technically any gun can hold more than that its just the magazines they make for them, and like i said if they want to do away with extended mags fine as long as they dont abuse that power. restrictions dont necessarily mean reduced crime. are gun laws stricter now or where they stricter 40 years ago?
steven4570 1 year ago
@RRCSMM: As mentioned before, areas with more legal gun rights have less gun crime and areas with stricter gun control laws have more gun violence. After the handgun bans in DC and Chicago gun violence (including handgun violence) went up. You don't understand that taking gun rights away from law abiding citizens just gives the criminals an extra upper hand. Yes Loughner purchased his gun legally but almost 90% of the time, illegally possessed firearms are used in crimes.
CDubSD 1 year ago

Stop being ideological and just accept the facts.
safewaysecurity 1 year ago
"Then only the crimianls will have guns" When is the last time you faced a criminal with a gun? w The idea of restricting guns orks in most other countries. The US has the highest rate of gun crime. I don't worry about my chilren being shot whenever they leave the house where I live. Your name calling just shows your level of immaturiy and inability to form an inteligent argument ar decision. I wouldn't want you owning a gun if you get so upest if someone disagrees with you.
kenasco 1 year ago
@kenasco: 85% of all gun violence in the US is with an illegally possessed firearm. Half of the US gun deaths are from suicide (only b/c its easier to kill yourself with a gun), so those should get thrown out. Restricting guns restricts the right to defend oneself.
I already own a gun, and I'm not upset. I was simply pointing out the fact that you are an idiot for wanting to ban all guns. Just like cocaine, if guns were banned they'd make their way here illegally.
CDubSD 1 year ago
@RRCSMM: Move to a country where the right to guns isn't in its bylaws then. No one said you had to stay in the US.

QuartuvLarry 1 year ago
@RRCSMM if they want to do away with extended magazines, id be ok with that as long as they dont go overboard with such laws. however they dont need to be touching standard magazines for the handguns. if a gun was a originally designed to carry 13 or 15 rounds(which i think is the highest cap standard mag on any handgun out right now) then they need to leave it that way
steven4570 1 year ago
@RRCSMM Well if you want to talk about NEED. The more guns generally means there is less crime statistically speaking. The areas of the United States with the highest crime are those areas with the heaviest gun control laws such as Washington D.C, Chicago, ect. In the states where there are more guns per capita and people can carry concealed on their person relatively easily the crime rates are much lower then the rest of the united states.
safewaysecurity 1 year ago
@RRCSMM It does matter because if you do not understand the function and the different types of firearms, their purpose, their ability ect then you are prone to making bad judgement on behalf of your ignorance. You say " these types of guns " well what guns are those? Do you know their status legally? Do you know their purpose? Do you know how the function? Do you know what an assault weapon is and if we should ban them? If so for what purpose and how do you describe an assault weapon?

There is a false premise here that if the ban was in effect that Loughner would only be able to get 10 rounds off... this is stupid. Just because drugs are illegal that does not make them just disappear. In fact Marijuana is easier to acquire than Alcohol especially among minors. I live in California where they have the 10 round only law. Criminals use high cap mags ALL the time and I can build a 30 round magazine legally in under 30 seconds illegally.Murder was illegal and that didn't stop him.
safewaysecurity 1 year ago

MCP2012 1 year ago
@MCP2012 YOu kind of have to be a gun owner to fully understand how ridiculous these laws are because anti-gunners generally do not understand firearm function or anything relating to guns. They don't understand that no matter what you do you will not be able to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals. I've argued that the background check is pretty useless and the Loughner case proves my point. And it was enacted by gun control advocates saying it would prevent these very kinds of events.
safewaysecurity 1 year ago
@safewaysecurity Oh, I'm sure!! The "conservative" admonishment---now decades old---is STILL as TRUE as it EVER WAS: When guns are outlawed only **outlaws** will have guns! And, as u deftly & spot-on point-out---they (the bad guys) WILL, come hell or high-water, get their hands on a firearm or 2 if they want to badly enough. And, yeah, background checks, other than to check for VIOLENT CRIMINAL record, is both pretty much useless as well as INVASIVE. (cont....)
MCP2012 1 year ago
@safewaysecurity And I genuinely cannot fathom (at least not completely, tho maybe partially) why talkin' heads like Larry O'Donnell---who, while perhaps not quite the very brightest bulb in the box, is nonetheless not (at least not quite) a drooling idiot---don't understand all this. In addition to the work of John Lott (with which I presume u to be at least somewhat familiar), see also the work of Stephen Halbrook (w/whom u may or may not be as familiar).

@vmoney65 Norway; though gun laws on ownership and handling. Murder rate; lowest.
By though; you have to get a permit. Secondly, police do not carry guns, criminals do not need to carry guns. If you draw a gun you get double the punishment and swat is called (with machineguns).
Works like a charm.

Noteworthy that FA crime injuries down 41% over same period ( UK crime experts believe majority of FA crimes are undertaken with fake guns).
