  • Ok, some people believe this is a good idea, but it's pretty dangerious. What will happen if the train is comming and i'm still between the door?

  • @j2anime Exactly what happens when you jump out of any other moving vehicle and meet the floor only this time you meet a train!

  • Awesome... Finally some creativity from Asia. So excited. Hopefully this is just a taste of all the cool new ideas to come.

  • as you can see it picks up speed slowly as the train passes underneath

  • Are you sure it is from Taiwan? ? ! It is from China right.

  • @EricNgNg Peng Yu-lun is taiwanese

  • What about the train height? I doubt it is possible to put put the slipping car on the top of a train within the existing loading gauge. This mean that someone need to rebuild all the tunnels, bridges and overhead centenary. And - as the wires would be higher - these railways would became useless for conventional trains.

  • I don't get it !! what's the point? ,,, people are going to go to the station, wait for the next carriage, get on the train and so on !!! I don't understand what's new with this train??? what's different from regular train?? what's the value added? or the waste saved???

  • @00Mahdy00 Imagine you have to travel between two big cities between which there are millions of mini stops. This concept saves the breaking time at those mini stops.

  • The idea is in fact very good! Because for breaking to stop at a station you waste a horrible amount of kinetic energy, that ist (by conventional breaking systems) converted into "useless" heat.

And after you stopped, you need to accelerate again.. Yet more energy invested.

It can, in some way, be compared to driving in your car, and having to stop for traffic lights every now and then. It annoys, doesn't it?

So, if you manage the acceleration process of the small carriage, it's a nice concept!

  • @MistedMind I don't think it'll save so much energy cuz nevertheless the train has to slow down and accelerate again when passing through the station otherwise the boarding carriage has to take a tremendous acceleration within the limited length of the train.

  • los carros tienen interconexion con todo el tren? osea hay una escalera que baja al tren?

  • que chingonada!!

  • Non-stop doesn't mean the train can't slow down. Speed can always be modulated to suit riders' comfort level.

  • So lets look at this... assume the train travels at 100m/s. A passenger will not be comfortable much beyond 2 m/s^2 resulting in a train thats approximately 3 km long as well as a 3km slow down ramp. If we increase the accel to 10m/s^2 comparable to take off in a fighter jet that would make most people vomit... we get a 500 meter train. assume now that the train is going half that speed, the train is now 7 cars long but travelling half the speed defeating the purpose. Regenerative brakes?

  • @davidtiman It would probably be easier to have a train drop off one compartment upon entering the station, and one compartment catching up with the train and then connect to it upon leaving, all non-stop.

  • @davidtiman 100 m/s is 360 km/h (220 MPH). I should think it extremely unlikely that any train will sustain that speed at all times, even a non-stop one. 75 m/s is a more credible cruising speed, and if we allow for coasting or regenerative braking to save energy, there's no reason a non-stop train couldn't slow to half of that for transfers, and then pick back up to cruising speed after.

  • this will work out when population is less...

how can 1000 people can fit in 100 people connector cabin... and for short distance stops it is not an good idea. Works out only for long distance

  • now i'm waiting for the airplane that doesnt stop at airports

  • @Shpongly yeah...have everyone wear parachutes and jump off at their locations...

  • @Shpongly

Well, imagine 5 take-off cities in continent A and 5 arrival cities in continent B. To enable all travels you need 5*5=25 airplanes.

But, if you make an intermediate "virtual stop" over the atlantic on air by joining the planes, you may end up with 5 planes taking off > sorting the passangers (if planned equal distribution) again to 5 destination cities planes > 5 planes with correct passangers arrive in correct cities.

ONLY 5 planes instead of 25.

    check my train video

  • And you still have to stop the train for maintenance uns repair. D'oh

  • It must be really confortable to go from 0 to 400 miles per hour in 2 seconds...

  • @jazzavantgarde You wouldn't even feel it. They will scrap you off your seat upon arrival.

  • @jazzavantgarde u just don't get the idea

  • @fastestbird of course I get, bro. I just don't understand how, applying real physics, the train wagon in rest can go from zero to whatever the speed of the nonstop train is as smooth as in the video. It would be really easy to kill all the passangers with a bump like that if this thing doesn't work really well... (sorry for the poor english)

  • @jazzavantgarde

depending on the friction coefficient between the moving upper part (platform) and the stationary lower part (train) the time needed to acheive 400 mph could be more than 2 seconds. Also, I suppose that the train would not perform the switch of the upper parts on 400 mph but with a more sensible speed, about 50 mph.

With that speed and with a 20 second switch, the acceleration would be about the same with that of a plane taking off.

  • @eyegr in that case*(50mph) We would need a 447(almost half kilometer) straight train track that doesn't make turns just to fit that amount of friction exactly, with a totally non-conservative engineering calculation with no error verge.

  • Pretty impressive

  • this makes me want to eat cheese!

  • ok who else saw this on yahoo news lol

  • The video on Yahoo news seem to not be available...

  • If someone could identify the music that would great. It's the same music that was used for the old VW Bug Turbonium adverts.

  • I think it would make more sense to just have a series of live/work suites onboard the train. Each occupant could buy or lease their own cabin. This would eliminate the need for boarding in the first place. Stations would no longer be required either, so the savings in infrastructure costs would be huge!
