This is political spectacle, not politics. Democracy has always been a useful tool in the creation of false dialectics by the controlling minority. It's easier to control people who believe that they have freedom of choice. We live in a corporatocracy that is collectivistic, plutocratic, and fascistic. The system generally moves towards tyrannically enforced collectivism for the vast majority and crony capitalism for the power brokers. It's not a free market.

I think Grayson's chances in the upcoming election depends on how strong the Occupy movement is in Florida. His positions are in line with the Occupy folks, but if they don't go to the polls in strength, he will not stand a chance. I hope he wins, we need more people like him in Congress.

Grayson is lying when he says underwater home owners can't do anything about their mortgage principles being worth more than the homes.

They can easily default and go rent or move in with their family... This isn't the UAE where you go to prison...

It's too easy to feel sympathetic about home owners, yet no one even blinks when people the same age are still saving for a down payment. They're not underwater because .. they rent or live with their family!

The argument is deceptive and unfair.

Am I victim too for not living in a house? I'm almost 29 and I still don't have a house because I decided to wait a few years before having children. I almost have a decent down payment for my first house.

What you forget about is that during the period these "victims" were tricked, they also got the finer lifestyle of home ownership, while people in my position put off gratification choosing instead to live with family.

How did they destroy the housing market? What does that even mean? Do you mean that the period of de-leveraging put downward pressure on housing prices? Don't you care about all the people that can't afford homes? Why are lower home prices bad?

Selfish home owners only care about whether the prices of their homes go up. If home prices go down, more people will get to live in homes. What's sick is how they justify the rising price of their assets as good for the poor..

We need a way to get rid of bad employees other than waiting for the next election. If they betray the oath of office and their fiduciary responsibility to the people, they shouldn't be allowed to continue to corrupt the system. Bush/Cheney were allowed to keep their jobs, and look at all the damage they did. We cannot afford to have employees bought and paid for by big money, regardless of the source.

I just heard that Congress is exempt from insider-trading laws. Corruption is rampant.
