What great song even after 6 decades its so fresh and evergreen. Excellent syncharanisation between P.Leela and Great MLV. Even in those days no Electronic gadgets, mixer etc. Hats of to music directorMr.C.R.Subbaraman.................Subbu,CBE
My fav is p leela. She takes my breath away by her melliferous voice. Mlv is great. I love all of the Tamil Telugu songs sung by leela, mlv, mss susheela, jikki, varalaxmi etc.
I like this type of songs(wish I know music better to understand ). Two singers competing. If any of you know or have songs please share with us.

@reva12... Your comment on the voices is spot on! Well-put. Both have such beauty and great karnataka music body language. And these modern 'chocolate beauties' need to learn how to lip sync so well. Thanks also to whomever uploaded this song.
It is indeed Lalitha, Padmini's older sister & a star in her own rights. IMO, she was a better dancer/actor than Padmini. She had a keen sense of the distinction between stage & screen performance & toned her expressions down accordingly for camera.
I love MLV best among the trinity.
Leela was one under-appreciated singer. (Check out Irumbu Thirai songs.) I like her womanly voice much better than the thin (helium-inhalation induced:) pubescent voices Tamil/Hindi film industry generally prefer.

For ages I've been trying to describe exactly this. Thank you.
And thanks to whomever posted this song. The body language, lip sync, and the general beauty of the two women are amazing. The first two are object lessons for these modern "chocolate" beauties (who can't properly lip sync to even the most banal lalala papapa songs) on how to lip sync.
Of the female trinity, I think that MLV has perhaps the sweetest voice. Her voice, her nuances and sweetness, basically, the sheer quality of her singing is astounding..
Udumalai Narayanakavi's sound poetic sense is explicit in this song. Annoyed by Poet Kannadasan's negative comment on this poet in his Biography.
