Diamonds are made under pressure they say! It seems that the political oppression only helped make the Youth Culture twice as active and the Rock Music Scene angry ("creative") as a result!
Dont worry...we gave it back to the pigs !...we flogged them too,i remember about 30 rolling up at cloudlands after The Sharks and Razar / someone threw a bottle ...that started it /those cops were a bloodbath, they asked for it,and we gave it back.Russ Hienze would walk around the valley pissed out of his head/we bashed that cunt too ...more than once.
It was great to see this again after all these years..the "Mystery of Sixes" gig at the 4zzzfm radiothon at UQ was a real flashback...remember it well
Haha, that was nothing. I was 18 in 1987 in Brisbane and the way the alternative scenesters were treated by the police under Joh Bjelke Petersen was atrocious. You'd be beaten up by cops on a Friday night for having long hair if you were a guy. Forbidden entry to clubs for wearing black jeans! Pretty full-on.
Tsk! Alternative scenesters getting in the neck again! Utterly renders the experience of '77 - '80 as meaningless - I'm sure we can all concur with your withering dismissal. Was there a moratorium on taking the long-of-hair to task on say, a Tuesday evening, for argument sake? I'm just wondering, maf, are you absolutely clear that it was in fact the busy's who were smashing your face in?
@dasgutz37 I didn't mean to dismiss other people's experiences, I was just responding to mrbassman25's comment, letting him know it didn't stop there, that the police continued to harass people for no reason.
Sorry? So why seek to dilute something which was a visceral every-other-night onslaught of politically engineered sadism which just went on and on, year after year, in people's homes, on people's anatomies, on people's fucking minds... why the fuck are you trying to paint it out with with schoolboy accounts of garden variety encounters with jobbing constables on a Friday night? Sensitive cunt aren't you! Or is it merely ignorant?
being from scotland... ive never known of these bands.. the go betweens sound good.... remind me of 'talking heads' lyrically and musically... good stuff :D

Ah, you're one of THOSE people online who argue about nothing. Sorry, initially, I didn't realise.
