  • @TheK12student Neither, this is Cipriana's natural hair in an updo ;D

  • I love you ladies...thanks so much for keeping it real. I think I just had a paradigm shift. My hair is 4b-4c with over 50% shrinkage. When stretched, it is shoulder length. After washing & conditioning is when I detangle. But some areas mat like a rug no matter what I do and I end up with a pile of broken hair on the counter. Most advice I've seen is to detangle curly hair while wet so I thought something was wrong with me. I'm definitely going to try dry detangling this week. Thanks so much!

  • @ladibugz We love you and thank you so much!!! Sorry for the late response. Yes shrinkage can be a mutha but oh so beautiful as well. So glad you may find a solution that will work! I know dry detangling is not for everyone but it definitely works for me! Remember to have plenty of oils on hand while you dry detangle, this will make the process easier :))) -Cipriana

  • OMG, BEAUTIFUL Ladies!,,,but, do yall have videos more on the ACTION side and less on the TALKING side???

  • @lashunda22 Thank you so much. We will have more tutorials coming but with a whole lot of talking as well, lol. Thank you for watching!

  • Good tips ladies! Would like to see some tutorials!

  • @purebrownsugar77 Thank you for watching :D We just posted a tutorial today :)

  • 140 twists?!!! holy moly! lol. The thought of that hurts my arms

Don't detangle hair while hungry lmao.

That is what I need to learn patience! I go in with the idea to be gentle and all namaste but then I get frustrated and get too rough. I need to chill out lol.

  • @olexia07 Hahahaha yes!!! You can definitely take it out on your hair if you are hungry, lol. Sometimes when I say the number out loud, I'm like damn, that is a lot of twists.

Patience is certainly the golden rule you will save so much hair if you practice this. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment ;D

  • Hey ladies please check out our blog page for our journey though the trials and tribulations of having curly hair....

    2londoncurlies.tumblr.com

  • @thequeengeedoarh Thank you for letting us know, we will definitely check it out! Love the name ;D

  • u are so right, finger detangling is the way to go...grease my bad boys up and i detangle, its easier.... its so good i no longer break my hair...i can detangle anytime...even between styles..i make sure that every 3 or so day i remove shed hair....which really cute down on the tangles...

  • @Creamiie26 Amen!!! I completely understand that dry detangling is not for everyone but I am in total agreement with you on this. Dry detangling for my strands has been my savior!!! ;D

  • Cipriana craps me up!! you both are so beautiful

  • @alexxxhes Lol, thank you so much :DDD

  • Beautiful hair ladies :) Nikisha, can you show us your hair down?

  • @FearfullyMade1976 Thank you so much and Cipriana is the one who has her hair in an updo style. There is a video posted with Cipriana taking down her loose twists :D

  • this was a great video for 4bc hair detangling! I have added some weapons to my arsenal, including Extra music :) Blessings!

  • @okorolina Music is one of the best arsenals, lol. Thank you so much for watching, so glad we could help :D

  • Can you do a video on how you do your updo

  • @FocusOnGrowth Yes, a video is coming right after the New Year :D

  • I know u get all kind of look when u go out

  • @brionnakennedy HAHAHAHAHAHA! YES!!! I really don't pay it any mind but my friends tell me all the time and just think its hilarious when we go out but hey, I know my hair is different. No harm in looking, lol :D

  • LOL, very nice. I like the blog too, so much different from what I've seen in the past few years of natural blogs. Bookmarked it :-)

  • @Piscesplane7 Thank you so much. So glad you like our blog, your words are appreciated! Thank you again :)

  • wow... i keep hearing about this dry detangling... i've been experimenting with it...

  • @RochelleHansonMusic Yes, it definitely is not for everyone but you never will know until you try. Remember to keep plenty of oils on hand while dry detangling :)

  • patience is my problem. i get so frustrated. my hair's no super long but it's really thick, and it just drives me nuts... it seems like all of my time is spent detangling, and then once i'm done, it's tangled back up again. =p

  • your hairstyle in this video is a work of art. so prettyyy

  • @armfart890 Thank you :DDD Yes, I call my hair art as well! One of the ways I express my creativity is through my hair.

  • The videos are great and you both are funny and warm individuals!! I'm def subscribing!!! Thanks for all the info! :)

  • @FinePaulWalker Thank you so much. Your words are deeply appreciated. Thank you for subscribing :DDD

  • Cipriana, this is thre FIRST time I've actually seen my hair type AND texture on utube. my hair literally dreads when i wash it. Thank u so much for the inspiration and advice. i can't wait for more vids. U ladies R classy.

  • @MsNoraBlack Thank you so much!!! I knew there were ladies who can relate. Dreading is beautiful if that is the look that you want but unintentional dreading was something I did not want to happen, lol. Thank you again for watching :D

  • Thanks for these great tips!! I love y'all! I was cracking up when you were talking about detangling your hair while wet "strands getting real disrespectful" hahahahaha!! Too funny!!

  • @mimi504 Hahaha thank you so much. We are so glad you enjoyed and yes while I completely understand wet detangling works well for others for me it is a very different story! Thank you again :)

  • @hallokitty00 Between 22-24inches long :)

  • Your hair is so big and beautiful!!!!

  • @simonewilson410 Thank you so much :DDD

  • i resally love you guys & your blog!

I love how you guys always take the time to respond too.

    V. informative& insightful vid!

  • @cobainbride Thank you so much :))) Well you take the time to comment, the least we can do is thank you :)

  • Cipriana, I like your method of only using your fingers to dentangle, because even though tools like the denman and tangle teezer makes it a little easier and quicker, I think they cause unexplained broken hairs in the long run. Especially with type 4 hair. I've been noticed short sprigs of hair at my crown, and small broken peices. My ends seem to always need dusting no matter how well I trim or seal. I"m going to try this fingers only method for the rest of the yr, and see how my hair does.

  • @godsflame2 Yes I can relate my 4 range hair is extremely tightly curled. My hair is very kinky (kinky but beautiful, lol) plus coupled with major shrinkage and by major I mean anywhere from 50-70%. Wet detangling literally makes it impossible because my curls just shrink back up and curl around each other literally just tangling again right before my eyes. I know some women who are in the 4 range love wet detangling but I do believe (continued below :)

  • @godsflame2 it depends on the type of texture, shrinkage and porosity. I know some women have practically no shrinkage at all and have very little difficulties in wet detangling. I just find since not only am I in the 4 range, I do not have uniformed coily curls which some 4 range textures have, plus with shrinkage and my length it is easier to dry detangle. I would NEVER attempt to dry detangle without some type of oil but as I mentioned your favorite conditioner can be ...(continued below)

  • I am really loving these videos? When will you do more, Cipriana, I would love to see how you handle all of your hair! I have 4a/4b hair and I do a minor finger detangle on my dry hair. but don't put in twists prior to co-washing. I mostly detangle my hair while it's wet because its easier to get through, but I do believe I am suffering more breakage because of this. Do you ever use a comb at any point? I feel I need something like the denman or shower comb to help pull out the shed hairs?

  • @godsflame2 Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I actually only finger detangle. Finger detangling takes more work but for me produces a lot less breakage which mean fuller and longer hair. Everyone's hair is different but I am just sharing what works for me. We are going to do a video where it will actually show how I finger detangle. In the mean time if your hair is easier to detangle while wet how about....(completion of comment below)

    Cipriana

  • @godsflame2 using conditioner on your strands when you minor finger detangle. I dry finger detangle but always place oil on my hair before I attempt to finger detangle. Since I am not using water I would never attempt to finger detangle without some form of lubrication. Since your hair is easier to detangle while wet you might like to use conditioner on your strands before you attempt to finger detangle. Hope this helps :)

    UBB

  • @UrbanBushBabes To be honest, I've never really tried to finger dentangle all of my hair dry. I think I always believed it should be a wet? But, that you should just really be careful because it is in a weak state. But I watched a girls video on here(Reneicetv) showing how she completely dry detangles before water even touches her hair and I guess I didn't think it was possible. My hair is really thick and I have tight coils and kinks. I'm going try it with coconut oil( completed comment above)

  • yet another great resource! I'm loving your vlog here, and it's nice to see different textured ladies coming together and talking about haircare and their regimens. Cipriana is right...long, healthy hair takes work. Not only using care and good products but having a healthy diet and good attitude goes a long way. And yes, I've subscribed and am looking forward to getting to know y'all

  • @cocoabakerchica Thank you so much. We really wanted to show despite whatever texture you may have your hair can grow but everyones techniques and methods are different. Yes your right, "diet and a good attitude goes a long way", ain't that the truth!!! Thank you for subscribing and we are looking forward as well :)

    Cipriana

  • This video is really helpful. I had to cut my hair recently because after getting twists I wasnt careful and broke of some hair in the back (worst area, hard to reach with my huge head!). Anyway this video is teaching me what to do to prevent that again in the future. Thanks!

  • @msnnbc So sorry about the loss of hair in that area. I too had a very similar problem with that section in the nape area years ago. Thank you so much and so glad we can help :)

  • was natural for almost a year before i got a texturizer, which i now hate. at first it was fun but no longer. i suggest for finger detangling to not have excessively long nails or those stray dry cuticles. many times i would find hair tangled around a cuticle i hadn't even noticed before detangling. :( ...just a thought.

  • @Iamurvillian We are so sorry but hopefully you are on your way to a successful hair journey. Yes those are great tips!!! :) We actually did an article on our website on something similar about making sure your nail polish is not chipped when working with your hair.

  • Use tangle teezer

  • @ladyshols Oooooh I am monogamous to my methods, lol. I prefer to finger detangle but I'm glad if the tangle teezer works for others :)

    Cipriana

  • I am so happy I found you two! I love how you recount your hair practices! It has been extremely helpful for me. I especially love Cipriana talking about her hair because I have finally found someone on YouTube with hair like mine! Yea!! My hair is also extremely fine(like baby fine - the finest strands you can find!!) and dense, so detangling has been an issue for me and dry detangling works! Thnxs Cipriana! If my hair is wet these strands gonna snap right off when I detangle! Thnx for videos!!

  • @leeyung1 We are so happy you found us. No joke we love when people reach out so thank you and I am truly happy that you are finding methods that work for you because it took me years to really understand my hair and what would work. I am still discovering till this day but have a healthy regimen I am finally satisfied with. Us fine haired sistas really have to help one another because our hair is the most fragile so I am truly excited when a method works for others! Thank you again. -Cipriana

  • can't wait for more vids :) hopefully soon

  • @sincerelyemani Yes very very soon!!!

  • This video is sooooo funny. It makes me laugh all the time. It's like an SNL skit.

  • @WhereYaBoss Haha thank you, lol. We remember you! Love the SNL comparison because we are huge fans of SNL! We have to laugh at ourselves. Thank you so much for watching :)

  • @UrbanBushBabes You guys are great. More videos please!

  • @WhereYaBoss Thank you :DDD Yes we have more "SNL" in store, lol :)

  • Cipriana, my dear - until today I said I would never let my hair grow long because it's just too too thick. But your crown is inspiring me to go to new lengths. I'm glad I found you two. I'm looking forward to more wonderful videos. I like the vibe on this channel. Blessings...

  • @AfroTee Thank you so much we truly appreciate all your kind words but like we always say you inspire us! So glad you like the vibe of our channel we really are trying to create a space of positivity. Blessings as well and thank you again :)

    Cipriana

  • Just found you two and love your videos. However, I'd love to actually see work with a section of that beautiful hair.

I love your name...in college a group of dancer friends and I used to call ourselves, 'BushBabies' , after Urban Bush Women. Is that how you came to name yourselves Urban Bush Babes?

    Blessed Love,

    Lystra

  • @tmasala Hello, so glad you found us. Thank you so much and for watching and yes we will have more videos coming soon where we will be active with our hair :D

No that is not how the name came about have heard of the Urban Bush Women dance company and love them!

    Blessed Love as well :)

  • Idk why I'm just now seeing this! I'm subscribed to you! Love you guys and your blog! :)

  • @pinky90375 thank you love!!!

  • How long have you both been growing your hair?

  • @2PurpleStars6 I have been growing my hair out for 4 years and 8 months and Nikisha has been natural for most of her life but she truly started taking better care of her hair a little less then a year ago.

  • Great advice....the patience piece is so true and important. I also appreciate your petite verses big bone person comparison to our finer coilier hair strands

  • @Mohagonie Thank you so much. We really appreciate you taking the time to watch :D Yes without patience I would have ripped all my hair out long ago.

    Cipriana

  • nikisha your hair is getting longer. i compared u guys first video to this one and i see significant longer hair. keep doin what ur doin. yayz! :-)

  • @MsAfricanIndian Woo Hoo! We definitely will. Thank you so much for watching :)

  • omg cipriana show your hair out! ;-)

  • @MsAfricanIndian Yes videos coming, lol :)))

  • Just subscribed. Are you going to have new videos?

  • @DivaLady2b Thank you for subscribing. Yes we will :)

  • I love this video and all your videos. You two are great! I look forward to many more videos from you both. Still waiting for Nikisha's detangling video :) For some reason I don't get your youtube videos uploaded automatically as my other subscriptions. Do you know why?

  • @101Corkscrews Thank you ;DDD Nikisha's will be coming soon :) Oh really? We will have to investigate the automatic upload situation, that is not good :( Thank you for letting us know!

  • I am so glad you posted this. Cipriana, I can relate to my hair snapping right back to where it was when I detangle wet. So, I'm going to try and stretch my hair more and try to dry detangle my hair from now on because I am experiencing so much breakage (short hairs). This is very helpful, can't wait to see more videos. :) Thanks

  • "soul glo effect" lol. Great tips ladies.

  • @tyknos93 Thank you ;DDD xoxo

  • Wow! We have the SAME detangling process.

  • Hey both beautiful ladies, just wonder for you cipriana, what is your hair type and how heavy is it when its dry? like in an updo ? x

  • @MsLuLa94 Hello :) My hair type is a 4b-c and is not heavy at all in an updo style. My hair as a whole is very dense but the individual strands are superfine. xxx

  • I love you guys!

  • @TadanaV Thank you we love you!!! :D

  • I think it would have been more helpfulif cipriana showed us HOW she finger detangles.

  • @bellealfleure Yes for something like this I can see how a visual of me actually detangling would be more effective but since I haven't had the time I really wanted to provide information now that way it at least might provide some help to others until we begin our tutorial videos :)
