I've always admired your/Danel's music, and I would love to take lessons from you/him. Unfortunately I don't currently have internet acess, and can only watch these videos from the houses of my friends or from the library, which would be a huge obstacle.
I think it's significant that most of the greatest composers not only didn't have a college degree, they had no formal training in composition. J. S. Bach, Wagner, Brahms, Gerhard Richter, Wm. Walton, Eubie Blake, Poulenc, Paul Creston, Danny Elfman, Duke Ellington, Gershwin, Percy Grainger, Karl King, Cole Porter, George M. Cohan, and J.P. Sousa were all self taught.
Academic composers, however, are expert in turning out blague that no one wants to hear. Teaching creativity is impossible.
@ybravura I agree, music theory and degrees in music can assist composers in writing and reading music but as for creativity that is something that comes from within and cannot be taught. love all teachers that help people on youtube to become greater but I think on the whole if you eithr can choose to be derivative or creative and I choose the latter. Everyone has influences that come across through their works but to copy what teachers tell you is correct is ridiculous!
Thanks for sharing the awesome video. I wish you much success in your musical endeavours. I would love to add your video to my channel. Nice to meet you.
Thanks for sharing this :) It's such a shame i didn't have this when i was scraping through grade 5 theory, A level music (horrific) and aural tests generally .. it's such a wonderful idea to give proper thorough lessons in this aspect of music, which is often neglected.
I was just thinking the other day that I would like to find a book to read on music theory as I am such a novice. I am only a vocalist but there are times when I see things on sheet music that baffle me.
sir daniel i must say your video made me want to study music more and take it on college. thank you and i hope i have a chance to be one of your students. happy holidays!
