  • 9:18 it's an evil face in the bowl

  • Your cup of food was not full. You used a dry measuring cup for your liquid. You sir are going to be donating your food to the first bad guy that kicks your door in.

  • because you are pushing down...nevery mind, Holy crap, wrong way!

  • I like your forks

  • you are suppose to work that can opener toward you not away from you as you are useing it

  • @@@@@ IF YOU WANT TO TRY THIS BEFORE YOU BUY IT, HAMBURGER HELPER MAKES A VERY SIMILAR TASTING PRODUCT. CAN BE BOUGHT AT YOUR LOCAL SUPERMARKET @@@@@

  • What's with the half full can?

  • You are doing the knife thing wrong. You shouldn't go into the can so far. Use small fast movements.

  • give this to anybody in the uk and they will say its pot noodle!

  • The adding of hot water and covering is meant for emergency or camping situations. Its far better to cook freeze dried like any other food in a pot and cover. The noodles cook better, loose that bright yellow color, and the sauce come out thinner as it should be.

  • Trust me people, you have try the Chili Mac and Beef. I warn you, its addictive.

  • @Anothercoilgun you should try the free foods at 4longevity.myefoods.com they're really good too. You can try 12 meals for only the price of the shipping! If you decide to buy, the prices vary by the size of the package you buy, you could pay as little as $.91 per serving! They can sit on your shelf for 15 years before they begin to lose nutritional value.

  • my thoughts on the knife it is not what i will buy But i do a lot of can opening cooking for others and the food it is not of what i want either so good video thou

  • I watched this video a very long time ago, and it just popped into my head right now and I really wanted to watch it...

    ...I don't know why...

  • im sure some1 has probably already asked this, but im not american, and have never heard the term: "number 10 can", what exactly does this mean?

  • @gravey345 I think it refers to the size of the can. Wikipedia says it's an older measuring system but I guess it's still used. It says a #10 can will hold 110 ounces of room temp water. A #10 can is the big coffee can size.

  • Im sure its because the screw driver is on the same side the blade opens on. So it was simpler. Eh idk.

  • Man you made me hungry .

  • this vid made me hungry

  • get to it already, you jack wagon.

  • i thought #10 cans were bigger

  • @IBREAKJAWS Wikipedia says they are the size of a coffee can.

  • why did i watch this all the way through?

  • when i first saw this i was like ewwwwwww then i tried it the next day and i was like yum so ya that is my experience with beef stroganoff

  • Isn't he using the can opener backwards?

  • @biggrex He's lefthanded.

  • @biggrex

Try not pushing the can opener all the way down, so the tip stays above the can's lid. This will make a smoother cut and you don't have to worry about the tip getting caught under the lid (also much faster!).

    ak-cd

  • @biggrex Yes with those style can openers you work them backwards aroudn the can. Which is why he was having so many problems.

  • Can't believe I missed these videos earlier this year.

  • Hi. With the can opener you're doing it a bit clumsily, here's a video of how to use Victorinox can openers properly (note how the tiny screwdriver part never goes through the torn surface): [can't attach a link, search YT for "victorinox can opener"]. Also, I tend to put my index finger on the back of the opener instead of only holding the handle, so the lack of the lock is not a problem at all. BTW, thanks for all the videos and reviews, I like and watch your channel a lot, cheers!

  • I love Beef Stroganoff With Noodles. That is one of my favorite dishes. Great video, keep them coming. Thanks

  • damn jeff why do you have to make food sound so good. im sick right now and am dieing to eat somethig

  • Aw man i love beef strog. Been watching MRE and freeze dried food reviews for like two hours now and I'm so hungry lol. I gotta find out if the ready store ships internationally, get some mre's for various bags and kits.

  • Cutlerylover

  • I HAVE THE SAME RED CUP

  • its just a pot noodle

  • ....where's the beef.

  • Mountain house food is awsome. I have tried about 10 of their entres and they were all very good. I have since bought 12 cases of #10 cans (72 cans) for an emergency food store. A bit expensive but considering the taste, shelf life and the fact I wont have to rotate, it was worth every penny. "Emergency Essentials" website has always had the best price, especially when they go on sale!

  • try the openner in the other direction. Check out shaneshop (dot) net for mountain house foods

  • "It's probably gross sounding if you are anorexic." :P

  • This is great, i've actually had this stuff before, and my GRANDMOTHER told of times when she and her children had to go for month's with Mountain House food. I think this is a great video, and if anybody doesnt like it, 'THEN DONT WATCH IT', you'd be fun to camp with!

  • please don't go off topic next time.

  • Oregon Freeze Dried/Mountain house guarantees a freshness of 25 years on their foods in #10 cans. As far as the freshness goes, I've been told by the company rep via email that products ordered directly from the Mtn. House website are no older than six months! They often runs sales on their #10 cans every six months or so (you do the math) and you can get some great deals! Even IF the product was half a year old, you would have probably more that YOUR OWN life's expectancy in your food!

  • I LOVE BEEF STROGANOFF

  • please make a video when you break ground on the bomb-shelter. thanks in advance!

  • the can opener dosent lock because it needs to flex in order to work properly.

it's dumb and i think it should lock as well but ah well lol.

    that's my best assesment

  • nice video man, i sub, comment, like all ur videos :)

  • why open a whole can when you could just open a 2 person bag. but great video and keep up the good work.

p.s more edc items would be great.

  • you my friend are ready for 2012 haha

    btw make more zippo vids

  • ur awesome man! not to get to personal but are u like marred and have kids just wondering =)

    Jason

  • the beef stroganoff is nuts good. I have like 30 pouches. I just buy a few mountain house pouches when i go shopping. these are the best things ever. EVER!!!

how was your service from the readystore jeff? I have been thinking about ordering from there.

  • @SPCkeith were do you by it and were could i get buy some from?

  • were could i punches this or similar products. You see i am a growing teen and i seen this so i thought it would be a cheap and easy way to make some fast meals witch would last longer.

  • this video should be called "the spy eats his lunch". ... lol inside joke

  • I like the silverware.

  • i have that knife but i bought it under the name "one hand trekker". Exactly the same knife except with different scales. If you got that off countycomm you got ripped off. 50 bucks for their version vs 27 bucks free shipping and free victorinox classic on amazon...

  • Hey there. I think your can opener problem is going to go away with time. Simply keep using it and don't push it as deep into the can as you do. I have been using my victorinox can opener since 11 years and i can now open a can faster than an ordinary kitchen opener.

Ah. and it's actually much faster with bigger cans:)

Good luck and thanks for all the vids you make!

  • Don't be so damn picky :) jk

  • The Forks! Very cool, where can I get some of those?

  • Aside from the quality of all your videos, I also really like the tableware you use in the food reviews. Do you happen to know what the pattern is?

  • hungry for the fresh stuff now never had it but it looks delicious other probably tastes good but looks awful lol

  • i actually dont hear you chewing. which is good for your health. lol my family hears me whine about the chewing sounds ALL THE TIME. anyways, thanks for your vids, they rock, and we all know it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • now eat it dry

  • In Sweden we use sausage, ketchup, sourcream and stuff.. atleast our family do :) pretty good! and we use either pasta or potatoes for it.

  • @nvrmndknasen sounds good!

  • @cl6002k5 it's awesome! though I don't think you have the "right" sausage for it, but I think a variant could work just as good :-) if you wanna try it and there is a swedish section, look for "falukorv" :)

  • @nvrmndknasen

Being that I live in NY...we have people from every culture. If I go into NYC, I could defiantly find it. If I feel like cooking one day, I will give it a try!!

  • nom

  • i like your forks

  • @zhaneranger and food reviews too!

  • This looks like a recipe made for an alcohol stove if I have ever seen one, @cutlerylover check out Mini Bull Designs

  • Is that just like a giant cup noodles? dry noodles, powder flavoring, and dry meat? I dunno if cup noodles is freeze dried or not, but they seem similar?

    Thanks! =)

  • 6:15 thats ehat she said lol i love those forks by the way

  • LOL ...LMAO I knew it!!! Cutlerylover is gonna gain 20 pounds on the food testing videos

Was the can that low on product when you opened it? Looks like mountanhouse could fit more product in that no10 can

  • @dsarti1 cans are packed by weight, only had one bowl for this vid thats it, the food I open for videos get sent to co-workers and friends to try before they go bad, I dont eat it all

  • @cutlerylover also its alot when u add water :D

  • @dsarti1 it looks like its packed halfway so you can fill the can up w/ water to make the entire can at once. The instructions say to add 8 cups of hot water to make the whole can and it looks like that should just fit

  • @dsarti1 live him alone.... what did he do to u?

  • @dsarti1 what did he do to u

  • @dsarti1 coming from a 500lb guy...

  • LOL ...LMAO I knew it!!! Cutlerylover is gonna gain 20 pounds on the food testing videos

  • great review i went out and bought some and its great but i think the hamburger helper taste better depends on how u cook the hamburger helper version for me if u use less water its very creamy.

  • it's definitely survival food for $26.20 a can and once you open it you got a week to eat it.

  • u should of tested the blade by stabing the can once or twice lol

  • cool always nice to know how bad emergency food would taste if you ever have to eat it.

  • tbh it looks like something your dog trew up. I do not want to sound arrogant but Americans making food reviews? No offense intended but you people would stuff anything down your throats as long as its fat, spicy, sweet and fills up your belly... spend some time in europe you won't ever touch that vomit with a ten feet pole again.

  • @masterdurchgriff first of all this isn't an american dish... Its russian.. second of all this is an emergency food review... Meaning people don't eat this stuff regularly. People like you are so ignorant.

  • @Mhzer0

Indeed it is emergency food, I never said otherways, but he isn't reviewing its aspects related to survival; he is reviewing the taste and the appearence.. What ever the original dish is called and that it is russian I did'nt dispute and again has nothing to do with the matter. Simply put, this crap should'nt even be compared to anything like a beef stroganoff and if you don't understand that well talking 'bout the pot calling the kettle black.

  • u just made want some of Stroganoff i am thinking to get one on weekend

  • Put some ballistol on that chair!!! You know you wanna.

  • that looks like REALLY good, but i just can't stand mushrooms :( so i think i'll just stick with the cinnamon apples, haha

  • what exactly does it mean that its a number ten can?

  • We leftys like these locking SAKs

  • You've probably answered this before in other food reviews, but where did you get those awesome forks?

  • @jmacksamie I got them from a friend their from Pottery Barn very nice but probably overpriced as is most of the stuff from that store

  • @jmacksamie omg i have those forks too! i got em at kohl's:P haha probably not the exact same ones

  • @jmacksamie love them too

  • yay were getting back to the food reviews

  • I just ate dinner, you made me hungry again >:(

  • were did you get your forks they are cool looking!?

  • I haven't noticed the chair, I'll have to listen carefully next time I watch one of your videos.

    Thanks for the review!

  • you've put in the description that it's a Saratoga Farms™ brand i thought that it was mountain house?

  • try opening the can the other way.. and they made the lock that way because of the knife blade locked and well they would have to change the design to make the can opener on the other side.. and they didnt want to do that..

  • the blue bags are really good for backpacking but do u have anything more compact tht u can find so it is easier to pack nice vid jeff though

  • i took the mountain house beef stew and it was horrible! it had tiny chunks of meat and potatoes and it had no broth! i felt ripped off.

  • I haven't run into the can opener problem with my One-Hand Trekker (basically same knife, but different scales). However, I haven't used it on a big #10 can, only "standard size" soup cans.

  • looks good cant wait to try it

  • i was thinking about your emergency series and wanted to make a note to the smokers out there: you should have a few packs or whatever you deem necessary in your kit , because in times of stress not having your fix will make it worse

  • how does it taste dry

  • These food videos are my favorite!

  • DUDE, I totally called you saying hamburger helper... I mouthed it before you even said it, mostly just because it looked like it, though.

  • @nickbownz haha

  • Can you eat that stuff right out of the can like that or does it need to be cooked?

  • @AllTweakendLong yes, but it will suck the moisture out of your body so you need water with it either way...best tase is prepared like this...

  • @cutlerylover how can it suck the water out of your body if ur body is going to absorb the water back out of it later ive always wonderd how that works?

  • how long does it last after you open it?

  • sense my dad is croatian and so is my grandpa

my mom makes itts for us yumm

  • i love the fork design

  • haha look apatising :L:L

    sorry carnt spell

  • beef stroganoff is my favorite meal, i ask my mom to make it just about every day, lol

  • non-locking can opener - seems like a huge deal to me! Just a bad oversight on their part!

  • I love beef stroganoff! Btw, those forks are cool as all get out!

  • wtf? theres freeze dried ice cream sandwiches

  • I don't think you are suppose to push the can opener all the way through. That will get it to hang up on the small screwdriver tip. Use it like a saw. Mountain house makes good stuff. A bit pricey but good. Nice video.

  • Russian dish? i didnt know dishes could be in a hurry XD

  • This is my favorite.

  • why not just buy some packets of easymac?

  • what happens if you just pour water in the entire can?

  • Great review. I love your food reviews. That should be new videos. Food review by

  • Nice video, good comparison. Out of curiosity where did you get the forks? I like the handles.

  • @biguy525 thnaks they were given to me, they are from Potteryt Barn and probably overprived, lol, but I do love them...

  • Jeff don't apologize for any chewing noises we may hear, the correct way for a foot taster to taste food is to chew with the mouth open, it mixes the air with the food and lets the air mouth through your nostrils so you get a better taste !! Good Review mate, love from the UK.

  • Compared to a frozen beef Stroganoff (if you have had any) which is better?

  • Lol, it's like a giant pot noodle..

  • No lock == cheaper.

Also, more people will use the screwdriver more often compared to the can opener.

  • man, every youtube video is so slow today.. buffering, buffering. argh! Anyway, nice vid. Love victorinox tools.

  • it looks like thrown up^^

i think i would not eat it - except i am starving :P

  • u need a wide angle lense badly

  • i love your food reviews!

  • I'm hungry

  • i have it 2

  • Im not into canned food but those forks are cool as heck.

  • Don't you have pot noodles in America? I think some of the flavours have meat in

  • @nick000bristow any eready to go meals always have directiosn to use fresh groudn beef bought sepratly...I ahve never seen any meals with meat in it on the shelf...

  • your not supposed to put the can opener right through the can. just push it in up to the little screwdriver on the end

  • so do u keep this in the frezer an take it out when u wanan eat it ?

  • @curtispa this stays on a shelf, doesnt need cold at all

  • Reminds me of pot noodles. I'm hungry now

  • You can buy these in single and two serving sizes to try before you buy

  • kool fork and spoon ;-)

  • it looks like my shit

  • @sanskimost911 I guess you already had some then...lol

  • @cutlerylover lol

  • cool Jeff

  • to be honest ive never seen someone open a can the old fashioned way lol

  • they sould really do a viktorynox soldier non suratted

  • @hardwear10

there is one but its kinda hard to find

  • cool fork

  • maybe you should write an E-Mail to Victorinoxand complain (because if it's a design flaw, the more people complain, the more it will be likely that they fix it soon)? Maybe yours is defect (I don't think so)? Because the backsprings normally lock quite well. But maybe they screwed the design up. This weak lockup kinda defies the useability of the tool. :-/

Freeze dried meals are kinda cool, and they taste OK for "fast food". I recently tried the brand "Farmer's Outdoor". Expensive but tasty.

  • doesnt look anything like the real thing lol

  • sorry jeff i'm not directing this only to you but when ever i watch american movies you guys always say "really good" but it sound so gramaticaly wrong! but that not why i saying this i find it funny alittle bit i guess it like us (australian) saying "aye yous get over ere now" anyway nice vid not trying to be rude just a comment

  • @jaxstalker its ok I feel the same way hearing some other people talk

  • food?lol not wood

  • why are you reviewing wood

  • @superbloody24 listen more carefully

  • I have the new Soldier as well, the only reason I could think of was the knife and the cap lifter/pry bar uses the same liner, if you look into the tool when you have the knife and cap lifter open its the same spring that runs down the entire length of the tool that locks both open.

  • Thx for the vid. I actually have that same meal can. Now that you opened it you gotta eat the entire thing within 3 months tho. Thx for the sacrifice.

  • @biga816 once opened these meals are good for a year, but yes I know I sacraficed it for the video I dont mind...aty leats I know I like it in case I want to buy another can to store
