I don't know why they thought they could top this movie when they made the remake with Sharon Stone. This is a masterpiece of movien making from the first frame to the last. And nobody could play Gloria (as we saw with Sharon) like Gena Rowlands could. She truly rocked this film. Pure genious.

@Snafflefilms thank u. this is one of my favorite movies. greatest of all time. gritty but beautiful. gena was at her best. she deserved that oscar nomination. i wish they would put it back on youtube again.

this is the theme from the opening titles: absolutely stunning movie and gena rowlands has never been so gorgeous and good.

I think it was a decent movie, though admittedly, JC didn't care near as much for it as his other films. He did it specifically because Gena wanted to play an archetypal 'strong woman'.

Music was perfect for the movie and I love them both. The opening scene with Manhattan by night is great. The last makes me almost cry, the music and all the love between them is wonderfull.
