Srsly, That rule means horrible drawers arent allowed to make anything pretty by using a base You prefer "raw creativity" but I don't think its fair to force your preference on your fans It's FAN art Be appreciative not picky

Bases have little to do with creativity anyway Its moreso to help ppl who cant draw well But even if its uncreative I still find it unfair to rule it out Its like saying art means nothing unless its raw creativity

Isnt it the thought that counts?

@LindenBree I've never used a base, and look at me. I'd rather see artwork worse than a base than a base I've seen a thousand times over. My site isn't a "DeviantArt" for people to post whatever they want. If people truly like WHOOKOS, A.E., etc, then they are welcome to post ACTUAL fanart on our site. I'm not being picky. I'm being realistic.

@WHOOKOSMedia I didn't mean a base was necessary. Obviously they're not exactly NEEDED. But it takes practice to draw well without a base and I think realistically, not every one of your fans wants to be a wonderful artist. In my opinion, you're forcing them to try to be one if they want to do something nice like fan art, which I find unfair. To me, your site should be a "DeviantArt" so long as it has to do with Whookos. But meh, it is your site, not mine. I disagree, but I'll stop whining now.

@WHOOKOSMedia So wait, bases are banned, but recolors aren't? Now I'm not exactly all for bases, but I find recolors to be positively uncreative. At least when people use bases, they try to put some effort into it (usually, haw), but taking someone else's work (in this case, yours), putting it in paint and coloring it over badly and submitting it to your site while calling it 'original art' is downright pathetic. And from what I've seen, it's happened quite often on your site. :B

@LindenBree Fanart, no matter how horribly drawn, will ALWAYS be welcomed by the person/people the fanart is for. It also means the person who drew the fanart took the time and effort to make something from scratch. Bases are just a shortcut and are less appreciated because over half the work was already done by someone else. If you want it to look pretty, do it, learn it, practice it, and create it yourself on your own two feet (or in this case two hands).

Yes bases are shortcuts. The fact they made anything though should be appreciated. Say, someone hired an interior decorator for someone. That's a BAD thing because they didn't learn interior decorating themself?

@LindenBree The thing is, it's not the ability that counts, it's the thought that has been put into it, it's art because they've put effort into it, art is a self expressive thing as well, base limit someone and don't let them work as hard, i'm not saying bases are wrong, but for fanart, even if you're not amazing, it should be more of something from the heart than from a base you found on the internet, then it's just lacking who you are in the art

@LindenBree I'm not forcing anyone to do anything. If people WANT to draw fan art for my site, they can. But I'm allowed to put rules up for the FanDome if I want to. It's my site. Not once have I took artwork down because it was bad. Bad or good, as long as it relates to !US! Studios, it can stay on the site. But bases aren't allowed. I'm not "wrong" for putting up a no base rule. It's what I, and the other members of !US! Studios, prefer. That's just how it is.

@LindenBree I understand the frustration. You want something to look pretty but you don't have the skill? Every artist has and can still feel that. However, if you are able to make fanart look pretty then the receiver of the fanart will recognize that you have skill and know your stuff, but that doesn't mean they will like it any more than "unpretty" fanart. It all gets appreciated equally, as long as you work hard and put effort into it. And in my opinion, base fanart isn't pretty.

@CRYPTKILLER97 You can do that if you'd like. I doubt I'd be able to post it on the website. I'd have to make a whole new section for that. If I were to ever receive a lot of fan animations, then I'd probably make a section for them in the future.
