  • My ex fiancee (who is still a very close friend) was diagnosed with scoliosis in his teens and underwent surgery when he was 16. I wish so much I could have been there with him, but at the time we'd not met. I think you are extremely brave for what you went through.

  • this is a good video but it only tells your experience , other people have different experiences for example as soon as i woke up i could have a slice of toast . I lost too much blood in the surgery so i had a blood transfusion and i was in icu for 3 days . i then slowly recovered and on the 5h day i could sit up i thn got trained to walk agian and on the 9th day i ould get let home !x i went back to school 3 months later. I gradually built up strengh and i got back to my dancing in 12 months!x

  • i had the surgery and they fused my whole spine. I could eat the day after, and i learned to walk a few steps the day after. the doctors told me to sit as much as i could! and i could get out of bed and stuff, and a week after the surgery i came home. i could walk normally, and do almost everything myself. after 3 weeks i came back to school and i didnt have to wear a brace at all.. Sry for my english but im 13years and swedish ..

  • P.s god bless u all with scoliosis and in just thankful I don't hav spineibifida

  • Same, my curve was 60 degree's I had the toilet Thimbu but I was made to eat food after 3 days of surgery and they weren't baby size portions and I only had to stay off school for a month and my Surgon said I didn't have to wear a brace after surgorey, I had to go to intensive care though I guess I am really lucky and it's probably Cos I live in da UK

  • Omg my spine was 60 degrees but i didn't have go in a wheel chair or wear a back brace!I didn't even have to have that toliet thingy! I guess I 'm Really lucky because my scoliosis surgery didn't have any complications! God Bless You! and all of the people that got surgery are so Brave! Love Ya!!!

  • I had to have this surgery and trust me...it is well worth the pain. I was at an 82 degree curve and tried the brace and all for a while but its like a bandaid on a gunshot. I had sculiosis and kyphosis. Surgery should always be last option but its not the end of the world. life is a lot easier after:)

  • I had this done 6 weeks ago. It was extremely rough, not going to lie. At first it seems like you'll be in pain and slow forever, but it gets better with time, and although its hard as hell, anyone can do it. I'm 6 weeks out and I feel pretty good most days, I can walk at a normal pace, and I'm doing physical therapy at the moment which also helps. I can also go out and be social just like I used to, and no once notices anything different. Life will return to normal, it takes time though.

  • I've had almost 16 surgeries pertaining to the knees but I cried when I saw this video of yours cos I know it must have been really such a painful journey, given my experience.

  • I don't know if you'll respond since it's been 4 years, but would you recommend it for someone who has scoliosis but DOESN'T need the surgery? I was thinking about it but after this I'm changing my mind lol!

And ignore people who tell you to stop being negative about the surgery, you're letting them know what's ahead.

  • i had the surgery and think this video is awesome. i had so many questions unanswered before i went in and if i saw this video before hand i would have felt so much better. thanks for not sugarcoating it :) it's a pretty freakin serious surgery and it hurt like hell afterwards even after your almost healed up. its weird though cus i never had a brace after the surgery and went home 3 days later and back to school the next month.

  • @Tatterddoll , I have scoliosis and I'm 11.. normally you wear the brace when your young , because if you get surgery when your young, you may not be done growing (trunk height) so thats why they make you wear a brace, so it doesnt get any worse, Peope say when your around 16 or 17, your done growing, pretty much, and thats wen most people get surgery, hope i helped:)

  • Hmm. I have scoliosis. But I wear a brace so it won't get worse. But I thought you are supposed to get surgery so you don't need to wear a brace???

  • I had this surgery back in 2005 and everything went fine. Was out of hospital in 9 days and I did not need any in home care. No braces or anything, I had a home school teacher for 10 weeks and no contact sports for 6months. Its really not as bad as it appears in this video, but is still a very serious surgery. My curve was at 92 degrees going in and now its at 30ish degrees! its incredible, only stink thing is afterwards you cant do forward rolls :(

  • So basically you're just scaring people -_-

  • aky19832001, your a dumbass, somtimes scoliosis can be improved or slowed down by what youve described but it cant be treated and you think that having surgury is taking the easy way out?really what about ppl like me who didnt know that they had scoliosis untill it was too late for anything else. i didnt have many obvious signs. when i found out i had scoliosis i had a 72 degree curve Which was already crushing my lungs. u think it was easy to go through months of physical therepy? screw you.

  • This video is not to make people scared of this surgery but to let them see what will happen and there is a need for that for those who will have this surgery....it helps them see what will happen and that alone helps. i might have to have this surgery and this video Helps me alot cause all the vids on youtube about scholiosis were about the people that had it not the surgery it self...so i think this video shows what needs to be doen and what will be doen so this wont be as hard for the person!

  • Hi There! I might have to take the surgery cause my scholiosis is at 37% or was still waitign to see if my newst X-Ray to let me know whats happening. But my spine is starting to twist around and its scary to think of it but i would need this surgery cause i've tried every thing eles and pain killers are not always going to work so i was wondering if there is any one that has had this surgery i can talk to cause im really scared about this and not knowing if i will go to surgery or not !

  • First of all i think you should remove this video and make a new one. Techniques have been improved, and there are almost no risks anymore. I'm going to have an operation, and think it isnt such a big thing as youre telling here. Sorry!

  • @ArmfulOfTigerLilies There are still a lot of risks! Paralysis, the spine might fail to fuse and you have to have the surgery again, infections, major blood loss, problems can occur with the rods and the screws. Its very risky! So sorry! You're wrong!

  • @TheCCcheerleader Mij docter said that there is only 0,5% chance that there goes something wrong. And they say that because there could go something wrong, although nothing went wrong with the 200 operations they did before.

  • yup worst pain of my life. im curios about the people who had the pain before the surgery and still after. i never felt a thing :/ i just had the appearance of it.

  • heyy i had this surgery too... the only thing that sucks after is the pain you get. but it goes away trust me. to whoever is going to get it dont feel scared. i got out of the bed the next day after my surgery. yeah the doctors were all like wow thats impressive. but really all i wanted to do was get back to my life like nothing happened. its a long surgey but you feel like you just took a 10 minute nap. :)

  • I had this done. and this video exagerates alot! i didnt need any thing that this video is saying after the surgery. sooo i fyou need the surgery, so worry, it is NOT this bad at alll!

  • i have 3 curves: 27, 18, and 8 degrees. I was diagnosed at age 12 and I'm 17 now and they STILL ain't done nothing for me.. i'm always in pain and its hard to move. i've taken physical therapy TWICE already.. :(

  • @jmk2011 look at alternative treatment for scoliosis! search youtube for "Clear scoliosis treatment"

  • sorry, but i had surgery two weeks ago and im fine, they said i was a fast recovery but still, its not bad atall i ate the day after surgery and sat up and walked 2 days after. i dont need any of the things you said i needed and i dont need 24 hour care, im perfectly able to do it all by myself so anyone whos getting the surgery dont let this scare you atall :) if i saw this video befre my surgery i probally wouldnt go through with it haha but really the only thing is that you get tired easily:)

  • Sad, makes me want to be a surgeon.

  • no one warns you of the pain that follows, i had a catheter during the surgery, this was in 2002 - i have had bladder infections ever since and am now having surgery on my bladder because of it. Weather its because of the catheter or because of the surgery all my organs are in the wrong place they don't know. The surgery helps make u look straighter but my ribs protrude on 1 side now, 1 of my legs is 2 inches longer than the other and my growth is stunted on 1 side of my body.

  • I was diagnosed at 10 - i had an 86% curve by 11 and was bumped up public waiting list. there were complications with my surgery as my spinal cord was hooked around my spine - i had my 1st surgery to unhook my spinal cord and was in hospital for 3 weeks, after which i was at home for 2 months. I was again in hospital for the removal of 5 of my ribs and the insertion of 2 steel rods and 8 bolts. I was in hospital for a month and a half and had to learn how to walk again. Worst pain of my life!

  • Some people say they would rather suffer or die instead of having this surgery done i totally disagree. There are risks in any surgery. But i have learned that if my daughter would of never had it done she would of died within a few years. why?, her spine would of compressed against heart & lungs. Making it hard for her to breathe.I would suggest to get it done. It saved her life..

  • Jan 11 2010 my 16 yr old daughter had her surgery done from scoliosis. Six yrs ago she was diagnosed but was far too gone to get help with a brace. She is now 98/100% corrected. Took nearly 9 hrs of surgery . She was 5.6 now she is 5.9 and everything is a little lower for her reach. She can now sleep good on both sides .

  • Die than to have my spnial colmn, bolted like that with screws, Its not the end of the world ladies gents, TRAIN YOUR BODY AND STOP BITCHING

I just provided with free advice, anything here after should be charged for.

  • collison with a Truck that compressed everything, Fast foward 7 years! my scoliosis has been reduced by 60%!! yes you read correct. and the disc herniation have not gotten worse.

I train daily! and stretch out daily! I use the inversion table, and I train my back like a mad man. Look at my physque you would never guess I had severe scolioses but I did and I got over it through blood, sweat and tears.

So stop spewing non sense and promoting the easy way out, but truth be told I'd rather

  • @aky19832001 "The easy way out"? You're a joke. If you think this is the easy way out, you are a moron. I guarantee you I worked out harder on my health and physique than you, and I had to get the surgery because my curve kept progressing and I couldn't even continue working out. I had the surgery and lost 30lbs of my hard earned progress in the gym, and now I'm 9 months post-op and still can't return to the gym to gain my physique back. If this is the easy way out, then you're delusional.

  • Mr Boeingbus, Hear me out. I speak the turth, nothing but the truth. Ive been involved in sports for many years, and ive busted my ass in schooling, and I know that scolioses can be treated using daily training, stretching and decompressing of the spinal vertebrea!!

When the core muslce are strong so is everything else. I to suffer from scolioses one curviture in the throaci, lumber and neck vertebrea!! if you had looked at my old x-rays/ct scans, you would think I was involved in a head

  • @allie

At no point, should you ever make statements regarding medicinal treatment and health. Your statements are dangerous and reckless.

I am in a position to make statements with respect to medicine because I HAVE THE EDUCATION.

Its ignorant people like your self who feel to need to inject your liberal BS. That surgery was uncalled for, and doctors who perform this surgery, now damn well that this is a bogus procedure. Ive seen patient in my hospital regret this procedure. Please run along

  • @aky19832001 well thats nice, my mother and my doctor both have dr. degees and they recomended sergery, allie is right dont label this to everyone. and you cant really contol getting scoliosis, scoliosis is a genetic disease that can get progresavly worse sergery is the one fast and permanant way to correct scoliosis. and oh my god must you be so condesending!

  • I never found out about it untill I was involved in an accident, and had taken x-rays. Im 5'11, 240 with low percentage bodyfat, due to my obsessive training regimine. When my Dr saw the exrays, he couldnt belive what he was looking at. Because bcased on physical examine, you would never tell.

Ive got to limits that no human could have gone to stretch out and decompress the back, and wow! all those years I thought back pain was normal but it wasn't . I retook xrays and my back had remolded !

  • Getting surgey should be a crime.

At no point should any human get this type of surgey if they are able to walk and move.

    1-Excercise!

    2-Visit the Chiropractor regullary

3.-Stay light and fight, don't ever eat

4- Constantly stretch out, and decompress your back your self using the inversion table, stiff mattress, breathing exercises

    5-pilates

6-Train your abdominal, particular your lower abs

7-Always stretch your back every 3 hours

I personally have scoliosis in the thoracic and lumbar area

  • Comment removed

  • @aky19832001 being light and fit has NOTHING to do with scoliosis. when a person gets it as a kid they dont know to stretch and do scroth excersizes and breathing, (went through all) maybe yours is small, or even enough to live with painlesley just doing those things. but u have no right labiling that onto everyone. surgery is a last resort, not a easy scapegoat. no one would put themselves through that without massive pain and deformity as a motive. i also personally have scoliosis in T and L

  • @aky19832001 I was a gymnast and equestrian before my diagnosis and subsequent surgeries. I was 4'9 and weighed 85 pounds. One cannot change the way ones bones grow. Leave the doctoring to those who actually see their patients with their eyes. If left untreated, scoliosis can literally squeeze ones heart and lungs until they pay the ultimate price--it isn't always as simple as exercise and weight.

  • To LilJohn and Ihsdixiedoll I agree but for people like me(kyphosis) who have had this surgery and didnt get any pictures done its cured my curiosity to know what my spine kinda looks like besides seeing it through x-rays and MRIs.

  • mehnnn this is one good story of survival... i was out of school for only a month though.

  • I've had the same operation about 5 weeks ago, but can you maybe tell something about your operation??????

  • Lies, this is not the most major surgery anyone could have. There's brain surgery, far more dangerous. And too be frank, this video kinda scared the crap outta me.

  • @MissNotNormal I've had the same operation about 5 weeks ago and it's really not that scary, this person just had the worst things which could happen, it's definitely not nice to have that operation, but it's not that worse

  • @MissNotNormal without the spine you pretty much are dead due to the fact that the spine carries out and brings back the signals that your brain sends out and recives.

  • i have got this i am a 16 year old boy but mine isnt that bad i have been to the doctors and they was not worried hopefully mine isnt bad but they are sending me to a specilist. i dont suffer severe back pain or shoulder pain just rib pain. but i have researched that it happens in 3 in 1000 children rarely in boys. i can still do everythingelse i am just small. lol i also do alot of contact sports such as boxing nd football lol thnx anyway kool vid bit scary tho like if i need a op

  • My wife had the surgery(spinal bifidah/ascholiosis)when she was a kid then she broke a rod when she was 12 so she had it re-done and during that procedure the surgen's hit a nerve causing her to have a dead leg/partially paralized so she uses crutches to get around. Its a rough surgery...

  • Take care of yourself @xXxn1kk1xXx

  • Bless your heart! I hope you are okay now. I'm about to have surgery... but nothing like this!!! Thanks for sharing.

  • well, thank you for being so honest and realistic!

it's scary true. but if it has to be done, it has to be done...

  • Does the surgery help?

cause i want it but i dont want it at the same time, if you get me?

  • had scoliosis, had surgery when I was 15 7 years ago, still have it but much less. My back isn't that flexible anymore and the surgery was painful but it had to be done. It's not as bad as they make it seem though. I had a second surgery because my wound kept bleeding so thye had to remove all the blood from the wound.

  • thank you for this video - im 24 and i am from Ireland - i would love 2 get this op.(im over 40 deg.) - did it take you long to recover?

  • if u have scholiosis can u do gymnastics

  • -_-' wtf is this? hey everybody scoliosis is the most terible thing in life, i had the most paiful surgery of all times etc... defenetly this operation IS the most painful of all...EVERYBODY LOOK AT ME LOOK AT MY SCARS I RISKED MY LIFE HEY EVERYBODY LOOK AT ME MY LOUNG COLLAPSED WTF???YOU ARE PATHETIC! grow yourself some balls and stop complaining! do you need people to look at this to feel like a hero or what? you are scaring the kids 4 the sake of your ego

  • GNARLY!! x10~! WOWZA! My friend has this condition but she hasnt had any surgery though. I bet it feels weird to be straight after being crooked for so long! Has to be a good feeling!

  • I had my surgery last week and today I went shopping then played outside in the sprinkler with my nephew. Some people have a hard recovery but some, like me, are fine quite quickly. I didn't have to have a brace, I was allowed to and I am eating normally and the only thing I have to help me is a raised toilet seat.

  • I had this - an amazing difference, helped my lungs, and i grew taller :D guys wanting this, it can be seriously worth it. Good luck anyone going through this, it can be so beneficial

  • I had this surgery too the scariest thing i ever seen ,the scar is really disgusting at the first days now [half year after yay me :D] looks much better =]]] good luck at life =]

  • I like your video because it was very informative. I see why this is scary to other viewers but it is good to have all the information about treating and recovering from scoliosis. This video was very honest and you did not try to hide anything about your journey. Thank you for this well thought out video.

  • @StephanieAbsolution i agree with u. i even had this surgery and i wasnt scared

  • You completely made it sound so horrible. I hope no one watches this before their surgery and freaks out. Your video is one of the worse case scenarios. I did have to get my lung deflated and I wasn't supposed to sit up the day of, but I did (I didn't like sleeping on my back so I just raised the the bed. The nurses wasn't the happiest about it, but they just monitored me closer). The morphine was the best!!! LOL.

  • @Tcmmur lol oh wow. i had the surgery and i wasnt so happy with my parents (guess why)

  • My sister is having his surgery on June 29. I think I'm more scared than she is.

  • @suggaface Don't be. It'll be fine. Its really more cut and dry than it seems. Don't worry about the details just take her plenty of movies to watch. And Pray for a speedy recovery

  • At end you say no school for many months my friend went back to school 4 weeks after surgery but no back pack and parents took her and back from school

  • i did some of these things but ur making it sound worse then it is... i went back 2 school at one month and i lived 45 mins away from the hospital and i got a drive back home..but i like the video anyways..

  • aaaa thnx!!!!!! your video made me feel a lot better

  • mu surgery is in 12 more days......i'm scared... I HOPE IT GOES WELL...I juse can't be scared infront of my family,, so i'm not and they think i'm brave...but they can't see how i feel inside....scared and about to burst out crying... BUT nice video...atleast ur brave...

  • Hey! Just want to say Good Luck to you and that you will do great! :) I had the operation in 2006 and am now back into sport and doing all the normal things you will be doing too - having fun! :) Dont be afraid to show your feelings or bottle them up inside - your family will understand that you are scared, its totally understandable and doesnt make you any less brave. I remember the night before my op - I ended up reading a silly kids book to help take my mind off it! Take care-Youll be great!

  • thank you for sharing this experience with us. You've been through a lot! I wonder if any older adults have had this surgery. I've seen little old ladies who have this and they are all tangled up in the back. Some scoliosis lays low until the person is a grown up, and then rears its ugly head when you have responsibilities of providing for a family. I have constant back pain everyday with a click and a pop and a stretch and a twist and a crunch..owie!

  • I had my surgery 35 days ago. I had a 42 degree curve ,. I didnt think that it was going to hurt that much but now im fine and absolutely happy for having the surgery. You have to be strong and think that in a few days you are gonna be fine ! :)

  • I just had this surgergy 3 weeks ago .. it is a really scary process and im not going to lie and say it was easy, because it definitely was not! But only a wee bit into my recovery i can see such a difference in my body and know that it is going to be worth it in the end. Good luck to anyone who is about to have this done.. i know exactly what it feels like. It's easy for others to say that they understand how you feel, but really they don't.

  • im 13 and probably will have to get it and the doctors said i would only have to be out of school for 3 weeks and didnt say i had to get any of those other things but maybe yours was worse or something

  • Hey I am 21 yearsold and I had spinal fusion surgery on my lower back when I was 13, I had a 56 degree curve . I had he side incision. I watched this video and my surgery was not this bad. I was out of school for three weeks but then again it was the last three weeks of school so I just kept low that summer. Depending on he degree and place of the curve makes a difference

  • o yes I DO NOT regret he surgery, prior o suregery i wore a back brace 23 hours a day for three years and had horrible back pain. I cant see my scar anymore and the only this I notice is a little numbness on my inner left leg, but it is so worth it.

  • I have a 43 degree curve and I dont know if i should wait until it gets to be 50 degrees to have the surgury or not.

  • this video is a little sick. you made it terrifying to anyone getting the surgery

  • @lhsdixiedoll It's the truth, people need to know the truth.

  • @archigaga yeah but all those risks are so slim and she doesn't mention that. Its like telling a pregnant lady her baby could be born with a birth defeat. It could happen, yes, but its something you should be aware about not worried or scared about.

  • @lhsdixiedoll yeahh i agree. im kinda scaredd about getting it now..

  • @lhsdixiedoll I totally agree, my surgery is on friday (2 days) and this has made me even more scared that I already was ¬_¬ As far as I've been told I'll be eating fine D: no eating restrictions! and I'm having surgery through my front AND back

  • @lhsdixiedoll this is real life my friend. I had the surgery too and its more or less like that.

  • I had at least 50 degree curve. After surgery i lost feeling in my legs. I was rushed off to a hyper-brick chamber were i was feed oxygen for 2 hrs every day for weeks. Until i started to gain feeling in my legs. I had to learn how to move my legs, feet and walk all over again. That took several months of intense therapy. I find it hard to run and sometimes my legs give out on me. I am still healing and have daily back pain.

  • I had mine when I was 11 and I had 3 curves and the main curve was 65 degrees I am 15 now and it doesn't bother you as bad after the frist few years as long as you don't over do stuff like lifting, bending, and twisting. Good luck

  • Here you say no School for many months my DR said that i will be able to go back to school a month after a surgery but will need escrot to the school and back

  • Your videos are really cool and brave. Thanks for sharing them!

  • Cool Video, I'm not going to lie though, your video makes whoever needs to have scoliosis a little scary. "It's the biggest surgery, many complications, you can get paralyzed, collapsed lung, I almost die if it wasn't for my surgeon at 3AM"....come on, people are looking for hope in these videos, not things that can go wrong.

  • @LilJohn148

reality is scary.. people should know everthing :P

  • @LilJohn148 well, they should know the risks. i just had that surgery and my nurse and doctor gave me hope PLUS toldme what could happen. it was my choice but anyways the risks r worth it.

  • @LilJohn148 ur rite tht scared me cuz im gona have the sergery soon

  • @610Jenni You'll be fine. I had surgery 6 months ago and I've been doing fine so far. I started back at the gym and I'm a lot more symmetrical and even. It's going to be hard for a few months, but stick it out and it will be worth it, I promise. Good Luck!

  • @LilJohn148 thanks nd it sucks since its on the same month as my birthday

  • @LilJohn148 Thank you, I was thinking the same thing!

  • @LilJohn148 yeah you are so right! I am scared now one of my ribs tip is higher than the other I do have scoliosis but I hope I won't need a surgery... :( I don't wanna die :( and omg I won't be able to do a thing for a year? :(

  • @RIjad101 Don't worry about it. Surgery is the last resort, a lot of people live normal lives with 10-20 degrees. I had a 55 Lumbar curve and had surgery Dec. 29, 2009. That means I'm around 8 months post-op. First few weeks are tough, not going to lie. But it wasn't too bad. I returned to school 4 weeks after surgery and gym at 3 months. Just take it easy and you'll get back to normal. I'm gyming 4-5 days a week now, can walk and stand and sit with no problem.

  • @LilJohn148 Aha thanks, I have no idea how many degrees my curve is, it's not very obvious but I think I'm going to do an X ray to see how many degrees it is, maybe I can survive with a physical therapy only...

Thanks for the support I really appriciate it :)

  • @RIjad101 No Problem. Good Luck and I hope you don't need surgery. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me. I'll be happy to help.

  • @rumpkissq Hey, you can't just "get" the surgery because he gets some sort of pain from working out. He needs to get x-rays and figure out how severe the curve is. If he's 25 and he has scoliosis, most likely it won't progress. And surgery isn't something that's simple, it's not like you have it and within 6 months you're perfect again and can work out. I'm 9 months post op and am still in pain and can't gym heavy. And height gained is determined by how much straighter his spine gets.

  • I had same condition but my surgery & recovery seems so easier... I'm impressed after seeing what you went through!

In my case (i had two bends, both over 70' degrees) they acessed from back - so there was no trouble with eating. Also they made me stand 24 hours after surgery, and basically recovery was very quick at first - chechout after 2 weeks. By that time I could crouch, walk stairs, stand and lay on my own. However it was about 6 months to get all-good.

It's been over 10 years now.

  • can you do stuff like running and sprinting?

I mean i have to have surgery and am worried i'm not going to recover well...

  • @CharlotteIsNowOnline Sorry for finding this now. Yeah I can run and stuff. I guess some hardcore horseriding, or serious contact sports could be bad, but I live normal life, can do anything regular person does, and 100% of people are surprised once they learn that I had serious spine surgery :) I'm sure you'll be fine.

  • I had spinal fusion surgery at 13. All better now! Goodluck to you in the future!

  • Hey i had surgery in may and you know what i'm glad it's over with and alll but your a strong girl as i am as well

    wish you luck:D

  • I had 6 ribs removed during my surgery because my spine was curved and twisted.

  • Hi i am 21, operated when i was 17, a bit to late due to my parents devorce they let my back go worse, whatever i have been operated, i dont care if people tease me or not. whenthey didnt correct it i got very dipresed and in to lots of drugs. Now i have lots of friends, a punk rock band, do skydiving and scuba diving, drive a moto bike and just strated surfing, how many people without scolioses do this? From Portugal! BE STRONG

  • some of this isnt true with everyone

    every case is different

like with my surgery, i got to eat the next day

and i didnt need an ambulance to take me home i got in a car just fine and i didnt live 15 min away i lived 4 hours away... they still let me go

and i could get out of bed without help

it just all depends on the person

im really sorry if your surgery was hard! :[ im really glad you made it through

  • my dear friend, why do you make the surgery sounds so scary & horrifying?

  • i had scoliosis sugery but i never had a brace witch was good :)

  • wait cn i just say this isnt what its like for EVERY individual having the scoliosis surgery x

  • Hi im 13 i have a very very bad curve. welldone everyone for being brave remember to stay strong!!! x x

  • I'm a 12 year old girl with what they call, a "true double curve," lumbar 36 and therastic 44. I want to tell everyone with scoliosis about spinecor! Read about this brace. It's miraculous. I don't want to get surgery. But I don't want to wear a rigid immobil brace. I think that would rather have surgery though. Wonderful video by the way. I hope scoliosis will never be a problem for you or anyone else again. Bless you all.

I returned to school after 2 months. and had no trouble getting up, using the bathroom etc. I did not require 24 hour care.

  • i have scoliosis

    my top is 57

    and my bottom is 47

  • hey, im 15 years old & scoliosis can be solved without having surgery. i know because im getting treatment for it. i wear a brace called spinecor. i went to visit a chiropractor, dr. deutchman. i went in his office with no hope of getting better its only been six months & i went from 24 degrees to 9. its seem like a miracle, best of all the brace isnt noticable :) the brace is supposed to be worn for 2 ears but who knows maybe ill get it off before that. im glad i didnt need surgery.

  • 31-08 i was scared and didn't know what to do. i went in that morning and had my surgery, my whole spine has a rod and TONS of pins and screws. its very hard and not easy but worth it

  • i had surgery a month ago... i had to curves in my spine. we found out i had scoliosis on 11-05-08, i couldn't breathe at school so ems was called. we went to the hospital and xrays were done and they found my scoliosis, the next day we went to a doctor and he measured my curves, the top was 47 degrees and so was the bottom. we were sent to a surgeon a month later and he took more xrays. the curve on the top had grew 3 more degrees in 5 weeks, this was 12-08-08. my surgery was scheduled for 12-

  • I had surgery on my upper back for scoli. I was out in like a week, maybe two, but after my surgery one of the pupils in my eye was really tiny and the other was really big. I guess I had a minor stroke and didn't know it, that was a huge scare. But over all the surgery was not that horrible, and I was back to school within a month. Before surgery I had a back brace for 1 year, it did nothing.

    =[

oddly enough I can still do a backbend and i'm a cheerleader.

    Miricles can happen.

  • scoliosis is a very bad thing :(

i hope that it will not became worse :)

    congratulatios for the surgery ;)

ps. the music of the video is: "The Fray - How To Save A Life". thanks to nemesis ;)

  • It will not become worse only if you practice every day and keep your back straight. had 20 degrees, in a year it went to 40 and I operated :D

  • what is the music of the video?

  • Aww shows how lucky i was, i wasnt even in for a week with my surgery

  • Hey, I'm 16 and I have scoliosis, I'm not sure to what degree though. My mum had it too and she told me about the surgery she had done. I'm going to see a specialist in March to see how it is and what can be done about it. My prayers are with all of those who have to go through this surgery.

  • i had scoliosis and had the operation in august. im also soo glad i had it done im alot taller and i have such a great posture now. my spine was at a 64 degree angle so pretty serious. and haha yeah i have a picture of me looking just like that covered from head to toe in tubes and machines. its amazing what modern technology can do though.

  • i had scoliosis last year and it took my growth away i couldn't grow anymore i remained 4"11 i i had 3 curves in my spine soo i have rods from the top to the bottom it was sad i staid in the hospital for 5 days and didn't start walking until 2 weeks..but now im fine thank god so god bless everyone who have it and just believe in god and be strong i was the weakest person but every since my surgery vary strong

  • Wow, that first image after surgery was scary! I have a slight curve in my spine and I'm glad that it's not so bad that I would need surgery! Well wishes to anyone who's going to have it done!!!

  • I'm about to get surgery in 4 days. I'm not scared; but I'm sad that I won't be able to go to school for 2 months... :'[

  • Cut the silly music!!

  • umm. I'm kinda new to this. I'm 13 and have a 12 degree thoracic curve. My sister had scoliosis also and she had a spinal fusion at 16 years of age.

  • hey bro.

im 16 and getting mine in december.

    good luck to you.

  • I'm also a scoliosis patient and i had surgery 6 years ago when i was 10. this video brought me back to everything that happened because all of that happened to me. my lungs also collapsed after surgery and i went into a coma for about 2 weeks. it was really painful but i got through the two surgeries that i had to have and im so happy i did it because there isnt as much pain now and its actually bearable.

    this video is really great

    thanks!

  • Hey! This is Grace and I am also a Scoliosis patient, I was wondering if you could please send me some of your most impacting images so that I could use them in an informative video that I am making for my class. I would like to use them and show them what the effects of Scoliosis are. Please reply!

    Thanks!

    Grace

  • does anyone knows until what age we can get on surgery ? cause im 22 and had scoliosis since 14, would like to know if risks are more important? or will the result be the same?

  • You can have it done at any age. Should be after you've stopped growing, but early enough where recovery is quicker. I had it done a month before I turned 21, 10 years ago, and it was fine. The only "problems" I have now is some minor loss of feelings in my abdomen and thigh areas.

  • what song is this can someone please tell me

  • How to save a life

  • i had surgery for the same thing but it didnt have as many complications. well i did but i had an elius (stomach blockage) i couldnt eat for 9 days... but to get better they actually wanted me to walk around and sit and stand. i also didnt need a cast or brace afterwards, but before my surgery i did. it was good that i had it, i went from 60 degrees to .5. although i wasnt able to eat alot i was able to eat a small amount. i was also only on morphene, then vicoden, then tylonal.

  • I look at you people and see very brave people. I wore a brace for 7 years and I had a 75% I was going to go under the knife. I am glad I didn't, but I see more people who have. I always hope that everyone comes out okay and I still do.

  • i never had surgery neither...im 22, was 14 with 51 degrees, 2years brace...now im around 20...but id like to straight it back.. how many degrees are you now? if you dont mine i ask you...

  • I am I believe now 15 and 24, when I was 10 I was 24 and 28, so I have gotten correction. It sad, if a few years, it will go back to 24 and 28, but it will not go up.

  • sweetp you have worn the brace for seven years how many degrees were you?

hi guys, i have beeen through scoliosis surgery also its really tough and painful i had it done when i was fourteen years old and it was 55 -60degrees im okay now i am now 19 years old so five years ago i had it done.
