  • Question, his stance is not that of a typical classical player; why does he and other flamenco players sit differently, isn't the classical stance supposed to be "the best"?

  • @SeabasstianTV

Its the standard flamenco seated position with the right leg crossed on the left, classical is different to flamenco.

  • @solerkris Thank you! Why is that though?

  • @solerkris Actually, the classic flamenco position would be like the one Paco adopted when he was younger. Nowadays, he has back problems because of this new position.

  • The greatest guitar player.

  • I can't wait to see him live April 7 here in Savannah GA!!!!!!

  • A genious of the guitar

  • VIRTUOSO??? HACEN FALTA UNA DOCENA DE VIRTUOSOS PARA EMULAR A PACO Y AUN ASI.....NO SE YO ......GRACIAS POR TU ARTE MONSTRUO

  • My grill went out recently. I invited Paco de Lucia over, and we cooked steaks above his fiery guitar playing.

  • Really great Flamenco !

  • Without Nino Miguel this wouldnt exist

  • bravo bellisimo

  • Wonderful!!! This man is simply a genious of the Flamenco!!!

  • O, one of my favorites! Great Paco!

  • Fuck Man!!!!! i love him iiiii fucking love Paco !!!!

  • @EileenBurton Then I ought to point out who is the spanish guy here. It's me and in this observable universe in andalucía the c is pronounce s.

  • @untxen Not Exactly, it depends....In Andalusia exist many types of accent based on "seseo", "ceceo" and "distinción". I´m Andalusian and speak spanish with "distinción" in Granada town (Andalusia Oriental). In other areas of Granada the people speaks with "ceceo", the c and s are pronounce like z. See Wikipedia: "Seseo" or "Ceceo" and see the map of Andalusia.

  • PDL is a master technician, there is not a single not in that whole performence that didnt belong.

  • This video is my introduction to this incredible musician. So happy to "discover' him. Looking forward to hearing more of his beautiful music.

  • He seems to soften the compass to suit British listeners who would find flamenco rather different to grasp.

  • the best way they could have done this was to back up showing both of pacos hands while playing but they have to get artfull and zoom in and out sometimes showing only his face long stretches

  • Si sin duda Paco es el rey de la guitarra flamenca...sabicas ha dicho a Paco "eres mi successor" but we must not forget the brilliance and genius of Nino Miguel ! his contribution helped put flamenco on a newer course

  • Genius

  • Was this on Top of the pops? Then the 70s is badass!!

  • INCREIBLE!!!

  • This is a bulerías "toque" mixing falsetas, as licks on blues guitar. Flamenco is like jazz, based on different licks that can be put together, as long as they are consecuente with the rythm pattern, tone can be changed, even modulations, but not the rythm.

  • damn damn damn damn damn damn you paco. you are the guitar god !! god bless those master hands !

  • Wow!!!

  • However, it should be remembered that this same concept in bulerías for guitar had been developed a year earlier by Niño Miguel on a piece titled "Vinos y caballos", included on another Polygram recording.

  • @BrisasDeHuelva actually I did not mean "plagio", just normal influence/inspiration. What motivates me to write that comment is is because for some strange reason Niño Miguel is not mentioned anywhere in the evolution of Flamenco, and I believe he should be. At least in the field of innovation. Niño opened the door to today's modern flamenco. They should mention Ramon Montoya, Sabicas, Nino Ricardo, then Niño Miguel and Paco de Lucia, and then the new generation like Tomatito, Moraito, etc.

  • @antonioXbrandao you are correct !

  • I'm happy to share the same earth and the same time with this fantastic gitano, he is my favorite guitar player by far.

  • fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff , never saw this performance before in all my life , what a treasure this video , thank you , thank you , bulerias in British television from hero Paco de Lucia , and myself am practising this flamenco-form too but but but ..... so especial way to play , viva Paco de Luciaaaaaaaaaaaa Lyon de Lisa ♪♥♪

  • Am I the only one who thinks BBC didn't make a mistake and just referred to "Entre dos aguas" in a factoid (like others that were showing throughout) unrelated to what Paco was playing?

  • hahaha. just also laughing at the mislabeled title. Its a mix of falsetas from Almoraima, Punta Del Faro, Cepa Andalusa, and the ending from El Tempul.

  • JESUS!!!!!!!!!. been trying my hand at flamenco style for awhile now. think ill go back to regular finger picking.

  • I see where everyone is coming from. But bickering over titles/styles is irrelevant. This guy is pure genius, let's just concentrate on that. Mesmeric

  • i can't believe the video said "Entre dos aguas" in the bottom :DD

  • Why is it that TV producers of that era never focused on the artist actually playing the instrument. That could have been a tutorial of right hand flamenco. The focus on his face during his most complicated right hand movements just kills me. As a kid, that's what I was looking for. Oh, well, rant over.

  • at least he pronunces right "Paco de luzia"

  • @cogedorbarato pfffffffffffffffffffffffffff

  • @cogedorbarato he never said this selection was entre dos aguas...that was an additional comment not pertaining to this video

  • @cogedorbarato Not really, in south spain it's pronounced "Paco de lusia"

  • @untxen Well, that's not completely true. It depends on which part of Andalucía you're talking about.

  • @EileenBurton Exact, in fact "ceceo" and "distinción" are predominant in Andalusia, but in Seville town (center) speak with "Seseo"...Seville is the Capital (TV, RADIO, etc...is from there)

  • THIS IS BULERIA....... NO ENTRE 2 AGUAS (RUMBA)

  • no shit, sherlocks. It sais it's Almoraima in the title.

  • "entre dos aguas" is a RUMBA

  • it seems both Almoraima and Entre dos Aguas were by Nino Miguel see youtube for both

  • MASTER!!!!!!

  • Almoraima, plus he always improvises with closed eyes ;) True Maestro!

  • this song its called "cepa andaluza"

  • 1:32-1:43

PACO DE LUCIA is the best

  • entre dos aguas was in " fuente y caudal " not at cafe del mar

  • omg at 3:52

  • Reminds me of that amazing song he played along with Camaron de la Isla.

  • camera work sucks ass!

  • This is "Chanela".

  • @berrycccc Noooo is Almoraima i have almost all his CD's and its almoraima, im pretty shure

  • tape go ravenna flamenco or tape almoraima pdf on google but it's a real punishment for fingers

  • paco is the best

  • what a nice and gipsy falseta at 2:22...one of my favourite...

  • @VMGIAN Agreed. He does that in many of his older Bulerias. Particularly the one called Cepa Andaluza.

  • @Dzakovich000 yes..I know...

  • he ggh - this is a tremendous videoclip you've put up here. best quality tv video i've see on yt. exactly the repertoire of buleria falsetas PdL was playing about those years. thanks for a rare gem..

  • O REY DA GUITARRA!!

  • wow!

  • i just saw bbc guitar heroes on bbc four, and yes you are completely right this isn't entre dos aguas, they also incorrectly said another fingerstyle guitarist used drop d tuning always and in that track. funny when he strummed openly it was open G... dont make a show about guitarists and get it wrong...

  • is not ENTRE DOS AGUAS but is perfekt

  • buleria

  • I LOVE THIS PACO.

  • anyone has a tab or sheet music for this? will appreciate!

  • @danyjr this piece is called "Almoraima" you can find tabs for it here. On Sal Bonavitas flamenco page. I it is forrbidden to write links here so I recomend you search for "Sal Bonavita Flamenco" on Google... there you can find tabs for this and many other flamenco pieces.

  • @danyjr There is no TABs, that was improvisation with maaany falsetas...

  • @danyjr You'll find post it few falsetas, but no the hole transcript... good luck w it...

  • @danyjr listen carefully and play

    (:

  • i know "almoraima" and paco started with it .. thats right .. but the end IS NOT almoraima .. i'm sure of that .. i need the name of this fantastic piece

  • @MrSolea191 this is almoraima what paco does is that he has improvised it little bit but the main structure i still buleria.

Paco does this even with "Entre Dos aguas" he almost never plays one single version of it, but often improvise....putting in some new notes here and there...

  • Comment removed

  • does anybody here knows what is the name of the last track(when paco changed the melody a minuite right before the end) ... i'm a big fan of paco and i know all of his tracks names but this one i dont know what its name ... need help please

  • @MrSolea191 bulerias often has no name because it's maked of several falsetas.Falseta is a one part that has the same copmas(rhythm) but a different melody. Artist can called bulrias as he wants.

  • I took me ages to find this song. Mainly because it is not entre dos aguas. Come on BBC get it right!!!

  • GreatGuitarHeroes@ Almoraima The piece is a great teacher buleria

  • 72,5 stars

  • la buleria con Camaron

    :) EN Noche De Paco

  • @ManFlamenco1 This is Almoraima

  • Comment removed

  • ces't si bon !

  • credit to camera man for showing close ups of his hands!

  • Greaaatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt !!

Do you have more videos of this performance ???? Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee

  • ole!

fantastic! although, trust the bbc to get it wrong! this isnt entre dos aguas! he is playing some bulerias here! entre dos aguas is a rumba! rumbas are 4 beats rather than 12 so its more like the western music most of us are used to, which is why it is popular!

anyway awesome video, thanks for posting! and search for entre dos aguas again and you'll see what i mean :-P

  • Ese Pacoooo...!!!! :)

  • olé Paco!

actually it's a bulería, so the title is wrong, but who cares, he's amazing as always...

  • I totally agree!

  • LoL :)

  • more videos of paco please...
