@kotapaka They have one with just the cap on it for $60. I use that one at home all the time and I love it. You just need to decide if you want all the extra buttons.
Oh I know it's great for all of those applications.. except it doesn't work with Mudbox or Zbrush... so it's basically a pretty, heavy, and expensive useless paperweight for me.. (until they figure out the issues with the mentioned applications that I use) :)
@dangraphic Have you tried the beta drivers you can get from the 3dconnexion site? It allows you to connect it to any software and emulate mouse dragging/moving mouse with modifier keys/joystick etc.
@dangraphic You can get away for spending only $100 if you get Space Navigator. :P Still, Google Earth is just a nice extra for the Sketchup support. Also you can use the controller with any software/game you can think of (well.. Zen Bound 2 didn't work that well, but I have a feeling using it in conjunction with one other util, it might be possible)
Spacenavigator, spacenavigator for notebooks, + velco keeps you from picking it up. Add a nostromo n52te and you're about 100 times better for 1/4 the price.
Looks cool, gotta get myself one of these.
...maybe the cheaper version >.>

Problem is it looks like a game joystick and has similar functionality but has a 10x price tag.

This thing is amazing. I think you should make a budget version for gamers, maybe with more buttons
